Impact of the class 1 cap

Have you been to my sister's neighborhood to which I am referring (west side of 33 coming into town from the south)? Little kids and young families all over the place. Getting ready to head home from work will do the Roosterville "country" drive totally shocking all the huge home construction ongoing in that area! Where are people getting all this money?
Lots of people working remote who get outside of KC based salaries. I left my job with an Overland Park based company to work for a company on the coast, 40K raise without batting an eye.

A little randomness to class sizes also. Just three grades. The smaller the school, the bigger the possible fluctuation. Kearney trended down 5.78% down, 2.24% down, and then 0.36% increase. Even with a big spike, will not be in C5 under the new system. Tonka shot up from 872 to 952 in one year. Do that, and C5 time.

Didn't NKC Schoosl redistrict? Thinking there is probably a little bit of that taking place to fluctuate the numbers.

NKC 1232. 1198, 1225, and 1211 (2022)
TONKA 883, 862, 872, 952 (2022)
Oak Park 1201, 1225, 1232, 1327 (2022)
Staley 1279, 1303, 1348, 1396 (2022)

They have all gotten bigger - except NKC

Good to see people waking up and pulling kids from private to public schools

Where are people getting all this money?
Ha I said the same thing the other day. There are homes going up literally everywhere around here. A friend of mine did an add-on/remodel at his home that probably cost $150,000 and another family I know bought a new home that was probably double the cost of their previous one and then they added an in-ground pool and bought a new SUV around the same time. Another friend bought a new house, probably at least a $650,000 house which is a lot for here. Another friend built a home that easily pushed 7 figures. I have never known so many people building or upgrading all at the same time. And I don't get it with all the inflation. I don't believe any of those people I mentioned took new jobs. It's just like they suddenly had a huge pile of money dumped in their lap. Where do I sign up?!

Yes, waking up to a Biden economy with rampant inflation has woken them up to the fact they can't pay for it anymore.
They buying big houses instead of paying for an inferior private school education.

Pebble really hurting.

Nice work

Other than the exodus from privates these stats are all over the demographic map. Notice Liberty North continuing to increase it shows as the highest per capita income part of Platte-Clay county now.

Let me know I could use some of that moolah................

Lots of people working remote who get outside of KC based salaries. I left my job with an Overland Park based company to work for a company on the coast, 40K raise without batting an eye.
Thanks! This connects to the fact I don't deal with anything resembling rush hour driving to work especially. Heck the local radio stations barely do morning traffic reports anymore! Congrats BTW!

Interesting... as their enrollment goes down, their talent level goes up ! Hmmmm I wonder how that happens ?
The NKC resurgence has been interesting the last 6 or so years.

One of the more creative ways of recruiting I heard from a coach outside that district. Told me that they have this IB program and it was only offered at that high school, so anyone in the district could transfer there intra-district and then just drop out of that program for whatever reason and they could stay and not be moved back to Tonka ,Oak Park or Staley. And that's how you got the NKC Girls Basketball State Champions a couple years ago.

After thinking about it i dislike the 36 In C1 and 42 in C6. we could see some crazy road trips in districts in Class 1. i like going 7 Classes and make it divided into 44, it be better that what mshsaa just changed.

Here my second issue, Why do they based enrollment off both genders overall? Should they based it off the gender the sports they play?

Do u think kearney has 832 males, Heck no, they probably have around 415-460 Males in school.

St Mary's is a All Male School, They're enrollment is 374, Festus a school 20 something miles away that has around the same amount of males but in 2 Classes above!!!

Slater voted 8-man a Month a go, They're enrollment is 102, let's say both genders are 51 and 51 they're, Slater had a total of 29 Players on the team 19 were 9-11 grade, if you take away 19 you have about 32 males left, take out 3-5 kids that has disabilities and if they have band 5-7 males that would probably leave around 20 males that ain't playing football!!!

They finished season with 14 or 15.

7 classes divided equally would have similar results for Class 1 and 6. The major benefit is the parity of enrollment across the Classes.

After thinking about it i dislike the 36 In C1 and 42 in C6. we could see some crazy road trips in districts in Class 1. i like going 7 Classes and make it divided into 44, it be better that what mshsaa just changed.

There are crazy road trips already. It is just interesting how 32 in class six since we split into 6 classes. We point to other states and how they do it, some of them have less than 32 in a class. Arkansas for example 16 in class 7.

I do believe that there is a "south of the river component" as well...

2019 a very memorable team and title game indeed!

I'm not sure why this had to be complicated.

Maybe the bigger schools were scared to 'move up.

Divide total teams by 6.
Finished

That'll be $8500 for my consultant fee.

St. Mary's enrollment was 187. Because they are a single sex school, their enrollment is doubled per MSHSAA guidelines to place in the proper class.

I am from Missouri. When they are released, show me.

They won’t match but should be close. DECE numbers are reported twice a year. I believe September/October then again January/February.

Mshsaa is due in the spring, so based of kids moving out/in and drop outs the numbers will be off some.

Come on, what about the non binary non gendered? That would throw that all off. Especially as we go forward. More girls deciding they aren’t, and more guys regretting being born with a penis.

More bad loans a la 2008? Another housing market crash coming soon?

NKC 1232. 1198, 1225, and 1211 (2022)
TONKA 883, 862, 872, 952 (2022)
Oak Park 1201, 1225, 1232, 1327 (2022)
Staley 1279, 1303, 1348, 1396 (2022)

They have all gotten bigger - except NKC

I'm not sure how Oak Park grows at all. It's landlocked by the other schools, so there are no places to build new neighborhoods.

NKC has all the high rises going up. A smart worldly coach could have a field day--locate affordable housing and get them up in there. See The Bud Lathrop Method. Great book about city-wide recruiting for public schools.

They do go to the junior high schools to give information about the IB program. They do use it as a recruiting tool...for the IB program, as they should. But they also generally have a coach or two in tow when they do these informational meetings. To help hand stuff out, of course.
