Versailles leaving Tri-County for Ozark Highlands

Had a good FB buddy way back in the late 90s who went to and played at California. I remember us going to a playoff game at Platte County it was a stellar atmosphere and very intense game! Yet another great long term memory thanks for brining the Pintos into this convo............
Had to go back and peek at this it was a 1997 3A quarterfinal won by California on the way to the title in OT 13-6.

One of the best gameday atmospheres in central Missouri - old Riley Field on the blue-and-red Bermuda Grass, fans circling the track-less field. It just feels like mid-Missouri football. And I didn’t even go to Cali, just played against them a bunch. Always admired them

Coach Lab just got inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. The long time coach when they won the State Title and made at least one other appearance, but I think it was 2. Also came back as the DC when they made the 3 semis in a row from 2013-2015. They had some really big and physical teams throughout the years.

That Platte County game was vs. Sherman and his physical beasts. Everyone left that stadium pretty much knowing the survivor was going to win it all.

Hannibal would join GAC but GAC will Screw them over and put them with the small schools division!!!

GAC need to Align their conference's more better

i agree, Why is everybody issue is travel. you think Centralia is happy to travel up to Clark County every other year probably not but there still in the CCC. the only conference's you don't see travel is the STL, and KC schools. if you guys want a Tri-County to be a competitive conference then, let's just Add Bowling Green, Hannibal, Mexico, and Moberly and Osage, Eldon, and California moves to Ozark highlands

You guys probably thinking i lost it or something but I didn't, add them 4 schools and watch the Tri-County become one of the best Small to mid-School conferences in the state. If you think Hannibal would destroy everyone i think not: Blair oaks, Hallsville, Southern Boone and Boonville, will give Hannibal a game.

Sounds like Dylan Perrin.
and baseball in the tri-county is a complete different beast in itself. Id say one of the toughest medium size conferences in the state.

Favorite place to play ball. Water tower, train tracks near field. Intense crowd presence.

I coached against the 2012 and 2013 teams. Excellent teams. Couldn't get by John Burroughs. Very salty.

Heard from a reliable source - Versailles might not be the only one on the move to Ozark Highlands. Clinton could be the next one. They wanted Versailles to come along.

Marshall have a landing spot in the MRVC West? As the world turns in realignment continues.

Can't wait to find out. Will be damn interesting.

I heard Marshall has put out feelers but nothing solid.

Per Rod Smith of KRCG 13 - Versailles leaving officially for next season. Should put some wrench in some schedules.

Any word out of Clinton? Heard they were suppose to vote on moving last night.

I’ll post when I have time. I am hearing a lot of crazy things involving NCMC, CCC, EMO, Tri County and L&C. We could see the end and merger of a few conferences

i say NCMC, EMO, and L&C will end. Tri-County will Merge With some EMO, and Some NCMC Schools and

CCC will Merge with One NCMC and possibly One School from EMO that's is my guess

CCC
Bowling Green
Clark County
Centralia
Highland
Kirksville
Macon
Monroe City
Palmyra
South Shelby

Tri- County
Large
Mexico
Fulton
Moberly
Booneville
Blair Oaks
Eldon
Hallsville
Osage
Southern Boone

Small
California
Louisiana
Mark Twain
MMA- think this be a perfect conference them
Montgomery County
North Callaway
South Callaway
Van-Far

I think Wright City would be a perfect fit for Gateway North Division due to their School size and Closer road trip

For the tri county I think this would be terrible. I’m sure the patrons of California would love the Monday night 2hr trip to Louaisianna for girls basketball…I’m no AD or administrator but this has to make sense for more than just football.

And would kirksville really want to join a conference of majority Class 1 and 2 schools?

Tri County needs to drop their by laws of having football, I don’t know this for a fact but have heard you must sponsor it to be a member, and add Fatima. They’re a good local school that is competitive and would add another good team in almost every sport. And then go add another non-conference game in football and stay out of this mess of merging.

I'm pretty sure Tri-County will just take Fulton and call it a day. But Fatima makes the most sense but you have to sponsor football in the Tri-County.

Won't Happen in Tri-County. I can see Mexico, Moberly, and Fulton joining and potentially Centralia. thats it.

Not a joke at all. Hannibal is not a sports juggernaut in any way shape or form.

And in reality, Mark Twain would be the perfect fit to replace Brookfield geographically and enrollment wise, but 0% chance Mark Twain has any interest in that.

Bowling Green be a better fit than Mark Twain would be. I would love Mark Twain Back in CCC but they left for a reason

What I know.

Bowling Green not happy in EMO

South Shelby and Highland want out of CCC

Lewis and Clark may go 8 man minus Harrisburg and Fayette. They do not want to go 8man and are looking to form new conference. Heard Linn, Russellville, South Callaway maybe Tipton. Talk that Eugene and New Bloomfield like what they see with Russellville and Linn. May explore starting up programs.

NCMC will be around on more year. Tri-County will stay at 7 this next season. Not everyone is happy in Tri County.

Expect a lot of movement with CCC, EMO, Tri-County and NCMC in 2024.

When it’s all said and done 2 of those conferences won’t be around and there will be a new Mid Mo conference.

Who isn't happy in the Tri-County? I can see Blair Oaks' flat out dominance across the board in all sports could make the situation difficult. I also could see a rift between the Columbia area schools vs the Lake area schools.

I wasn’t told who but that’s what I assumed as well. I’d say it has to do with expansion of the conference. The conference could easily expand by 6 or schools but the Lake schools aren’t interested for my understanding.

Fatima could have an elite football program if Osage Countians weren't so stubborn with their tax dollars. Even with them having soccer, they have a lot of athletes in that school, and I could see them blossoming into a Southern Boone style of program in good time. I don't know if some of you on here quite understand how dominant they are in non-football sports. They always have great athletes across the board. They have a community that passionately supports athletics, every kid grows up wanting to be a Comet. They're not short on money, either. Strange that they don't want to use any money on athletics or school improvements. Westphalia is a neat little historic German town, I hope they make the right move now that Russellville and Linn are starting programs.

Speaking of upstart programs in the Show-Me conference, I do know that New Bloomfield now has a youth football team. They're completely screwed by the greed of the Jeff City School District. If New Bloomfield and Holts Summit could ever combine into a school district, we're looking at a healthy small high school of roughly 300 kids. The two towns are not even 10 minutes apart, and Holts Summit has 2 elementary schools. But that would never happen, especially now that NB has a 2nd high school.

Eugene would be a slow-developing football program that could accelerate under the right coach. They're very similar to Russellville, demographically. But it would be a slam dunk addition for Russellville, who would no longer get screwed over by their independence. The closest teams to Russellville that mirror their size are in a 10-team conference, so Russellville has to travel the state for non-conference games. As Jefferson City continues to sprawl out, the Russellville and Eugene School Districts are going to continue to grow. Eugene is also aided by the Lake, serving as a halfway point between Jefferson City and the Lake. You can call me crazy, but you're going to see Russellville and Eugene continuously grow into Class 2 schools in a few years. I think they're going to remind folks of when Southern Boone got football and Hallsville ended up joining them a few years later. The demographics are eerily similar at both schools.

Show-Me Conference football will be awesome!
