Girls Head Coaching Jobs

Wow… idk if I believe the story about the Pendergrass hiring not being related to her stepping down

Clark did say that the job will be “open to all candidates” so we’ll see how this plays out. If the job is really open - not preordained for Pendergrass to get it - there should be plenty of qualified candidates

with it being so late it will limit the number of candidates as many are already locked in with contracts and such.

Just takes money to get out. Lots of people would pay to get out for that job.
I've never heard of a coach or teacher being denied getting out of a contract. School boards aren't likely to stand in the way of a person who can make more money elsewhere, or force someone to stay knowing they would rather leave.

Clearly this is right, but there are some people who have signed contracts that won't even put in for other jobs. Now Nixa maybe attractive enough that it is different. But I would still say the applicant pool will be smaller due to the time of year it is. But ultimately it is probably all a moot point as their new coach is more than likely already on staff.

There will be some apps, sure. But nothing compared to if the job were posted in April. Lets see what happens but will be really surprised if Pendergrass is not the choice

Could Larsen from Strafford be a candidate? Heard he put in for the Evangel job. With what Nixa has returning and the addition of his daughter’s he would probably have an easier path to the Final 4 than Strafford does. And he is a really good coach

I could see that. who would you rather have Larsen or Pendergrass? Tough one.

I saw Grant went to be the boys assistant coach at Seneca with Cort Hardy
That’s a big step down for one of the better coaches but he may need a mental break after last season. Being the assistant is a lot less stressful

You obviously haven't been to a smaller school. Alot of schools will not let you out of your contract this late. Alot charge you to get out.

Finally got to the bottom of Pendergrass leaving.

They told him he was gonna have to teach health, that they were taking PE away from him. When he asked why, it was made clear that the new baseball coach had first choice, and he wanted PE. So he asked why after all his success it wasn’t his choice. He was told girls basketball didn’t sit that high on the totem pole. I had this confirmed by THREE people, separately.

So. I’m with him. Screw Kickapoo for this. All he did was win.

Well, those three people are incorrect. Poo doesn’t have a new baseball coach. And Coach Pendergrass has been teaching Health previously.

This is where I get frustrated at the Carl Junction hire/search. CJ hired a Junior High teacher. Nixa hired a coach with a lot of winning experience at a class 3 school.

No offense to Talbert as she seems to have done a good job, but there is a big difference between Nixa and FG. Not sure she is ready for that job. But best of luck to her, good for her on cashing in on her success.

Maybe. But his resume is better than hers if there is an objective look at things.

Objectively I think she could have accomplished at least what Pendegrass did during his tenure at Poo. His state title came when 2 of his starters went on to play at Power 5 schools. When was the last time a SW Mo team had 2 teammates go on to play at Power 5 schools. And I mean play at Power 5, Warren and Sanders did not see much bench time during their collegiate careers.
