Oakville graduate and former assistant coach Tim Zambo has
been named the new head coach at Seckman High School replacing Steve Cookson
who resigned earlier this spring.

Mark Anderson
following a strong run as the head basketball coach at Knob Noster has been
named as the next head basketball coach at Moberly High School. Knob Noster is
accepting applications until Friday.
Kevin Emerick
has resigned as the head Womens' coach at Jefferson College, in Hillsboro,
leaving the Vikings searching for a basketball coach. Emerick has left coaching
to pursue an opportunity in private business.


Mike McAteer
has
resigned as the head boys' basketball coach at Bishop DuBourg (St. Louis) High
School following a district championship season with the Cavaliers. McAteer has
spent a very successful tenure leading DuBourg.

Daniel Johnson has been hired as the new head coach at
Hillsboro High School. Johnson vacates his post as the head coach at
North County the past three seasons.

Here they are... The Coaching Rumor Mill is constantly being updated.
Traditionally we've always begun the day after the state finals and run
through the month of September. However, many schools are beginning the hiring
process sooner and sooner. Because of this we will open it up as soon as that
specific team is eliminated from the tourney or if retirements etc are
officially announced. Out of respect for all coaches, we have listed only
positions that have been officially opened, as well as any rumored front
runners. Please include specific information regarding teaching areas/openings
that might accompany each job if known...

Bishop DuBourg (St. Louis):





Mike McAteer




has resigned as the head boys' basketball coach at Bishop DuBourg (St. Louis)
High School following a district championship season with the Cavaliers. McAteer
has spent a very successful tenure leading DuBourg.



Boonville:



Scott Floyd has been named as new coach at Boonville HS





Floyd coached at Westran last four seasons and compiled a record
of 54-49. Floyd previously coached nine seasons at
Mexico with
a record of 173-76 from 95-96 to 03-04 and coached two seasons
at North Callaway (93-94 and 94-95) with a 30-22 record.




Bunker:



Cainesville: Robbie Bates will move from Potosi where he
served as an assistant to the top post in Cainsville.



Cooter: Former Bell City head coach Brian Brandtner
has accepted the top position at Cooter.



Crocker: With the departure of Scott Spooner to Reeds
Spring(girls program), assistant head coach Lee Richardson
takes over the Lions basketball program.



Ellington: Jerry Berry



Fair Grove: Scott Norris

Fredericktown: Eric Thompson



Fulton: After 32 years in the district, head basketball (and
head baseball coach) Darrell Davis has announced his retirement
at the end of the school year. Davis has directed the basketball program
for 21 years and has served as athletic director for the past 15.



Grandview (Hillsboro): Jim Keeling will remain in the Eagles top position.



Hazelwood West: Cary Lewis has accepted the Hazelwood West boys basketball
position after serving as an assistant at Hazelwood Central.






Hickman (Columbia): After just one season John
Burns
has resigned and he will return to Arizona.






Hillsboro: Daniel Johnson has been hired as
the new head coach at Hillsboro High School. Johnson vacates his post as
the head coach at North County the past three seasons.

After four successful seasons leading the Hawks,
Chris O'Connell who built a 75-33 mark has decided to move to Webster
University where he will assist the Gorlocks.



Houston: A teaching position has yet to be connected
with this coaching opportunity. Interested applicants need to contact Mr. Ben

Humansville: Interested applicants should send a letter of

Liberty North: Chris McCabe has been hired as the
first head basketball coach at Liberty North High School





McDonald County: Ryan Stokes who served as
head coach for the past three seasons at Miller has been named to the top
position with the Mustangs.

Head coach Mike Austin resigned following the
season.

as the head coach at North County the past three seasons.



Northeast (Kansas City):



Northeast Nodaway: Those interested in applying may contact

Oak Grove:



Ty Hames
was hired at the most recent Oak Grove board meeting. Hames leaves after
a successful run at Moberly including the first conference title in 33 years.




