Any Big Games this week or over break? I know we have some holiday tournaments and shootouts... How would you all rank the top 10?

I'll start:

I'd go:

1. Advance - Keep on rolling after that early loss to Oran
2. North Andrew - Got win over previous #10 Worth County this week
3. Walnut Grove -yes, with 5 losses, as was stated before..tough tough schedule and down a great player for a while (any idea when they will come back?
4. Eminence - playing really well right now, i'd like to see an advance rematch
5. Winston - 9-0 just keeps rolling
6. Jamestown - Took first loss to quality C2 program
7. Dora - Another program playing really well against other C1 teams
8. Meadville - Got the win over Linn Co this week
9. Greenfield - second best in SWMO? battling injuries
10. Worth county- three losses in three games, but battling injuries as well

Worth Noting: Linn County, Lakeland, Jefferson, Lesterville

Should have a new Maxpreps ranking and Coaches Poll out tomorrow if they stick to the 1 weeks turnaround on Coaches poll after 12/12 release
1. Advance - Keep on rolling after that early loss to Oran
2. Walnut Grove - Only because they don't have Gilkey right now. Should be back for their Holiday Tournament.
3. North Andrew -
4. Winston -
5. Meadville -
6. Jamestown - Took first loss to quality C2 program
7. Dora - Playing a lot of small schools, but still pretty talented
8. Eminence- Got the size to be tough at the C1 level.
9. Greenfield - Solid, but still finding their identity. Had a big win vs. C3 Valley Springs, Ar. (16-4) on Saturday
10. Worth county- three losses in three games, but battling injuries as well

With St. Joe Christian’s win over Worth County, they may get some look at Top 10 votes. However, they have a tough slate coming up starting tonight against Lathrop. They play North Platte tomorrow. I think both are winnable.

In the LeBlond tournament, they drew Mid Buch which is going to be a very tough opponent. They will face all bigger schools there.

St. Joe Christian defeated Lathrop 55-41 tonight. Lathrop missed a lot of shots, but SJC's defense was stifling all night. They were tied at 18 at the half and SJC went on a run late in the 3rd quarter/early 4th quarter to pull away.

Seems like they are playing really well against quality opponents.. (and that defensive scoring is pretty outstanding to this point) It would probably help SJC's chances of getting ranked if they updated their MSHSAA page (and maxpreps too...but I know i'm the big maxpreps homer around here :D )

New Poll...thoughts?
12/19/17

1 Advance 6-1

2 North Andrew 5-0

3 Walnut Grove 3-5

4 Jamestown 8-1

5 Winston 9-0

6 Dora 5-2

7 Lakeland 7-1

8 Eminence 4-1

9 Meadville 7-1

10 Linn County 7-1
In my opinion, now that I know WG smoked Wheatland, I believe WG is number one. 3-5 with no losses to a class One, only one win against a Class 1. Competitive losses to the likes of Mt. Vernon (C3) and Carthage (C4). Even a competitive 6-4 Greenfield team should have some votes. Dora is still young, and Eminence is big and I know can play. Lakeland I think is a product of a weak schedule. Others I have no idea about except hearsay.

Thing to note: Some top teams don't have 6 games logged (or played) and therefore aren't on the rankings)

Looks like Linn County fell at brunswick 56-53

Polls are based a lot off of where people are at that moment, not what they will be. I think voters probably took that into account because Walnut Grove climbed in the polls after another loss. I agree that Walnut Grove when healthy is still the team to beat, and there are other teams in state that have injury bugs that are holding them back too.

Had Linn county's loss been put posted, I think you would have seen Greenfield in there...I also think Eminence is really good, so probably ranked too low, and I think you may be right about Lakeland's schedule...time will tell. Polls are just polls, and they give us something to talk about, which I'm thankful for.

I was curious, so I looked at strength of schedule...and Walnut Grove's is currently 4.0...which is only lower than St. Elizabeth. Not sure that is accurate either...but it's just a formula.

Keep in mind that if a team's opponent hasn't updated their record (or their opponent's opponents haven't updated theirs), that would affect the strength of schedule rating.

Jamestown gets a bounce back win vs 6-1 Sante Fe w/ 63-24 win, holding Sante Fe to 8 pts @ half. Jamestown is now 9-1 entering Christmas break.

Big time win for Pattonsburg. Shows everyone that Winston is vulnerable and can be beaten. I’m very impressed by Pattonsburg to start this season. Possible team to watch down the road

Newest Maxpreps rankings (for your entertainment) it appears lesterville dropped another game.

My personal thought is Walnut grove and Worth County still belong way up at the top. Strength of schedule and injuries have affected much of the season.

The rankings will likely get a big shakeup this week with the walnut grove holiday tournament and the southeast Missourian tournament going.

Anyone else think an advance and eminence rematch would be a completely different game this time around.

Lots of games of interest: (st. Elizabeth lost)

Walnut grove is 2-0 in their home tournament after surviving against 8 seed Ash Grove 66-65.

Dora and Eminence are 2-0 in cabool tourney and meet tomorrow to likely face Thayer for the title.

Advance suffered their second loss of the season to Charleston 80-65 (hit 12 team threes in the loss)

North Andrew stays undefeated:

Any other winter break scores to show of top 10 or fringe top 10 teams?
