Who will win the Rematch?

I have heard no one overly complimentary about halfway or Lakeland, but they have good records. Lakeland’s loss is to a decent, but not great Green Ridge team who is 7-3 with a loss to Stover which, if they had won, could have ended up playing Jamestown at the Stover Tournament. I see Green Ridge plays class 2 #1 Sacred Heart Next week too. Halfway’s 1 reported loss is to a sub .500 Hurley team.

Eminence beat Dora head to head and have a better record, that one is a straight up miss. No other way to explain that.

Pattonsburg has a great argument to be in the top 10, but I think Winston still has a greater chance of winning a district Title. If they beat North Andrew, no one will be doubting Pattonsburg anymore.

Jamestown should still be in the top 4. They are a really solid team and odds on to be in the final four.

I think the top 3 are where I would put them. I have heard Thomazin had 11 3’s in walnut grove’s last game. He isn’t slowing down any. And the kid is going to go be a division 1 pitcher. Crazy athlete.

I wish we could get another showdown between advance and Dora or eminence.

We potentially have a Worth County (district 14 favorite) or Jefferson (district 16 favorite) matchup against #2 North Andrew next week in the Stanberry tournament as well.

Greenfield would help themselves possibly by updating maxpreps just to market themselves a little more. I have not seen them, but have a feeling they are more worthy than the other two from down there (and maybe I’m way off). Although a .500 record is hard to rank unless you are the defending champion playing all c2’s-c4s.

I still think St. Elizabeth has a chance to make a run too among the not usually mentioned on here. Meadville is solid as always and will be a tough out.

Mercer is a potential sleeper in Disrict 14 as well. Chamois is my sleeper down in central Missouri. I also think we will have some surprises in the swmo districts based on records and no one really separating themselves.

It is also interesting this time of year teams are battling illness, injury from all the games, possible ineligibility..you never know if you will be full force any given night. Should be a fun stretch run though. I’ll be back with maxpreps poll tomorrow if someone else doesn’t beat me to it.
Hurley is now 7-5 and on a 5 game win streak so they are not sub .500

Halfway and Lakeland are products of their schedules. However they have some athletes. Greenfield plays a tough schedule, not as tough as WG though. Greenfield’s Coach is big about letting the product on the floor speak for itself. He doesn’t care about mid season rankings. He wants to be playing well at the end when it counts.

lots of schools don't have updated records...mostly due to not entering tournament game scores

St. Joseph Christian defeated Stanberry 63-48. SJC got out to a 22-7 lead. They were dominating early. However, Stanberry made several runs and eventually cut the lead to 45-42 in the 4th, but SJC was able to hit 16 free throws in the 4th quarter and made key defensive plays to stretch out the lead to its final score. Tucker finished with 26 for SJC and Hailey finished with 25 for Stanberry.

That’s a ton of free throws in a quarter..but if you have to catch up...

I’m telling you, Worth County is lost in the woods right now, but they will find their way out. Still my favorite to get in the final 8. Jefferson is young and getting more experience and will be battle tested by the playoffs. They always are around when big games come up.

Pattonsburg beat SJC, North Andrew, Winston I would say are at the top
North Andrew beat Pattonsburg 57-33. Pattonsburg, Winston and SJC are all good, but North Andrew right now is several levels above them. That is not to say that North Andrew can't be defeated, but they will be favored in every game until Final Four. As for Worth County, I think that they have a great shot at the Final 8, but Pattonsburg and Winston will have a lot to say about it.

Both Pattonsburg and a scrappy Mercer sit in Woco’s district, and right now I would think Woco would be the 2 or 3 seed. I just don’t think we have seen their best yet, and their potential is high, after they gave North Andrew a great battle in their matchup earlier this year. Their size is a problem for most teams and they have some shooters as well.

There are a lot of really good potential championship game matchups in Northwest and North Central Missouri this week:
Fairfax tournament - SJCS vs. South Holt
Milan tournament - Linn County vs. Milan (#4 in Class 2 and unbeaten)
Stanberry tournament - North Andrew vs. Worth County or Jefferson
Osborn tournament - Pattonsburg vs. Winston
South Harrison tournament - Northeast Nodaway vs. Mercer

St. Elizabeth has played a pretty tough schedule...lots of bigger schools. I think they will be a tough out, not the same level but similar to Walnut Grove in regards to record and schedule strength.

My thoughts exactly. Their overall record may not be stellar but they aren't going to be intimidated by any class 1 opponent regardless of their record. I haven't seen them play in person and don't know anything about their depth which can become a huge factor in post season play but I would consider them a serious threat in their district.

Not a lot of love for the 11-game-winning-streak Redwings. I'm still baffled at how they are ranked behind a Dora team which they have already beaten in a head-to-head match-up.

I think Eminence is getting undervalued at this point. Dora must have a lot of admirers on the voting committee. When playoffs come, only one of those teams will be in the final four (advance included) My money wouldn’t be on Dora, not to say they couldn’t be there. They are very talented, but young and undersized. I would go with experience and size. Walnut Grove just has a lot of losses, but they are capable of beating anyone in the top 10 without a stretch of the imagination which is not the case at all for a few of the top 10’s by my estimation. Dora has the big dogs on their schedule to end out their regular season, which will help sort it out.

Also, if you are going to rank Winston and St. Joseph Christian, it is hard not to put the team that beat them both above them. But, I realize this is a statewide poll, so some of it comes down to visibility.

Oh well, fun to talk about

I agree 100%. Dora's size (or lackthereof) can't be overlooked here. Nor can the fact that Eminence has only been beat by the C1 number 1, and it was in the first game of the year. I find it hard to think that anyone gets passed Advance, though. They're tough all the way around, and lethal shooters.
