Walnut Grove lost to Nixa 74-67 in a great battle.
Well Walnut Grove had a very good showing at the Nixa Tournament. Lost in the 3rd place game to Jefferson City Helias 70-67 in OT. I felt like the Grove competed with the larger schools and with a bounce or two going there way they very well could have won the two games that they lost. Congrats to Coach Darin Meinders and the Tigers on a great showing this weekend. Continued success going forward.

Jamestown loses to Sacred Heart in championship of Slater tourney 69-54. Both Jamestown losses have come to Class 2 state ranked teams. Sacred Heart is a legitimate final four candidate and state title contender.

I went to the Slater Tourney Championship game, and you're correct, Sacred Heart is long, tall, and athletic as all get out. Just size alone and the play of the Lyles kid at PG will make them a tough out in the postseason.

I'm going Eminence over Dora since it's at home and Eminence was up big early on them last time and basically let them come back (still up in the air on if I'm going or not).
Advance by a ton over SCC.
Chamois over St. Elizabeth.
Walnut Grove over Halfway by a lot.
That's the only ones I know enough about to make picks on.

WILDWINGS in wild one early, win by 8!!
Advance by the turbo
The Grove by a 20 spot!

Unless the boys from North Andrew have anything to say about it, (I haven't seen them play) one of these 3 will take home the title!

Also, the winner of SJC-North Andrew will most likely play Milan on Friday.

Attended the North Andrew-SJC game. Game is a term I use lightly. Bloodbath is probably the proper word. Final score was 56-28. North Andrew is very, very good. At this point, I don't see anyone beating them before Springfield and they would be my favorite to win it all right now.

Wow, Low scoring. I anticipated a shoot out. Everyone healthy for both sides? By bloodbath you mean really physical?

Out of curiosity...if MSHSAA receives video of players (repeatedly) blatantly trying to hurt other players, can video be used as evidence for punishment, or does the action have to be brought to the attention of MSHSAA by an official from the game?

2017-2018 MBCA Boys Basketball Poll No. 8(Release 1/31)

2017-2018 Boys' Basketball Poll No. 8 (Release 1/31)

The MBCA Basketball poll is selected by a panel of coaches representing each of the 8 MBCA districts and each of the five Missouri basketball classes.

Class 1

1 North Andrew 18-0

2 Advance 14-5

3 Eminence 18-1

4 Jamestown 16-2

5 St. Joseph Christian 16-3

6 Meadville 16-4

7 Lakeland 16-2

8 Winston 16-2

9 Walnut Grove 11-9

10 Dora 17-5

The voters must not read this thread (or they just disagree with me...haha)...I think they are way off on most of these picks after the top 4..

Walnut Grove is a huge favorite for a final four team probably in the most secure region, in my opinion. They don't have a bad loss. Lakeland would likely get blown out by Walnut Grove. (Walnut Grove lost to 2 C4's last week, and beat one.) Rank them in the top 4, pollsters...I think most people would still pick them over North Andrew in a potential semi-final matchup. Lakeland is probably 9 or 10 in my books.

If you look at Meadville's 4 losses, 3 are to bigger classes, but not with tremendous records (combined 46-31 record). I think they need to stay in the 8-10 range. They belong, but not so high.

Outside of the final four favorites...I think Eminence and Dora are neck and neck. Dora is ranked way too low. I'd have them at 5 and 6 right after Na, Adv. Jtwn, WG.

I still think Worth County should be in the Top 10 as likely a Quarterfinal favorite. Worth County did lose twice to North Andrew (once in the closest game of NA's year) and SJC..when they were injured, and a C3 Maryville team. They have 5 losses, but will likely not lose again until down the stretch. I'd sneak them in at 10.

SJC I think is in a good spot based on voting was before last night's game with North Andrew. I think they will likely drop some next poll but need to stay ranked. I'd have them right after Dora.

Winston is benefiting greatly from their schedule, but will likely get to the post season with only 2 losses. That program is solid and strong every season, and are the favorites to win their district, but they haven't shown they can compete with SJC, North Andrew, Worth County, or Jefferson...but look out for them. The question becomes who is better between them and lakeland.

Should create some conversation anyways. I haven't seen many of these teams yet, but comparative scores and strength of schedule can tell a lot of the story.

new poll up this morning...you can vote for 2 players of the year..and change your vote later on in the year, as it will stay open. If I didn't nominate the right guy...let us know here! :) I'm sure there are many many notable players across the state, those are just the ones from the major teams in the state I know about or have seen. https://mosports.forums.rivals.com/threads/class-1-boys-basketball-poll-5.34277/

Anyone have an updated playoff tree on how they think it will go? Not sure if anyone else posted one since I did...here was mine from January 1st...

If the playoffs were held tomorrow, my district and bracket picks:

Semo
District 1: SCC
District 2: Advance
District 3: Eminence
District 4: Dora

Swmo:
District 5: Walnut Grove (Greenfield as #2 seed)
District 6: Drexel
District 7: Lakeland (or halfway...50/50)
District 8: Leeton

NEMO:
District 9: Jamestown (good district here with Glasgow and St. Elizabeth looming)
District 10: Chamois
District 11: Linn County
District 12: Meadville (with Brunswick and Slater as legitimate challengers)

NWMO:
District 13: Winston
District 14: Worth County (but don’t sleep on Pattonsburg or potentially Mercer)
District 15: North Andrew (St. Joseph Christian as a formidable 2 seed)
District 16: Jefferson (Mound City with a great chance to win though)

Sectionals:
Advance over SCC
Eminence over Dora

Walnut Grove over Drexel
Lakeland over Leeton

Jamestown over Chamois
Meadville over Linn County

Worth County over Winston
North Andrew over Jefferson

Quarterfinals:
Advance over Eminence in a classic
Walnut Grove cruises over Lakeland
Jamestown over Meadville in a classic
North Andrew over Worth County in a classic

Semi-Final:
Advance over Jamestown by a decent Margin
Flip a coin on North Andrew/Walnut Grove...give edge to defending champs and the state 3pt record holder

3rd place: North Andrew over Jamestown
Final: Advance gets redemption in Title Game rematch.

Sleeper teams to break my bracket: St. Elizabeth in NE, Pattonsburg or SJC in NW, none to speak of in SW or SE other than teams that will win districts already
