He was the coach at Joplin. I didn't even know he had quit. Joplin pretty much graduated everyone and they were average at best to begin with.
Probably true. Joplin loses a lot of good players to the private schools in Joplin. He will have better players at Willard but Willard lost their best player to graduation.
Floyd was only at Joplin for two seasons after he came over from Rolla. His daughter, who played for him, just graduated. So this move is probably a step up the ladder though Willard is a bit down right now as well. But it should be a better job than Joplin in the long run.

Unless I’ve missed something, I haven’t heard any updates as to WP naming a new head coach, but I’ve also been pretty busy this summer so……. Any word?
I had a feeling that would happen, but I wasn’t sure. They lost Judd, who was the best ever, or maybe at least the best prospect to come out of the program since Barr in the late 90s, but with everyone else back this year, the cupboard is definitely not bare.
i wonder if he is going to retire from teaching and just coach or still stay with the school full time
I’m hearing rumblings that he may be back full time teaching and coaching, but that’s not 100%.
that’s a very good thing for the program though.
i think he’s closing in on 600 wins. I could be wrong though.
If my calculations are correct, he’s somewhere between 570-575 wins. So with all they’ve got coming back, 600 could be within reach this coming season.
I’m not saying that had anything to do with his decision, he’s not that kind of guy at all, just think it’s pretty cool that he’s closing in on 600 wins and they’ve all been with the same school.
