Cardinal Ritter will be a heavy favorite in Class 4. They got two more East St. Louis transfers that will no doubt be eligible right away. Hilarious. That makes 5 or 6 total ESL transfers (Boyd brothers, Clayborne, and these two). I doubt very much any of them moved across the river. They also have their junior RB back that missed all of last season due to undisclosed reasons. He will help them immensely. Comical what is happening in the STL area and MSHSAA can't/won't do anything to slow it down.

The private school boutique team. End this nonsense now.
Again, the most annoying thing is the gathering of transfers in this manner. I completely understand the CBCs, Rocks, Helias' of the world. They bring them in, get them enrolled in 9th grade. But to cherry pick and recruit specific players for specific roles and positions of need. Frankly, is a disgrace to high school football and should be stopped. I love to lobby MSHSAA to stop this type of activity.

If the St. Louis inner city public schools weren't trash that's more of the problem than private school recruiting.

But these schools are not recruiting Speech and debate kids, they are not giving scholarships to your average teen science nerd ....they are recruiting athletes with the only purpose of winning on the field. So the public schools are trash argument doesn't play here, you want to actual better kids then do it for academics not athletes, this is all about winning on the grid iron not helping the poor and down trodden youth of St Louis inner public schools.

Idk looks like private schools do just fine on the academic side.

This literally be a discussion on this board about a kid transfer to public powerhouse under shady circumstances.

stereotypes of those schools need to stop. They do fine on the field and in the classroom. Yes they recruit atheletes but in all honesty their success on the field does their recruiting for them.

Ya think? They make non-athletes pass tests to even attend. Makes it easy to teach. Just like having better players makes it easy to coach.

If a family is spending $20,000 + for a year of high school, they are probably on top of things at home, and the kids has the resources and oversight he needs to be successful in the classroom. Not to mention how many students with learning disabilities, IEP's, etc. who are likely to struggle academically are in the private schools?

If one or two kids transfer to a big public powerhouse is not the same as a group of 5 to 7 D2 to D1 players transferring to a class tclass 2 to 4 team in one year during the soph to senior seasons to fill a roster. And bring that up it’s just a red herring argument

I’m sure it’s only 1 or 2. 🙄

For example those players that have transferred to Cardinal Ritter from East St. Louis probably aren’t D1 and weren’t playing. Otherwise why would they transfer? East St. Louis is a significantly higher profile program any typically would mop any Missouri school.

I’m not justifying what is happening but it’s hypocritical when select public schools do it and everyone looks the other way.

The major issue is its not legal for the public schools

Private schools have a cakewalk

I wonder if the social media whistleblowing hadn't existed would the school have proactively cancelled the season knowing the coaching staff did that.

Do public schools not get caught with ineligible players. At least CRCP admin took responsibility and cancelled the rest of their season. I’ve never heard anyone do that

Yea
Bill Buckley, a socialist? What happened to freedom in this country?

By all means they can transfer.

It’s not about getting caught with an eligible Player it’s about bringing in 5 to 7 players to stack a team in a particular season based on need. Absurd.

Even with private schools you have to move within an assigned boundary. If a kid moved from out of state to [insert public school] no one bats an eye. I can tell you when Kirkwood, Hazelwood Central & east or even Blue Springs were at the top it did happen and no one seemed to mind.

They don't check the boundaries

And how would anyone know?

Two different sets of rules

Yea they do. In order to transfer to a private school you have to move within 25 miles. Addresses are on the Mshsaa forms. The only private schools the get an exception are boarding school who get a one time exemption.

That'd be great if public schools had the same boundary

Not saying they don't, but how many of those kids are on scholarship verses the football team? That was the question.

I think you’d be surprised. Many private schools have tuition assistance and scholarships for students the reach certain academic qualifications.

If your kid excels academically private schools to will do anything they can to get them into there school. Many use where kids are going to college and a recruiting tool.

I have one that goes to private and two that attend public...
They don't want anything todo with my two special needs kids with autism.

Open enrollment has passed. The thing is why should a school take a headache from another school. If the kid is good and a stud then yes. Good schools will get better and crappy schools will stay crappy.

I have 2 that attend private. 1 with autism. They accepted him with the understand he wouldn’t have resources as a public school.

I get it point that wasn’t the argument being made. If it’s such a problem then why haven’t public schools made a push to remove special needs student from enrollment? It’s traceable so it would be a problem.

I think "crappy" schools will get worse actually because many of the best kids who can will transfer out.

It will create an adverse selection situation.

I know it passed the House, but it didn't pass the Senate, did it?

I have a family member that is a Special Education teacher. I believe Kansas is going open enrollment beginning next school year. My understanding is that if there are seats available and they aren't at capacity kids from say KCK can move over to Blue Valley.
What we've discussed and I have no idea of the answer is who gets to decide who comes over and in what order. Say you have a football coach from Blue Valley trying to get a top player from KCK. What if there is a special needs kiddo whose mom/dad wants him in Blue Valley for educational reasons as well.
Changing times for sure.

I thought it passed. Must be my multiple personalities coming up. 33 years of teaching does that to you.

It did not pass because folks got greedy and tried to attach too much other stuff to it... That being said, the bills for open enrollment so far have had an athletic clause attached stating that if you used the "open enrollment" provision to change schools that you would not be able to play any sport for 365 days.

I have to ask why is open enrollment an attack on Public schools I think it is more or an attack on the old boundaries in many cases?
We own land but it is in the PC school district but boarders and is closer to Monett school district. It just makes more sense for our kids to attend Monett. So why make it inconvenient on parents, it would be a 20 minute trip to go to PC schools versus less than 10 minutes to Monett. But we are stuck with district boundaries that were drawn up over 100 years ago that today make no sense, but PC has to vote the land out and Monett has to vote it in. Sometimes a certain district just makes geographical sense for the parents and students.
