THE Class 1 Hoops Thread 2018-19

Dora may not win it all this year. But I’d bet on them the next 2 years for sure. Returning the whole starting 5, my money would go on them, if I was a betting man.
Jefferson will be adding South Nodaway in a co-op next year and Farnan is back. They will be pretty good next year also

(Not a Jefferson homer) but they are always so disciplined and stick to their guns. They can handle pressure and they knew their best matchup was Farnan. They can also flat out guard.
They are a fun team to watch (unless you are playing against them).

Mound City will be awful tough too. Lose some seniors, but just making room for then younger ones to thrive. Jefferson/South Nod May jump class 2 if they go 6 classes... who knows. Can’t say anything bad about the Eagles, just humbly get it done.

They were 84 combined this year. Dora was 82. Cutoff was 93 this year. It would be close depending on how many teams stay in Class 1. There is still a chance that 64 teams would stay in Class 1 even with 6 classes and bigger classes reduce the number of teams.

Congratulations to the Jefferson kids and school community. I'm happy for them to close a chapter of school history in such a grand way.
Can't help but feel it for the Mound City kids though. I think I'm pretty safe in saying they may be the only team in history to beat the state champion in their class three times in the season.
Have a feeling Class 1 is going to be a real dog fight again next year. Fun times ahead.

The officiating on the Dora / Jefferson game was COMPLETELY different than it was when I watched the Dora / St Elizabeth game where Dora got by with everything, and the refs let them get by with all of there cheap plays and fouls that they were called for last night against us. If the officials we had last night for our game would have reffed the St E game, St E would have beat Dora by a good 20. Because they wouldn't have gotten by with their cheap fouls that should have been called. The refs wouldn't have screwed St E over by giving the fouls to the wrong player like they did, and the coach would have been T'd up for touching a live ball in play. I myself was not impressed with the Haney kid that everyone's been blowing smoke on. He didn't have impress me much against us last night. On the St E game #10 did a pretty good job keeping him away from his ave scoring that he has had over the season and he wore Haney down because he was spent early last night. Im pretty sure that he had gotten most half of his points on free throws when St E was fouling them to work on getting the possession back. Which from us here rooting for Jefferson, I want to thank St E for the intensity that they brought to the game. You guys wore Dora out because they were FLAT and tired last night. #10 for St E and the big #34 you guys did a great job keeping him tamed down and not letting him drive the way he is used to.

I thought the big kid from Jefferson played well but he isn't the story of the game. I heard on a broadcast later that Jefferson shot around 30% from 3 on the year and they shot 73% from the field on the night. They hit some 3's early which forced Dora to have to come out and guard instead of doubling down on the big kid. I bet they shot around 70% or better from 3. Would like to hear the actual stat. Few things I noticed from Dora was that Haney doesn't usually miss wide open looks and they never adjusted to the game being called tight.

Some offseason chatter. Had heard that Coach Luna took a superintendent job elsewhere. Any truth to that? If so, what's that mean for the triplets? Rumor was always that Haney was leaving too of course.

Would that superintendent job include coaching as well? We shall see.