O'Hara: He retired at Raytown after an outstanding run.
He led Northeast for one season, now Hall of Fame head coach Mark
Scanlon
will lead the O'Hara Celtics.



Parkway West:




At Parkway West John Wright will take over the Longhorn
basketball program. Wright has been an assistant with the Longhorns for
the past 14 seasons.

Following a 22-season run as head coach at
Parkway West head coach Bill Sodemann has resigned. This
season Sodemann guided the Longhorns back to the quarterfinal round, completing
the season with a 21-7 mark. Overall he guided his Longhorns to a 389-221
record.



Sodemann guided the Longhorns to the Class 4A state title in 1991.

Purdy:

Puxico: Tim Smith



Schuyler County:



Seckman: Oakville graduate and former assistant coach
Tim Zambo has been named the new head coach at Seckman High
School replacing Steve Cookson who resigned earlier this spring.



Scott City: Mark Dannenmueller



South Shelby: Former Mexico and most recently
Hallsville assistant Phillip Dunkle has accepted the top boys'
basketball post at South Shelby High School. A Paris High School graduate,
Dunkle knows the area well.



Staley: Peter Gaskill has stepped down from his head
coaching position at Staley High School.



St. Charles West:




Long time St. Charles West assistant coach Jeremy Jackson
has been tapped to replace Terry Hollander.






Following a Hall of Fame career in which
he coached 30 seasons Terry Hollander has resigned from his
coaching position. Hollander who resigned from teaching three years ago,
continued coaching and finished with a 549-279 record guiding the Warriors to
the Class 4A state championship in 1995. Hollander will join Brad
Soderberg on the Lindenwood University staff. Lindenwood is currently an
NAIA program, but will soon be moving to NCAA Division II.

St. Charles West will interview coaches for the vacant position.



St. Clair: Greg Dunnigan has moved from Washington to lead
the Bulldog basketball program and serve as they athletic director.



St. Elizabeth:



Stover: Jason Ollison leaves his position at St. Elizabeth
to take the top Stover boys basketball job.



Twin Rivers: Dustin Benson





Vienna:


Shane Ringen has been named as the new Vienna Eagle head
basketball coach. After toiling in the lower levels at Mexico High
School in recent seasons Ringen will move to the Gasconade Valley Conference.







Washington:




While long time Parkway West head coach Bill Sodemann is retiring from his
post with the Longhorns his son Chip Sodemann who has assisted
him the past two seasons will take the reigns of the Washington Blue Jay
basketball program. The younger Sodemann played at Truman State.






Head coach Greg Dunnigan has resigned and
will take the head boys' basketball and athletic director positions at St. Clair
High School.

Helias: Doug Light will make the move from his assistant
position to the head position of the girls' basketball program at Helias High
School. Light has previously served as the head coach at Jefferson City,
Borgia, and Union.



Liberty North: First year program seeking head coach



Kirkwood:



Brad Sutterer,
who has served as assistant athletic director at Kirkwood High School for the
past two seasons will take on a new role of head girls' basketball coach.




Ron Sanford has resigned following a four
year stint as head coach at Kirkwood. This season Sanford guided the
Pioneers to the Suburban West Conference co-Championship and a 20-6 record.



Miller:



North County: Laura Elam hired from within the district.



Oak Grove: Mike Cox leaves Winnetonka and will take over the
Oak Grove program.



Oakville:



Park Hill: Aaron Nesser has resigned at Oak
Grove and will take the girls basketball position at Park Hill.

Reeds Spring: Scott Spooner leaves his
position in the boys program at Crocker to take the top position with the Lady
Wolves.

Timberland: Timberland High School in
the Wentzville School District is accepting applications for the position of
Head Girls Basketball Coach. Timberland is a Class
5 school that will participate in the GAC South conference beginning next
season. Wentzville is located 35 minutes west of St. Louis on Hwy 70.
