And thankfully both for the SCA and for West Plains this is no more.At one time the SCA had schools class 1 to class 5.
If you really think this has anything to do with "feeling good about themselves" you really have no clue what went into this decision.Completely agree. A step down for Reeds. They can be the big dog with some smaller schools and make themselves feel good. Really disappointed in this move for them.
I don’t know about the whole feel good aspect but I believe they are a better fit in the Big 8 than the Mid Lakes. If you really think this has anything to do with "feeling good about themselves" you really have no clue what went into this decision.
No they fit better with the Mid Lakes especially with Hollister and Forsyth. It's where they should have been when the COC broke up.I don’t know about the whole feel good aspect but I believe they are a better fit in the Big 8 than the Mid Lakes.
Was it travel? If you really think this has anything to do with "feeling good about themselves" you really have no clue what went into this decision.
Aren’t they class 3? Is their anyone else class 3 in the Mid Lakes. I’m talking school size more than logistics. No they fit better with the Mid Lakes especially with Hollister and Forsyth. It's where they should have been when the COC broke up.

WP played Hillcrest in football districts in 2001, Hillcrest has been Class 4 for a VERY long time in football, so I’m gonna go out on a limb and say WP was Class 4 in football in 2001.I believe they were c 5 in 97, 01. I'm old though. 97 I believe they were 5, Salem 4 ava and Mt Grove 3, cabool, willow, Mt view were 2 and Thayer 1.
Clever and Hollister are Class 3. Catholic jumps between the two. Fair Grove and Strafford will grow.Aren’t they class 3? Is their anyone else class 3 in the Mid Lakes. I’m talking school size more than logistics.

Touched a nerve, eh?If you really think this has anything to do with "feeling good about themselves" you really have no clue what went into this decision.
Speaking soley from the perspective of football, they are a much better fit in the Big 8. They have no business competing with Hollister and Forsyth. Now in other sports it maybe a fine fit.No they fit better with the Mid Lakes especially with Hollister and Forsyth. It's where they should have been when the COC broke up.
That maybe so. But we all know football is what drives the majority of athletic decisions at schools. But its not just a football move... that is what I am talking about, looking at the whole picture.
That is not what I asked. It was the right decision, taking everything into consideration.
Translation: you are not happy but want to stick with the company line.I would still like to see us do away with Football conferences. Go to 8 team districts that you play during the regular season plus three other games of your choice. Top 4 in each District make the playoffs and then you cross bracket for the playoffs. But that makes too much sense and works too well in other states for us to follow....
are you saying this about all sports? Or just football? My apologies as now I understand why they are a better fit in a much smaller school size conference that they should dominate on a regular basis.
Mainly football but with that many more kids than the other schools they should be more successful. Don’t worry about mentioning girls basketball.are you saying this about all sports? Or just football?
If I had a kid in school I would be all for a conference close to home. But I’m not. I’m an old man just seeing a school leaving a conference of schools it’s size to go into a conference that they will be the largest by a long ways.I dont think RS was ever considered for that new league.... Mid Lakes will also be very, very good in baseball and boys basketball will be solid as well.
Blasphemy (screamed all in the Joplin “metro”). Just exhausting. Not everything is about the Joplin area
This would solve a lot of issues. Except the constant bitching and moaning of a school that has to play in the same district as someone with 75 more students than them. I’d even argue shoot for 8 teams, when numbers don’t allow use 9. Then just have an 8 game regular season. Results determine bracket. Play on.I would still like to see us do away with Football conferences. Go to 8 team districts that you play during the regular season plus three other games of your choice. Ask Branson…Isn't this conference for those that weren't good enough to win the conferences they were already in so they had to make up a new one so they have a chance to win?
Some weren't big enough and some weren't good enough. You can decide which is which.Isn't this conference for those that weren't good enough to win the conferences they were already in so they had to make up a new one so they have a chance to win?
WP has won or shared the OC title at least 3 times in the last 8 years.Sounds like they couldn't win their conference so they started a new one. More power to them I say
It’s definitely a down year at Webb if y’all are this bored. How many State titles (the only championships that actually matter) did WP win during that time?
Yes West Plains was C5 in football in either late 90/early 2000s. I believe in early 2000s. They were in a 3 team district with Poplar Bluff, Sikeston and I think Farmington. They did this for 2 cycles and maybe 3. Salem was C4 many of those years and sometimes in a C4 district with West Plains, Ozark, and NixaPretty sure WP has never been Class 5 in anything other than basketball, and I don’t think they were class 5 in basketball when they were in the SCA, and if they were it was for a year or two.
Most of the SCA schools weren’t Class 1 in basketball when WP was Class 5 in bball, and now most of the SCA is 3 & 4 in basketball.
