Quarter Region Power Rankings:
1. SEMO
2. NWMO
3. NEMO
4. SWMO

Welcome to the top 25 North Nodaway & Fair Play. I saw that last night St. Elizabeth suffered their third loss of the year, but it was C3 Centralia who is 10-2. Quality loss.

I saw North Andrew in person for the first time tonight. They were very impressive. I am not sure they will beat Mound City, but I think the odds of them winning have increased.
I saw they squeaked out a single digit victory against a severely down Worth County team (who they beat by 50 last time out)...so not sure what happened. They will face Jefferson (C1 #2 on Maxpreps) thursday night. South Nodaway v. Mound City in the other semifinal.

So by region rankings:

SEMO:
3 Dora 12-1 19.4 5.1
6 South Iron (Annapolis) 11-2 12.5 -0.7
7 Risco 10-2 12.5 1.4
11 Eminence 9-4 10.7 3.8
13 Delta 10-4 9.2 1.7
18 Halfway 10-1 7.4 -6.4

22 Lesterville
10-3 6.0 -2.9
23 Fair Play 9-4 5.3 -2.0

(you know it's strong when the defending champs with most of their pieces back is 4th in the region!!) Eminence should still be top 5 in state, if not top 3.

NWMO:
1 Mound City 11-0 21.8 4.8
2 Jefferson (Conception Junction) 9-1 19.8 5.7
8 Winston 13-0 12.4 -6.2
9 North Andrew (Rosendale) 8-2 11.9 0.4
12 South Nodaway (Barnard) 9-2 9.2 -2.2
19 Mercer 6-2 6.6 -3.1
21 Southwest (Ludlow) 7-2 6.2 -2.3

24 North Nodaway (Hopkins) 7-4 4.8 1.0
25
Pattonsburg 7-3 4.7 -2.6

Don't sleep on Wellington Napoleon, who would be favored over all but the top 4 maybe in this region. Forget records.

NEMO:
4 Meadville 11-1 14.7 0.6
5 Slater 11-2 13.6 -1.5
15 Northwestern (Mendon) 10-1 8.1 -6.9
17 La Plata 7-0 7.7 -10.7
20 Linn County (Purdin) 7-3 6.6 -0.8

Maybe we should start talking more about Meadville. They are a strong program who is in a tough district. La Plata's record is quite a bit off. Glasgow just got a great win against a Solid C2 New Franklin team (who beat La Plata) last night, so watch out for the Yellowjackets too.

SWMO:
10 Lakeland (Deepwater) 10-1 11.6 -3.5
14 Weaubleau 6-3 8.4 2.6
16 St. Elizabeth 11-2 8.0 -3.7

Here's what I'll say...Weaubleau lost by 19 to Lakeland in the opening game in the season...so I don't think they deserve that #2 Spot. This appears to be a two horse race.

Before another coaches poll comes out...here is my new Top 10:

1. Dora
2. South Iron
3. Mound City
4. Eminence
5. Jefferson
6. Winston
7. St. Elizabeth
8. Slater
9. Lakeland
10. Meadville

should get some votes: Risco, Delta, North Andrew, La Plata

Coaches Poll:

Class 1

Team. Record

1 Dora 12-1

2 South Iron 11-2

3 Winston 12-0

4 Eminence 7-4

5 Mound City 11-0

6 Lakeland 10-1

7 St. Elizabeth 11-2

8 Jefferson 10-1

9 Meadville 11-1

10 Halfway 9-1

Others receiving votes: Risco 9-2, Slater 11-2, Northwest Mendon 10-1, LaPlata 9-2

I am not sure what happened, but game is on Albany Tv Facebook page so I might watch it later. I was shocked by the score.

50 point loss also might make the losing team play harder. I heard that North Andrew couldn’t miss that night so final score was a bit flukey
you are right about the couldn't miss, I saw where one of their guards set the school record with 8 3 pointers in the game... found it on hudl. They were DEEP threes.

https://www.hudl.com/team/v2/160732/Boys-Varsity-Basketball

If you scroll down a few videos (wouldn't let me post the link to the actual video) you can see the film. under "Orlo Simmons 3 Point record" or something of the sort. It's from December 12th, which may help some navigate it.

