Girls Head Coaching Jobs

.....Makenzie Mudd, new head coach of the Mexico Lady Bulldogs.....Congrats Makenzie...! C =)~

.

Is he taking anyone to Nixa with him?
Nope. He’s going as the freshman coach. Needs a few years to retire, and Nixa pay is SO MUCH better than Poo.

2 freshmen (2027s) are going to Link. The cupboard is bare. They’ll have 2 more good years. The 2026s are bad. And nothing in pipeline.

***edit—according to published pay schedules, his pay will go DOWN. Craziness.

Oh so Perryman is staying I presume… thought you meant she was stepping down and Pendergrass was taking her place.

I have a hard time believing Pendergrass would coach under Perryman but crazier things have happened

I know, right? But this is 100% confirmed.

The cupboard is bare at Poo or Nixa?

If it’s for retirement $, he should go to Republic. They pay the most in the area. Plus rumor is that Flood is leaving after this year. Poo will probably be better without him

Better without him? All he’s done is win.

And he has had more talent during the time he has been there than anyone in SWMO
He thumped Nixa last year without anywhere near the talent. And the year before he had 1 player, and beat Nixa’s SIX upper class college players. If the talent was equal, he won. And he never lost when he shouldn’t have. The sign of a good coach.

He is a better coach than Perryman, but that bar is pretty low. He has lost multiple games to Republic through the years where Poo had more talent. That’s just off the top of my head. Would have to go through Poo’s schedule the past few years and could make more. If he truly leaves, wait and see they will be better

More info from a Kickapoo source… he’s going to nixa to take the drivers Ed position, presumably the one vacated by Middleton, the new evangel coach. I’m sure he’ll get paid more money plus better retirement

Flood is one of the best coaches around, that’s for sure

Frosh hoops, tennis, drivers Ed.

The publicly published pay schedule indicates a pay decrease. Something else has to be happening here. I heard Perryman was leaving to be with Eagan. Maybe he’s the head guy starting next year for a couple years until Peyton is ready to take over. Just a strange occurrence. The Nixa AD needs to cut the leak off in his house. I heard about this on Monday. It was making the rounds by his daughter.

I dont know what he taught previously as the Poo coach and am too lazy right now to look it up, but maybe whatever it is doesn't pay as well as the Nixa Drivers Ed position. The coaching stipend at Poo may be more than at Nixa but we're talking probably a grand or two difference maybe, as opposed to a lot more than that potential pay difference between whatever he does for Poo now versus the Nixa driver's ed job.

But maybe you have taken the time to look up what he made in his teaching spot at poo versus what he'll make at Nixa as the driver's ed guy and are a step ahead of me.

Your theory about Perryman leaving could be true as well, but Perryman and ex hubby are co-parenting their kid and she may not be leaving this area for that reason.

I overcame my laziness and Pendergrass had a health/pe position at Poo. No idea what that paid, probably 50-55k give or take without the coaching stipends, but pretty sure this move is mainly about money/retirement, one way or the other.

I am pretty sure the published online source for Missouri Teacher Salaries gives only the teacher's classroom salary and does not include extra duty pay, such as coaching, class sponsors, bus duty, etc. Some schools with money are starting to pay a decent stipend for head football and head basketball coaches. The vast majority of small school coaches, assistants, JV, and middle school coaches are underpaid for the time commitment and hassles.

There’s no chance he’s making more money at Nixa. The salary schedules are published. SPS pays more than anyone in SWMO, and it’s not really a close second (REPMO is second, FTR, but again not all that close). No chance it’s about retirement/money.

Btw…all teaching positions within a dist are paid the same. The only variable is years of service and education level. 1st grade teacher, PE teacher, Biology teacher, and Drivers Ed…all on same scale.

Teachers have figured out the best way to increase their salary is to continue their education instead of taking on extra duty at school such as coaching. Where I worked a master degree pays $5K more (up to two master degrees), a specialist degree another $5K, and a doctorate another $5K. That's $20K annually! And the district will pay for 3 hrs of college classes per semester. So by taking one graduate course per semester paid for by the district, a teacher can earn a master degree in 5 years, The district also gives smaller pay raises for additional college credit as someone is working towards advanced degrees. Many will pay out of pocket to earn another degree faster. Many of the graduate classes are online. It's possible to earn a doctorate while teaching in 6 to 8 years.

Most district operate in similar ways. Thirty years ago, our school district may have had one or two administrators with a doctorate, Now there is probably 20-25 admin and classroom teachers with doctorate or working toward it. The majority of teachers today either have a master or are working on it.

Why coach a sport and work all the hrs after school, and weekends, and put up with the hassles, headaches, and upset parents when you can earn more money by taking classes a couple nights a week or online for a few years?

Those are incredible numbers - and more the exception than the rule. In many districts, however, the difference in salary between a bachelors and doctorate may be around $5000. Much less than your $15-20,000. And that is without any tuition assistance.

Yes I am aware our district is very fair with salaries. I'm sure it varies greatly between different size districts and different socioeconomic areas. I would be curious to hear from other districts across the state.

Yeah. That was my point.

This may just be quality of life change. Poo girls have 530am practice because the boys have after school, and there’s only one gym. Nixa starts practice the last hour of school as the kids take “athletics” as a class and begin practice. Go in late, out early. He has a young family. It matters. And now it’s drivers Ed (which is his side gig, too) so it may REALLY be worth it.

Oh no, I totally get that part for sure. Just letting Razzy know it was a $$$ thing. Step down or not, I’d much rather be at Nixa than anywhere in SPS. Granted Poo is the one major outlier in that district, it’s still something I’d want no part of.

Are his kids in the Nixa district? That makes a big difference too.

That’s more like the smaller districts. Larger districts aren’t reflective of that small of a difference. But in smaller districts you might only have one or two with a doctorate. And those folks surely aren’t teachers.

No. SPS. His wife is also an SPS employee.

I’ve always felt like Kickapoo needed a gym addition/upgrade. Parkview, Glendale and Hillcrest each have two gyms. IDK about Central. So between that, the relative small size and age of the current gym, and being the so called richest SPS school and their bball tradition for both boys and girls, it’s never made sense to me that there isn’t at least a second gym there.

So if it’s not about money/retirement like I was told, then idk… could be more about jumping off the proverbial sinking ship if the pipeline is indeed drying up at poo as Bald alluded to.

Nixa open. Perryman gone. Now the Pendergrass move makes sense. With that pipeline of talent watch out. They can finish 2nd or 3rd a lot. Depending on where IWA sits in the bracket…
