Pollsters, St. Joseph Christian beat Winston soundly....their only recent loss to a class 1 team is North Andrew...lost to a C3 trenton team.
I'd go:
1. NA- undefeated, but is it their weak region? Lots of people think Worth and SJC can pull the upset...can't sleep on Jefferson or Mound city in D16 either matching up in sectionals.
2. Advance--going to cruise in their district, won't meet resistance in sectional either...Will cruise to play Eminence/Dora in SE quarter.
3. Walnut Grove-someone convince me I'm wrong here..played C4 Helias to OT...come on pollsters. Played Nixa to single digits...coaches...come on. Them playing dora on the 15th will be fun. Either way, they will cake walk to final four.
4. Jamestown- Until someone beats them, they are the team to beat in NEMO quad. I think they get to Springfield. Meadville, Chamois, St. Elizabeth or Glasgow are formidable challengers though.
5. Eminence- Can't wait to see them Play Dora/Advance again
6. Dora- youngbloods getting stronger with each game. Could pull off a stunner and get to Springfield
7. St. Joseph Christian- Second best team in NWMO right now still. Sharing district with North Andrew
8. Worth County- Have to play Pattonsburg in districts likely, who stunned Winston and St. Joseph Christian earlier in the year...but if they get it done, they are favored against Winston.
9. Meadville --wouldn't be shocked if Slater upsets them in districts, but always a solid program that knows how to make runs in the playoffs.
10. Winston-- only two losses...Pattonsburg and St. Joseph Christian, and are the 1 seed in District 13 or 14, forget which one.
----Could also make arguments for Chamois, St. Elizabeth, Lakeland, Greenfield, Hurley as top 10 teams...but Greenfield and Hurley won't make it out of districts. Maxpreps isn't too far off with recent rankings in my opinion. Eminence may deserve to be above Advance...especially if their loss was a close one to Advance..but they will have the opportunity to set that straight if they can get by Dora again. Hard to beat a good club 3 times.
Milan beat Linn County by 49 tonight.Hey, I'm loving the contributions from the lurkers...yeah...is Linn County going to be a factor? Seemed like they dropped a fair bit of games down the stretch.
Milan beat Linn County by 49 tonight.
That would likely factor in!Not trying to take away from Milan’s victory, or brag on Linn County, but LC did have 2 starters out with injuries. Probably been a little closer if not for that.
Hoops, you know anything about SJC's games with Whitefield academy? Not posted on MSHSAA, but posted on Maxpreps. SJC's record 19-5 or 21-5?

Lutheran game was canceled.I don't see it on their school webpage....which is a fantastic page.
Shows games this week against KC Lutheran and East Buch. That game with EB is of interest. Earlier this season the Lions had a nice win over Lathrop. Chance to rise up against a bigger school.
Last year Winston was very good and deserving of a higher ranking. This year, they are good, but not great.Lurker here...great stuff on Class 1 basketball....You Don't Know Me and GRC Hoops Tourn keeping some great discussions going.
One comment to Hoops Tournament....got a buddy whose kid played for Birds last few years.....Winston's schedule is weaker...no doubt...but if you are going to pridefully bring up that their one loss in 2016 and one loss in 2017 were to GRC teams....you probably should mention that one of their wins was by 25 over the 2017 GRC champion Trenton. (in the interest of statistical fairness)
.
Good stuff though......District 13-16
North Andrew...over SJC and South Holt...KC harasses NA in semi for a half.
Worth County....over Pattonsburg and Mercer
Jefferson and Mound City....wow...almost a push...give the edge to Jefferson and that Jermain Tradition
Winston...slight edge over Braymer and SW...but Braymer can beat Winston .
Not enough pollsters agree with me or read this thread I guess...
Move 7,8,9 up to 5,6 and shuffle 5 and 6 down to 8, 9. Lakeland isn't a top 10 team.
Leave us where we’re at we kind of like running under the radar. Good game tonight Wg hosting the Dora Falcons.Agreed. Though I'd move WG up even higher still. Who would you put in at 10 over Lakeland? I feel like Green City should probably be in over Meadville too.
Dropping Dora out altogether now? I didn’t expect that from you.If you look at comparable scores (which is not always the most reliable thing), and final season shakeout...I'm telling you..Worth County should be in top 10. Not Lakeland, not Green City.
If we are straight up going off best teams in the state (which is what it should be...it could really be argued that Walnut Grove is 1, Advance 2, Eminence 3, North Andrew 4, Jamestown 5... I am of the opinion there is a decent divide between top 5 teams and the rest. After the first 5, I'd go 6. Worth County, 7. St. Joseph Christian (even though Christian won head to head) 8. Winston 9. Hurley 10. Chamois/Glasgow/Green City, Slater, Meadville

hey, thanks for the notes. St. Elizabeth doesn't have a soft schedule, and they gave glasgow a run last year playoff time too. Anything can happen!St. Elizabeth beat a decent class 2 New Bloomfield squad (seeded first in their district) at New Bloomfield last night. A friend tells me they have changed their lineup and rotations and are really cooking right now. Disregard their record (most of their losses are to larger class schools) and with their size they match up well with Jamestown.
Play off basketball is about to begin where it will all be settled on the court. Wishing both teams the best because they both mean so much to their communities. Love this time of year !!!!!~
Do you think they have a shot against North Andrew in a rematch? Surely beating a bigger school has them pretty confident.SJC defeats East Buchanan 59-53. SJC is 20-5.
North Andrew defeats SW Livingston 81-48. North Andrew is 23-0.
SJC ends regular season 7-3 over teams Class 2 or higher.
A shot? Yes. SJC has to be red hot from 3 and North Andrew has to have a bad shooting night. North Andrew is the best team I have seen in person in Class 1 since Scott County about 5 years ago.Do you think they have a shot against North Andrew in a rematch?
