Clark took a big jump bc they graduated 3 D2 players and the other younger D2 prospect got hurt and was hampered/held back this season, and there was an obvious effort to feature Clark offensively. Plus she went from being the second youngest starter on the team to the oldest and by far the most varsity-experienced. This season was tailor made for her to take a step up.Was wondering the same thing. For the sake of the program let’s hope so. To have zero playoff wins in 10 years with the amount of talent that has went through the program is unacceptable. Grant could be big time if she continues to develop. I am afraid if it is status quo she could regress which seems to be the norm for most of the juniors and seniors in the program. Clark was an exception.
What is going on at Ava? Seems people think Coach Houk is done there, but have never seen it posted? Are they just promoting an assistant or has Houk decided to stay?It is already open.
The job is posted on the Moteachingjobs website. He's done thereWhat is going on at Ava? Seems people think Coach Houk is done there, but have never seen it posted? Are they just promoting an assistant or has Houk decided to stay?
My apologies. I must have missed seeing it.The job is posted on the Moteachingjobs website. He's done there
Was wondering when/if there would be news on this.Supposedly Nixa’s coach is not moving to
St. Louis, so full speed ahead on underachieving.
Coach Durst took an admin job, will be interesting to see what kind of applicant pool they have this time around. I don't think they had a ton of interest last time.Again lol
You can’t judge upcoming progress with JV games in girls basketball. Everybody else’s good sophomores were playing varsity.I think their incoming sophomore group is pretty good. Their JV won 15 or 16 games I believe. I agree though, definitely not a destination job.
Nobody is comparing them to Carl Junction.I think out of the last 10 years Carl Junction's JV was good once.
My only point is JV doesn't matter muchNobody is comparing them to Carl Junction.
Nothing about no more talent???
Mount Vernon?Nope...The girls got hurt and quit on the team. Coach never gave up!
Sounds like he will remain as an assistant principal in the 2/3 building and will be an assistant baseball coach.
Did I hear correctly that his daughter was a senior on this year's squad or was it last year? Don't know about the talent situation but anecdotally I don't think it uncommon for head coaches to give it up when their youngest finishes playing for them. It seems to be a time when burnout sets in and career moves, even to other programs, occur. Seen it happen many times and I've been on this old rock for quite a while.Of course he is leaving because there isn't enough talent left. He says he just decided after the season but this was the plan for years. The thing is he is right. As good of a coach as he is he isn't winning with next year's roster so he may as well do something else.
Thanks for the info. Good to know. She is graduating this year along with his 2400 point scorer. He will be an assistant baseball coach until Dr. Cook gets tired of the head coaching job. He will probably be the head baseball coach eventually unless a college assistant job in the area is offerred.
I just heard from a guy who knows a guy, etc., that his son is a baseball player and he wants to coach his son just as he has his daughter. Thanks for the info. Good to know.
Coach Mapes had one heck of a winning record there. Never won less than 20 games.Central(Park Hills) job is posted. Anybody know what the set story is there?
It's still open, no one hired yetWho ended up with the Ava job?
