Liberty Rumor mill- Jones leaving Kearney

Liberty North v. MRVC 2016 (7-3) Better than 4-7 in the Suburban Conf. Just hire the dang youth coaches and make the move.

I am amazed no one has mentioned Lane Kiffin, surely he would be interested - weather here much nicer than Florida
Did you have to say it here? Why does Little Johnny Culdesac always have to hear this stuff on interwebs? It's going to ruin it for him.

Those are interesting. I don't believe for a minute that Oak Grove would have scored on them, though.

Little birdy told me that the almighty dollar has reared its ulgy head and it will be announced soon that Greg Jones will become the next coach at Liberty North.. Sad day here in K-MO....

Who cares about Staley? Liberty North runs the Northland now. Everyone knows Kearney owned Staley, so Staley quit playing them. Jones will do the same at LN.

There's a little disparity on the years of experience. LPS takes 25 years to get 70k with a masters and 30 years to get 60k in KPS. Pretty good difference when retirement comes into the picture. But as an administrator none of that matters.

It will be interesting for sure, have a feeling if he does in fact make the change, that LN will be a major force in very short order. Very interested to see what he does with Van Dyne the young QB. His offense could make that kid very special.

Tophat is unavailable for comment, but he did send out a press release regarding this issue:

"As for respect, believe me, among the coaching fraternity (where it really matters) Coach Jones get TONS of respect. Among the folks here honestly, he could win 10 titles in a row some would still find fault with him. Yours truly is very busy with other pursuits but coming back here in a not too small part to defend Coach Jones when I feel it is warranted (not really anyone else on here anymore to do it). As for Liberty North, they are a fine program, and a fine town. No, they don't seem to have a "football culture there," but they are great opponents and good people. Kearney loves the challenge of playing them. And should Coach Jones accept the position, Kearney will still love playing them. Regards, The Top."
If you call five weeks of hell known as pneumonia a pursuit so be it. I am very glad for Coach Jones...............whether anyone in Kearney likes it or not upward mobility is what any career is all about and if North is offering more (the rubbish on here about the FB culture there is frankly amazing) he would be a fool not to take the position. Given he is inheriting probably the #1 Class 5 team in 2017 with about as promising a QB as I've seen in the Northland in many, many years (VanDyne, a kid with major KTown bloodlines) the Staley folks (you know who you are LOL) should be bracing for the storm to come...................and when not playing KTown I will be rooting for him and the Eagles big time!

Hope you're feeling better Top, you always bring a very good perspective. And yes, Liberty North will be something to watch.

Liberty is not a football town. Call it rubbish, but relative to Webb, Kearney, Harrisonville, and the towns like them (esp. Kearney where FB is the center of everything,) Liberty just says "ehhh" to football. Its just another sport.

That's the case in most bigger places. NKC residents as a whole could care less about Staley, same could be said for LSW, Blue Springs Schools, Football is cool and there is a ton of pride, but there are enough kids for others sports to rule also.

More difficult to get hardcore buy-in ( for a coach's program) from kids in a metro-plex mini-mall megaloplis high school...

No way those Liberty parents buy into Jones work out program they want to go on vacation no can do playing for Jones. Liberty parents have run off a plenty of good coaches in all sports.
Well, if it's a done deal, they are getting one of the best in the business. No doubt about that. That's a good start on changing things, if, in fact, they need changed.

They will buy into safe spaces, soccer games, all sports are equal, beating the Bluejays, Ipads, college prep courses, looking good, and expensive long distance vacations.

I'm also hearing Jones gets to bring 2-3 assistants with him. I believe this is where it gets really interesting for Kearney

Yes both Sean and Yale are uncles with that name pedigree alone the kid is the real deal all the VanDyne boys were multiple sport greats at Kearney.

To go along with the theme of this thread: The family must have lost its way and got soft, really soft, and forgot how to work, and sacrifice. So they moved to Liberty North. They are now yuppies and Jones will have to whip them into shape.

In all seriousness, I really don't know the family. Probably a great family, and from what I have heard the kid is a stud.