I watched most of the game this week online. They weren’t hitting from 3 at all and turned the ball over a lot. Still talented enough to overcome it to beat Worth County, but that performance will not win tonight’s game.

Hoops, don't know if you've been notified, but South Harrison's games tonight have been postponed until Monday. 5th-place games in MS gym, 3rd-place and championship games in the HS gym. 7th-place games still canceled.

Jefferson vs. Mound City in a T-10 matchup in NWMO tonight...any other good matchups on tap for this week?

Winston and Pattonsburg (wednesday) and North Andrew v. South Nodaway tonight as well in the undercard at Stanberry.

Milan 32 Linn County 30 at the half. This is only the second time Milan has been challenged this year. All but one game is a double-digit win.

2018-2019 Boys' Basketball Poll #4 (Release 1/15)

The MBCA Basketball poll is selected by a panel of coaches representing each of the 8 MBCA districts and each of the five Missouri basketball classes.

Class 1

1 Dora 12-1

2 Winston 12-0

3 South Iron 11-1

4 Mound City 14-0

5 Jefferson 12-1

6 Lakeland 12-1

7 Eminence 10-4

8 St. Elizabeth 12-3

9 Meadville 12-1

10 Northwest Mendon 10-1

Others receiving votes: Halfway 10-2, Risco 9-2, Slater 11-3, LaPlata 11-2, Concordia

Notes from me:
Winston skyrockets to #2 (they held Pattonsburg to 26 points last night) Pretty strong effort there.

Eminence at 7 is way too low (but they will end up outed by Dora if things go like they are going in district championship)...I do see they have the most losses in the conversation, but they are still very formidable.

No clear favorite in NEMO or SWMO. Mound City is probably underrated, as they are the top team in NWMO and on Maxpreps. Jefferson lost twice by just 2 points to Mound City, so they are right there too.

Lets get through league play and get to the playoffs..let's go!

Jefferson and Mound City - Round 3 will likely be next Saturday at the North Platte Tournament (weather permitting)
I just saw a score on semoball that should interest you folks here on the Class 1 Thread. 4 seed Ellington 44-1 seed South Iron 37 in the Black River league Tourney. For now I'll assume that score is correct.

YDKM Takes:
1. Lots of missing games on maxpreps (usually tournament games that scores can't be input unless the team does so)
2. I think this top 25 is maybe more inaccurate than many have been in the past. Down the stretch run it will likely even itself out, but the tournaments throw it for a loop
3. SEMO is the region to beat..still. They are playing bigger schools when they hang a loss. I'd love to be able to watch every district championship, sectional and quarterfinal game down there...would be a ton of great games
4. NEMO is going to be crazy too, just with less firepower
5. SWMO...a 2 horse race, as I've said before

6. NWMO has lots of teams on the list...and Wellington Napoleon is a SLEEPER...don't miss them

I know that there are a lot of scores coming in that are close games that maybe shouldn't be, or upsets, those types of things...very hard to keep teams focused and driven during this stretch of the season. Coaches also aren't looking to peak just yet either, so hang on to your hats! (Also don't forget injuries and illnesses)

Not sure my preseason playoff tree has changed a whole lot to this point.

That's what I thought too. I only know the score, I know nothing about players available for the game or foul trouble or whatever might contribute to the upset but those things can occur at time during the season so I'll tip my hat to Ellington for pulling it off.

It was only like a 10 point game when they played earlier this season though wasn't it?

I couldn't tell you about that. I don't think SI had a close game in the AV Tournament where I assume they played each other.

I just looked back at the AV Tourney bracket and saw Lesterville beat Ellington in the semis so they did not play SI there. SI did win all their games at AV by at least 30 points.

I assumed they had played in the regular season but we don't get all the scores from up that way here in P.B. I'd say most consider it an upset.

I know I consider it an upset after the way I saw SI play at Park Hills Christmas Tournament. Someone mentioned one of their kids may be hurt. Anyone know which one?

I was told today by a ref that was calling some games in the BRL Tourney that SI's leading scorer has been out for a couple of weeks and will be out 3 or 4 more weeks with hand/finger issue.
