Congratulations. Your coach is a class guy. Good luck in the final 4. I'm going to tell you now that I think Eminence is rolling and will provide all you want in the way of competition.
Thank you and I’m expecting this to be one of the best Final 4’s in history with the teams that are going to be there.

Congrats to Advance on a great run as well. Bubba and the boys had a lot of success the past few years. Read and article on semoball stating that the coach is retiring. Congrats on a great run and career Coach Wheatley. On the flipside, Congrats Coach McBride and the Red Wings!! Bring that title back to SEMO.

Well yeah. I played a lot of town team ball with Pete's father and others in that area. He was a Winona boy, kind of interesting that his wife is a Hall of Fame Volleyball Coach at Winona with 5 state titles.

Shout out to you_dont_know_me for his sleeper Final 4 pick way back in this thread. Never showed that to any of the boys, but sure did show em the fact nobody else was picking them to make any noise. Love HS ball, what a story and what a fun ride.

I will for sure be making the trip to Springfield for that one. That might be the class 1 game of the decade. Of course, this assumes both teams reach the championship.

Appears to me that Eminence has the easier draw in the semis. North Andrew is a pretty rugged crew with a bunch that also has a lot of football players who double in short pants in the winter. Translation: They can get rough and tough.

Eminence might have an easier draw in the semis, but they had a really tough matchup in the quarterfinal. Advance is a dang good team.

Kept it close for a while I see. Dora isn't bad either, they cracked the walnut a short time ago on their floor. It will be fun to see how those freshmen develop over the next few years.

Where is the storm coming out of this year?
Hard to say. WG has played some really tough competition, but has lost to a team that Eminence beat 3 times this year. North Andrew hasn’t lost, but their schedule gets called into question a lot. Chamois flew under the radar all year and is the Cinderella team. Eminence has a great streak, but it’s unkown how they’ll matchup with talented, big bodied guards. There’s a lot still up in the air, which means we have really exciting basketball starting tomorrow!

I would agree with everything you just said. If it’s The Grove and Eminence in the final it could be a rain storm.

Walnut Grove pulled a cheap one and confused the refs. Gilkey got fouled and they sent the Thomazin kid to the line to shoot. He sank both of them and the refs didn’t catch it, despite all of the yelling in the crowd.

I saw that stunt earlier in the year following a time out. It happens.

It was a fantastic game. I truly feel the two best teams got to the end this year. What a ride 2017-2018 has been.
The best two teams definitely got to the end and put on a great show for two great communities and for Southwest Missouri. Great crowd for this battle tonight as well.

First off, congrats to the Redwings! They had the toughest path to the title and got it done.

I think North Andrew belongs in the discussion. Had Walnut Grove shot their normal percentage from 3pt or FT line, or a myriad of other things, this thread might be different. Had North Andrew drawn Chamois in the semis, it would look different too.

All that being said, tremendous achievement by the Grove to get to the title game three years in a row. Those boys play hard and aren’t scared to face anyone.

Early favorites for the title next year (disclaimer, who knows districts, quarters or classifications which may send SJC to C2): Dora, Mound City, Eminence, Winston, St. Elizabeth, Lakeland, and Jefferson. Three teams are NWMO, just speaking from what I see most, so I’ll be anxious to hear who will rise in NEMO and SWMO. Maybe Dora will end up in SW and someone else will emerge from the boot heel.

It has been a really fun journey and discussion throughout the year. We over doubled the posts and had way more views! Looking forward to being even better next year!
