Who will win the Rematch?

WG tiger dad...I know Walnut Grove is a three point machine...(especially Thomazin) how many career 3's is Logan up to?

Do you know what their program record is for 3's made in a game as a team? Wondering if they need to submit all that stuff to mshsaa.

Also, have they seeded the Nixa tournament yet? Curious to hear who they will play?
Typically the Nixa Tournament does not seed, at least that’s what they have done in the past
The Tournament does not seed they pick the teams randomly.

Harrisonville seems to be a winnable game for them. Watched Harrisonville yesterday. They are solid, but not flashy or have one or two unreal players. Could be an impressive win to the resume.

Anyone have any other thoughts on the top 10? We are due for an MBCA poll release soon I think? Anyone have their playoff tree mapped out like I did before? any changes or injuries?

I'll take a stab at it.

#1 North Andrew
#2 Lakeland
#3 Winston
#4 Jamestown
#5 Eminence
#6 Advance
#7 St. Joseph Christian
#8 Dora
#9 Chamois
#10 Walnut Grove

I know that Walnut Grove has a bad record, but they've yet to lose to a Class 1 opponent, and the teams they've lost to have been tough schools, including a <10 point loss to Class 5 Carthage, who many would argue would be in the top 10 in their class

Advance doesn't best Eminence in the rankings because of their amount of losses, even though they've bested Eminence in a head-to-head match.

They play a pack line, sagging man to man defense and ball control on offense, which is unique in todays game. They want the score in the 30-40s if they can.

1-2 years ago, I’d say this would be a perfect assessment. They’ve been scoring in the 50s/60s this year often, although I’d say the goal is to hold opponents in the 30s/40s.

Lost a close hard fought battle to Jamestown early in the year. Beat a very solid New Bloomfield squad that’s been state ranked this year in 2A. And had state ranked Eugene on the ropes for 31 minutes in a recent loss. They held Eugene, a team that can score with the best of them, to 25 through 3 quarters. Things fell apart in the 4th, but was definitely one of their better games.

The answer to your other questions earlier.
Logan Thomazin has made 11 3’s in a game earlier in the year against a good Class 3 Mnt. Vernon team. His running career total is up to 409 made 3’s. As a team Walnut Grove has made 20 3’s in a game.

1. North Andrew
2. Winston
3. Eminence
4. Jamestown
5. Lakeland
6. Advance
7. St. Joseph Christian
8. Walnut Grove
9. Hurley
10. Dora

Hurley has won 9 straight since starting 2-5. Walnut Grove could be a ten loss team making the final 4. Lakeland to me doesn’t seem to have an impressive win in their schedule, which the same could be said for Halfway.

Greenfield could get votes as they have 8 of their last 10.

The WG/Hurley/Greenfield district could be an interesting one.

I think the thing voters need to look at is, who in the Southwest can beat walnut grove head to head? No one has done it yet in class 1. Hard to go against a team that has been to the final four the last two years and has most of the core still.

Winston is kind of in the same boat as Lakeland...largely untested (but for some early season games) and are really young. I think they are probably still down in the bottom five of top 10, but will know more when they play SJC soon.

New MBCA poll

#1 Advance 11-3

#2 North Andrew 14-0

#3 Dora 14-3

#4 Jamestown 13-1

#5 Winston 14-1

#6 Eminence 12-1

#7 Lakeland 13-1

#8 Walnut Grove 8-7

#9 St. Joseph Christian 14-3

#10 Meadville 12-3

Eminence still getting shafted by being put behind a Dora team that they've already beat.

First round of the Liberty Invitational

Eminence over Mtn. Home 94-38

Wright County over Winona 66-57

Thayer over Summersville 75-14

Liberty (Mountain View) is currently playing Koshkonong, and I can only assume Liberty will win that one in a blowout.

Many are arguing Carthage is a top 10 team in Class 4? Really? Who is arguing that?

thread readers, I'm getting high tech...just added a poll question to the top of this page...go back and give it a vote...probably the most debated thing on here lately..I will also take suggestions on what else to vote on! Maybe we will do this every couple of days.

note: I think it only lets you put one poll on a thread..so I'll just make other polls for fun...I will try not to spam the whole board with a new question all the time.

I have only seen WG once this year and I can say that was the first time I have ever seen a WG, Meinders coached team, be out worked. Almost like the edge was gone. Of course that was 2 weeks ago or so. Still think they are the team to beat out of SWMO. The two most likely teams to give them a run for their money are Hurley and Greenfield.

might as well print that quote out and put it on their bulletin board :)

Just wondering who they were playing when you watched them get outworked????

Fan Not any part of the coaching team at winston. Looking at the game schedule this week I see there are some big games this
Jefferson is in the north platte tournament
North Andrew is in the king city tournament
A team not on the radar is Polo they are in the north platte tournament and gave winston a run for there money in the Osborn tournament last week
Worth county is in the NW missouri tournament
St joe Christian at Winston on the 23rd
Looks like a good week to go watch so games

Walnut Grove beat a 10-4 Weaubleau squad 79-48 last night. Seems like The Grove is starting to hit its stride and get healthy.

I wonder if Fair Grove, Mountain Grove, Ash Grove, Oak Grove and Pilot Grove take offense to the “the Grove”. I smell lawsuit...haha. I always knew they would be ready.

I’m not sure Da Bulls could get off as many 3 pointers either.

I’m not sure Coach Ditka’s Chicago Bears could outshoot Thomazin...

Not sure about “ the Grove “ lawsuit. Lol it’s just something that started a few years ago and stuck. This whole team can shoot it a little bit. You sag off of any of them and they will make you pay for it.

Polo is Class 2. They are also 8-7. They have had some good wins, but they will not challenge for anything seriously with Mid-Buch, Stanberry and Plattsburg being in the same district.

We have 13 responses to the posted poll, anyone care to share who they voted for or why they voted the way they did?

I voted Advance not because Advance is bad, but because Dora and Eminence are very good.
