Still feel good about your boys facing Dora and Advance eventually? They are definitely going to have to run the gauntlet!Eminence advances to sectionals over South Iron 57-42. McBride 24/15, Dyer 15/10, Drake 13 points.
SJC defeated South Holt 46-38. SJC never trailed, and largest lead was 10. Most of the game was a 2-possession game. SH cut it to 3 with about 30 seconds left, but Zach Maggart hit key free throws down the stretch to close it out.
Officials were pretty bad. Very inconsistent. Favored SH early, but missed fouls on SJC in second half and SH coach was obviously dry frustrated with them.
Unless King City shocks the world tonight, it will be SJC vs. North Andrew tomorrow at 4:30.
That might be their closest game until the final fourWalnut Grove 86 Greenfield 55
Defending State Champion Walnut Grove wins District 5 for the 4th year in a row. Great win tonight by the Tigers. Gotta Love playoff basketball.
I hope your right but it’s playoff basketball and anything can happen. We shall see. That might be their closest game until the final four
I still feel pretty good about the Dora game. Advance still scares me, though. In my eyes, Eminence and Dora definitely have the toughest road to the final four of anyone else.Still feel good about your boys facing Dora and Advance eventually? They are definitely going to have to run the gauntlet!
Agree. I think Winston and Dora are the two that will give the biggest challenges. My picks for the first round:
Advance
Eminence
Jamestown
Green City
Walnut Grove
Lakeland
Worth County
North Andrew
I would agree. Dora is scary and could pull the “upset” some would say. I just think WOCO is better then Winston. More battle tested, no offense to Winston but they haven’t played the same schedule that WOCO has. I know Winston can’t control what Conference they are in but that’s just what I think.Agree. At this point I don't think schedule matters one bit. Winston has a track record of success, way more so than Worth County. I think Worth county is a favorite in this game due to their size, age, and experience, but if you see some of the scores for Worth County throughout the year, they can be held down defensively (and Winston can guard!!). If this game is in the 40's, Winston has a real chance to move on.I would agree. Dora is scary and could pull the “upset” some would say. I just think WOCO is better then Winston. Young pup, you can't just join one day and start calling us wrong..oh wait, yes you can...welcome to the thread! Some of you old boys don't understand that record doesn't tell the whole story. One of the teams you have poo pooed has played the #1 team in the state in class 2, #10 in class three, beaten two teams still in the final 16, and played many schools in class two and three. That would be a contributing factor in having a worse record than many of the teams in the finals. They have also beaten their matchup in the next step. Food for thought.

-I expect Chamois and Jamestown to be a close game as well.
-I would not be surprised if Slater beat Green City as well in an upset special.
-Walnut Grove might win by 45

I don't think anyone recently mentioned record as far as a good qualifier. I'm basing my information off what I see from comparable scores. I've repeatedly said that Walnut Grove is a top team despite their record, which is not who you are talking about, but is relevant since they are a potential matchup.
Let me say congrats Green Ridge! District Titles are always earned. That being said, playing a top team isn't the same as beating them. They lost to C3 #10 by 40...and lost to C2 #1 by 19, Lost to Stover by 36, who recently got beat by 30 by Sacred Heart in the first round of districts, as the 8 seed. They have beaten Slater (district champs), and yes Lakeland by three (who is their matchup). I have felt this way all year, Walnut Grove has no equal in SWMO. Lakeland has a great record, but haven't beaten anyone of significance, IMO. Green Ridge may very well win this sectional game, but if you look at comparable scores, that pocket of Missouri hasn't really been validated. For instance, if you do a little digging, Green Ridge had a dog fight with Chilhowee, who lost to North Andrew by around 30. Fair Play beat Lakeland...and Fair Play lost 57-83 to WG. Of course this is all my opinion (except the scores). Comparable scores aren't a great measuring stick either a lot of times due to matchups, and who knows in playoff basketball?
The great thing about having a playoff (looking at you D1 football) is they can play it out. If they are legit, then will have the chance to prove it. The Walnut Grove team they will potentially play is a HEAVY HEAVY favorite and have arguably played the toughest schedule in C1 in the state (although Maxpreps doesn't think so).
Also, we all know that many of the top teams have been eliminated because they met up with another strong opponent (or were upset), so making the final 8 doesn't mean you are a top 10 team. For instance, one of the Dora or Eminence won't be in the final 8, but are both top 5 teams likely.
Why were the players sitting out? Just curious.Correct, which is why they play the games. Some comparative scores are meaningless when the two top players are sitting out too. That Stover loss was with the two best players sitting and on their courtwarming, not ours. Same with some of the others. But that stuff is meaningless until the games are actually played. I agree that Walnut Grove is a heavy favorite, they are a tough nut to crack. I remember one game at Bolivar when Nolan McCauley single handedly put them in the final four with the most bizarre charging call I have seen in 55 years of watching high school basketball.
Mouthing off at the refs and getting technical. Seems to have settled them down a lot.Why were the players sitting out? Just curious.
