Lebanon, Camdenton, Waynesville, Rolla

I wonder if there’s any chance for the old Ozark Mountain Conference to merge into this new southwest Missouri super conference?!?!?

FYI from Camdenton from the radio halftime show. The 4 schools (Camdenton, Lebanon, Rolla, Waynesville) have 2 offers on the table - one from COC for all 4 and another from the CMAC for all 4. COC deadline on Monday, CMAC on Tuesday. But those can change.

Camdenton's big concern with COC is travel distances to the Joplin area along with the size and growth of Nixa, Joplin, etc.

We will see which direction things go.

Why does the COC want ANY of those teams in the conference??? No good reason I can see
I agree with you. If I was an administrator at one of the Joplin area schools, I would vote against this. Why would any of the western schools want to travel to Rolla or Waynesville? Like someone said earlier, that was a big part of Joplin leaving the OC. Let those 4 go up north and let Parkview and Central figure out their own issues. The COC as it currently is for next year (no CJ or Branson, with Kickapoo and Glendale) is a very strong conference. If these other 6 schools are added, it will only weaken the COC's brand.

I don’t know but I don’t like it AT ALL. They are too far away and don’t add anything we don’t already have except schools more than 2 hours away. I was glad to get poo and Glendale but no thanks on the rest of the OC. Just ask anyone from Joplin how much fun it was conferencing with those schools.

I think it waters down the COC. It kind of makes it not special to be in the COC.

It definitely does. Lebanon and Camdenton are good football opponents but they are just too dang far away. The others bring literally nothing to the table.

I thought the COC was set up very well with the addition of Glendale and Kickapoo, but now it’s almost gone silly with this super-conference stuff that never seems to work in the long run. It almost seems like the OMC not taking Parkview is what triggered this continuation. If this super-conference forms, there may go a chunk of the regional nonconference foes for the OMC members.

Or hell… with the addition of the far east, I-44 schools, might was well pull a Big 10 and add Jackson or someone else that’s as far away as we can.

The COC is potentially taking the leftovers that OMC denied and watered down a good thing in the process. Very disappointing.

Heck apparently Lebanon, Waynesville, Rolla and Camdenton applied to the OMC and were denied. However that was due to school sizes and travel.

Half truth on the radio. Their biggest concern is the fact that the current COC ADs ALONG WITH Will Christian (Leb AD) will determine the football schedule. Will no doubt using his Nixa connections to get his say. Total BS move. Sort em out by size for varsity football. Play separately for 9th and JV based on geography. But to have some BS schedule put together by the current COC ADs and only Will Christian is total garbage.

These schools will play a lot in non football sports anyway.
I hope they don’t. I’d like to see a conference provision to actually not schedule them. I mean, they bailed because they couldn’t compete. Why schedule them?

Or…and here’s a crazy thought for you western schools…if the western schools don’t like it and vote it down, they can go find their own conf. The eastern schools have plenty of options. The western schools basically have one.

No, that was due to Branson not wanting to compete with schools their own size.

What current coc schools actually want any of these 4 schools in the conference??

I love that you western folks think Joplin, Carthage, Webb, and Neosho add any more or less to the conf than Rolla, Waynesville, Camdenton, and Lebanon would. It’s comical the inflated self value that exists out there.

Funny how the fact Branson had 5 schools 100 miles away or more in their conference has nothing to do with it. Only they didn't want to compete with schools their size.

In the last 10 years compare how many state championship games in football that Carthage, Joplin, Neosho and Webb have competed in ,,,,,,,,,,,vs how many Camdenton, Waynesville, Rolla, Lebanon have played in!!!!

Maybe it’s because there’s literally a handful or more right up the road pretty close to their size. But, ya know, they just can’t compete with them.

Lol. Do you still wear your 1985 state title ring? Or pull your old jersey on every Friday night before the “big game”? It’s not all just about football. And it’s not all just about the past. Moving forward, Joplin isn’t very good. Neosho will still be bad. Carthage no longer has Luke Gall and they’ll be extremely average for the foreseeable future. And Webb, well ya know, lost to that very average Carthage team. That’s the present and the future. But keep wearing that letterman’s jacket and spit shining that ring man.
