Maybe

You deny that a lot of college grads didn’t buy papers, sleep with professors, and buy test answers from assistant undergrads.
Now who is not being rational! The money some people made at the Missouri University extension taking test for others was lucrative no doubt for some!!

You are making the exceptions be the rule. That is not reasonable.

Why is Willard terrible?

Find an identity and stick with it. Build a culture. It’s all about consistency. Teaching kids a new scheme every year is hard for the best of coaches simply because 14-18 year old boys knuckleheads.
It’s harder for smaller schools to do this because of the limited availability of players/ types of players. But there is no reason why a bigger school should not be able to do this though.

A new scheme every year is not ideal, but you do need to adjust to your personnel. I prefer to adjust within the system as opposed to trying to bring in a new scheme wholesale. You still have your identity, but you aren't banging your head against a wall with a new crop of players who have different skill sets than the old.

Class 6 First vs. Last media rankings of season

Alright, I decided to compare the first released media rankings to the most recent to see who gained/lost the most positions. Who was a disappointment and who was a surprise. The first rankings are on the left and the most recent are on the right.

Class 6
1. Liberty North---------------------------1. CBC
2. CBC------------------------------------2. Nixa
3. Rockhurst-----------------------------3. Lee's summit North
4. DeSmet--------------------------------4. Blue Springs South
5. Lee’s Summit North------------------5. De Smet
6. Nixa----------------------------------6. Seckman
7. Marquette-----------------------------7. Lee's Summit
8. Blue Springs South------------------8. Rock Bridge
9. Oak Park------------------------------9. Park Hill
10. Joplin------------------------------10. Troy Buchanan

Biggest disappointments - Liberty North ranked number 1 and falling completely out is obviously the biggest one here. Rockhurst, Marquette, Oak Park, and Joplin were also ranked in the beginning but not the end. Overall only half of the week 1 ranked teams ended up ranked at the end.
Biggest surprises - I'd say the biggest mover/surprise in the rankings would be Seckman going from NR to 6th. The bottom half is full of teams that weren't ranked in the beginning but I would imagine that is pretty common.

Compare to Calpreps:

1. Lee's Summit North
2. Nixa
3. Blue Springs South
4. CBC
5. Lee's Summit
6. Liberty North
7. DeSmet
8. Liberty
9. Blue Springs
10. Park Hill

The regional delusions disappear with the objective data.

Lamar and Stockton

I know we all have different feelings about calpreps but it has Lamar as a two score favorite. Even before projecting it, I think you have to say Stockton has a shot. This isnt the same Lamar we have seen in the past even if they are still a better team than most.
Just a thought, put Stockton in the Big 8 and I think they are East Newton. I have watched both play and the physicality of Lamar will be a problem.

Well this is going to be a close one. Final NBC poll tied at 49% apiece

A long term UC Berkeley study found that economist where correct about 23% of the time and can barely predict economic developments past 1 quarter.

Economist are horrible at their job because.... well they are just guessing using outdated and biased models and view points. Often view points that are politically motivated...On both sides

A Psychic chicken could hit at a 23% rate. But people keep touting up those experts as EXPERTS. That is part of the issue we have in large part people getting a economic degree and controlling things is really laughable and worthless. 23% prediction rate is insane and that people give them any credence is even more mind boggling. .

This is the definition of a red herring in the actual discussion that was going on. We were talking about economic trends of the past. This study is about overprecision in economists predictions, a.k.a. the future (which, incidentally, didn't show that the predictions were wildly wrong, just that they were slightly over-precise in their predictions when a slightly wider range would have been better). Did you also know that a couple of the sources used in the study were from weather forecasting studies?

Also, a point of intellectual consistency, why are you trusting the expert economists who authored the study if you don't trust economists? Do you trust economists or do you not? Or do you only trust economists when their information matches what you want it to say? We are all guilty of this on occasion, of course.

Just so we are clear here: I am not saying that economists are perfect, or even great: I'm saying that not only do you not know what you're talking about in this instance; you are intellectually inconsistent in this instance; and you are an absolutely flawless example of the Dunning-Kruger effect on this subject (which we all are on at least some things).

But none of this means I can't have a discussion with you or that I dislike you in any way; on the contrary, as much as I disagree with your points of view and methods of argumentation, I greatly prefer an argument with a person that at least attempts to argue with words rather than memes far more often than not.

West Plains/Logan Rogersville game moved???

That would be awesome. But I cannot believe they actually got a Loves to come to town.
Hills be darned I think US 63 eventually goes four full lanes all the way between West Plains and Jonesboro one fine day. It is the expressway between Kansas City and Memphis. It will all come down to Ravenden and Imboden Arkansas land owners, though!

Lamar and Stockton

Stockton have any chance to beat Lamar? When is that last time Lamar didn't win a district? MSHSAA goes back to 2010 but I'm fairly confident they won at least a couple districts before that?
I think Baileys first year they won the district and then lost to Mtn Grove the next game. The following year was the bad year and then they started being competitive after that. I’m old so don’t ask me what year that was.
