Ozark Mountain Conference

Has anyone seen anything regarding the fate of Lebanon, Camdenton, Waynesville, and Rolla?
CMAC (Columbia, Jeff City & Sedalia Schools) have been asking Camdenton to come in since the league formed. I almost guarantee that if Camdenton joins that the other three schools will be accepted into the CMAC as well.

Those 4 should stay together and try to pull some others from the southwest area. That would be the best option.

Don't think the Ozark Conference is dead yet. Hillcrest joining the OMC, Parkview is not. I would say the OC lives on with 7 teams for the next two years at least.

So only Hillcrest was approved, wonder what the thinking was on Parkview?

Marshfield already has 3 non conference games scheduled for next year so maybe they objected.

I shake my head every time someone on here talks down a little to a team who “plays down a class”.

Other than maybe many Class 6 and Class 1 schools, I’d guess more than 90% of football teams play up or down a class at least twice a season. And, what’s the difference between an 800 student Class 4 school playing a 700 student Class 4 school, versus a 700 student class 4 school playing a 600 student Class 3 school?

Having a schedule full of teams within a couple of hundred students of you sounds pretty solid, if you can pull it off. Then you need to convince your students to strap up and play, assuming you like football.

I have heard Marshfield and Rogersville would have voted against Willard because they were "too big", so Parkview certainly fits into that same mold. From a competition standpoint Willard/Neosho are better but Parkview enrollment would be quite a bit bigger than most of the OMC schools, excluding Branson. I guess since Branson started this whole thing they get to call the shots.

So let me get this straight, CJ tucks tail and bolts the COC for the OMC. They have scheduled Seneca already and are looking to schedule Lamar, two teams that are smaller than them and will likely beat their ass. If you’re going to schedule down, at least schedule wins. Or better yet, don’t leave the Big 8.

Seneca takes a pretty good step back next year with graduation.

Well it is better than playing Webb. Nixa, Carthage, Joplin and Republic every year. Maybe they are not growing like the other conference schools?

Is it better if you still lose?
Most definitely. If you are not growing like the other schools, you have a better chance to compete with those schools which in returns gets more kids out to build or maintain the program. Tipton has done that in the past. Versailles has done it this past year. Clinton is an example as well. Some districts just do not grow like the other schools in conferences.

Looks like West Plains has picked up 2 Non-conference games. Valley View out of Jonesboro Ark. and Popular Bluff.

People in CJ are more interested in games against Seneca, Lamar and Pittsburg than Springfield schools. It creates more buzz.

I hadn't heard this Lamar rumor but I can't think of another match up for CJ that would sell more tickets.

CJ would lose next year but after that it would be a great match up.

Carl Junction is 300ish students smaller then the next smallest COC school.
And around 1300-1400 students smaller than the biggest COC school.

And about 600 students smaller than the average size of all the other COC schools combined.

College Heights??? CJ brings in an 8-man roster and loses 89-46.

And the next smallest school is Webb.
We hold our own. Although everybody still expects them to always beat much bigger schools. It's not going to happen when teams like Nixa and Joplin can pull a team from another 600 to 1000 kids.

Nixa has about 1,000 more kids than CJ and Joplin has about 1300-1400 more kids.
Which makes it even worse lol

And the AD that got Versailles out of their natural home, is already trying to get Smith-Cotton out of the CMAC.

Lamar and Seneca are good pick ups for them. I am sure CJ would have preferred to rejoin the Big 8 but that was not going to happen.

Honestly always thought they were a fish out of water.

Making excuses? Sheesh, work harder. Get better.

For CJ players and fans, the OMC schedule plus games against local powerhouses Seneca and Lamar would be awesome next year.

There’s no shame in playing down two classes against the best in Class 2. And I’d argue it would be a battle with Lamar - right now I wouldn’t want to bet on either team to win that one.

CJ and Seneca are close as well, and only one class apart in size. If you don’t criticize Joplin, Ozark and Nixa for playing a class down against everyone else on their schedules, then no criticism is warranted of a class 4 / class 3 matchup.

Lastly, with all the criticism of adding mileage to the schedule to travel to West Plains and Bolivar, it would make sense to try to add a couple of close games against old rivals now that you have that chance.

CJ doesn't want any part of Lamar next year with what they are losing and what Lamar has returning! JMO!

I am looking forward to those matchups for CJ. It will be awesome. Would love to see them pick up Pittsburg too.
