Coach Mapes decided to take a teaching job at Farmington with his wife. He will be assisting Coach Sancegraw on the girl's basketball side of things. He will definitely be missed at CHS. His record was somewhere in the 240-40 range during his 10 years at the helm. He had 9 out of 10 district titles, 5 sectional wins, 2 final four runs, and a third place and championship finish. Just gaudy numbers. This was definitely NOT a board or admin force out, I believe he did what he deemed to be in the best interest of his family. He leaves some awfully big shoes to fill.Central(Park Hills) job is posted. Anybody know what the set story is there?
There are folks out there who think that Bill Belichick, John Wooden, and Vince Lombardi didn't know what they were doing. Farmington is definitely getting a dang good one.Coach Mapes decided to take a teaching job at Farmington with his wife. He will be assisting Coach Sancegraw on the girl's basketball side of things. You gotta really want to get out of a place to go to Palmyra right now.Palmyra has hired Kelsey Stuart, most recently of Lafayette County, as its new Girls Basketball Coach... per KHQA

First comment on twitter was "she doesn't know what she is getting into."You gotta really want to get out of a place to go to Palmyra right now.
I dont beleive she did. I think she was basically told to resign. They have some talent.Did Forsyths coach take a different job? What do they have returning?
Pretty much her fault if she doesn't. 30 seconds on the ol' Google machine would provide some pretty quick insight.First comment on twitter was "she doesn't know what she is getting into."
Not sure why Forsyth doing this would be a surprise to anyone. They have a history of running off coaches, although, it is normally on the guys side. Mike Wilson, Josh Hart, and Mike Linehan all come to mind. All found success but in the end ticked of the wrong parent or group of parents. And all found measures of success after leaving, in one form or another. She had done a nice job there. They were pretty tough last year until their best player went down.I dont beleive she did. intresting hire. I have always thought that was a place just waiting for the right person. There is talent there if the right person can reach it.Heard Trish Marsh took the Reeds Spring job. Hollister is still open, last I heard
My guess on Coach Mapes is that Sanchegraw is close to retiring and Mapes will likely take over the Farmington job in a year or two. Just a hunch.Mapes would have returned a team that just finished 3rd in the state with most of those kids back. Is he getting into administration at Farmington? A curious move to become the assistant at Farmington.
So leaving the top girls job in area for what may be an Ok one??My guess on Coach Mapes is that Sanchegraw is close to retiring and Mapes will likely take over the Farmington job in a year or two. Just a hunch.
I’ve been wondering the same. Is it a crazy board or Admin? It’s been a month…they prolly have someone hand-picked.What is the word in California? Any coach hired yet?
I don't know Carr but seems like this was a pretty decent job. His winning percentage does not look in line with what they are accustomed to. Does anyone have any incite? Is Carr a good hire?Kevin Carr to California from Smith-Cotton?
I was thinking the same thing. I only have seen a couple of Smith-Cotton games over the past couple of years and his teams did play hard, but were overmatched talent wise. I would have thought there would have been a lot of interest in this job, as they seem to have a winning pedigree and some good talent coming up?
