Lebanon, Camdenton, Waynesville, Rolla

There is life outside of football outside of the Joplin metro. That’s all.

Webb…I don’t want to travel to Nixa. It’s “too far”.

Rest of COC….(crickets)

Neosho…Yeah, that’s way too far.

Rest of COC…What about that mutual agreement thing?

West COC…Hey, Monnet, Seneca, East Newton, Cassville, Mac Co, and Podunk KS HS have to have games too!!!

It seems like the CMAC is better for travel.
Probably when Camdenton originally joined the Ozark Conference, going to Springfield was easier as a trip north meant a drive through the Osage Beach strip. Now that 54 bypasses the strip, going to Jeff and Columbia is a lot easier for the Lakers.

It's not. Springfield is an easier drive than Columbia

What is your deal with Webb? When has Webb complained about traveling to Nixa? Since the 18-19 season, Nixa has lost 6 games (tournaments included) to COC teams in boys basketball and half of those are to Webb and Joplin. Nixa and Kickapoo are head and shoulders above everyone in the area, not just the West schools.

I'll retract. Info I'm getting this morning was that it had to be mutually agreed upon by the schools to NOT play and it only factors into the Joplin area schools and the "far east" schools. Seems kind of silly, simply because...1) Lebanon is not even 2 hours from the Joplin area schools. 2) It's every other year. If you're a west school, you only travel to one of the two each year. It's not rocket-science. Seems a bit silly to put that clause in, but whatever. This makes much more sense to me
While I don’t disagree it’s probably an unnecessary clause, to suggest Lebanon is not 2 hours from Joplin is a just disingenuous. It’s 1 hr 55 min via google maps. It will be over 2 hours on a bus, especially if they have to hit late afternoon Springfield traffic.

🤣

I’m just hoping they can get a date worked out with Helias or Mountain Home
Looks like the schedule has changed again.. Valley View is gone..

9/6 Parkview 7:00 pm
9/13 at Hillcrest 7:00 pm
10/11 at Poplar Bluff 7:00 pm
10/18 at Marshfield 7:00 pm

So the only non cons are Parkview and Poplar Bluff.

Maybe WP should get their conference dates settled before they start scheduling non cons.

9/13 against Hillcrest is a conference game and that was the date that they were listing Valley View for.
Not going to make many friends if you’re scheduling games before you even know if you’ll be available.

Helias had already filled the schedule for the next two years. Now with the addition of Camdenton looks like they are going to have to drop one of their Non Conference games. Not sure if it will be Hannibal, St. Marys, or Lift for Life.

A whole lot of truth to that. Navigating 54 east out of town on a Friday afternoon in the early fall 20+ years ago...Not fun.

I don't really think that's true any longer. Might be 10 mins or so further to the Columbia schools...maybe. But the trips are very similar. Positive note, you don't have to go through Leb any longer.

Now I'm being obtuse? You get the point though. It's two schools, which means once a year for each. But agreed, the clause is just not needed.

Look on bright side:

You could ride 10 hours tomorrow with Pierce City.

I have no deal. Their fans are fairly easy to rile up in the fall simply because their hopes and dreams are tied to the successes of teenagers on a football field. Outside of that, nothing really...Since you brought it up, what's Webb's conference record since 18-19?

The point of my post was that nobody on the east side other than Kickapoo is doing anything with Nixa over the last few years anyway. Joplin got them twice and if not for a really bad block call, Webb would have got them twice. I am not saying that Webb or any of the west schools are superior to Nixa basketball but the east side isn't either. To answer your question, I believe they are 19-17 if I counted correctly on MSHSAA.

Fair enough. My point was, if given the choice, those west schools weren't going to come east and play basketball. But it seems as they don't really have a choice, so it's all moot.

Hey CJ even beat Nixa in 2018. Let's not add up the point totals for all of the games though.

Back in 2007, the west schools were given a choice. They did say yes to leaving the SWC and accepting the COC's invite. That did mean for basketball as well. As for nonconference, it's common sense to play closer towns and regional rivals if possible. I just wish the COC would allow one nonconference game in football, as Webb vs Pittsburg KS is more entertaining to the masses here than Webb vs Waynesville. And for Waynesville, perhaps they could be one of the opponents for independent Rolla.

I think the biggest concern was/is adding so many more trips east when the conference could have stayed put at 8 teams when Branson/CJ left or only added one additional trip east with Kickapoo and Glendale coming in. Now there is Parkview, Central, Lebanon, Waynesville, Kickapoo, and Glendale on top of the existing east teams. But none of this matters because everyone has to play who is on their schedule and there should be some exciting new rivalries and matchups that come from all the movement.

I know they are about the same. But the new highway to Lebanon combined with I-44 so much nicer and easier than the 54 to 63 shot. Maybe its my bias against Columbia, hate going up there expect for a few select things. But the big savings for Camdenton is no trips to Joplin metro and West Plains anymore.
