It would be a great hire for Liberty, but there is no doubt in my mind his style would irritate some folks who have grown accustomed to the spread and spread concepts. But this year they were more of a run based team than ever.
TW Norman.yep
went to the final 4 also in 2002
what was the big linebacker that went to illinois name
that kid was to much for class 2 back then
I know when they had the porter kid back around 2010 he ended up with back to back 1400ish yard seasons(I think) if not more but they still threw the ball more I think. It would be a great hire for Liberty, but there is no doubt in my mind his style would irritate some folks who have grown accustomed to the spread and spread concepts. Man...That girl could play.yep ole armstrong
daughter played at iowa
Don't sell short he's probably bringing a starting QB/B-Back/ILB with him. Who, at that level, would be an absolute animal.I think he would be a great hire. I just think it would be a toss up as to whether or not they would.
Especially when you’re going back to coach in your home town, a lot of this comes down to does he have any one on the school board who has a reason not to like him.
Small town BS you know.
I think he would far and away be the most qualified on all levels, alum, college player, 17 years of head coaching experience which for the majority of his career was in very competitive medium to large school conferences and a state title under his belt.
It’s a no brainer if he’s interested. But would they give him time to implement his system.
It would be a big change.
Did he play in any games at Illinois?TW Norman.
I believe he was slated to start in the sugar bowl against LSU as a true freshman at LB and then had a career ending injury of some kind before the game.
He was a big LB coming out of high school. Like 6’3 240. Something like that.
Just found an article online.Did he play in any games at Illinois?
Coach D has a son that would come with him?Man...That girl could play.

Excellent. Thank you.Just found an article online.
Said he chose Illinois over the likes of UCLA, Notre Dame, Florida and didn’t fully specify but said other SEC, B1G, and then PAC 10 schools.
Here’s that article:

Hopefully that link works.
You’ll have to scroll down to find the paragraph about him.
Also said he had a career ending foot injury in preseason practice.
Other articles I read stated that he impressed the coaches so much in the offseason that he was going be starting on D before his injury.
I have no idea on that front.Coach D has a son that would come with him?
He'll be a senior. And he's a good one.Coach D has a son that would come with him?
That changes things. He'll be a senior. And he's a good one.
Hey just a correction he doesn't have a state title under his belt, that was won in 16 he left in 14. He does have to semi final appearances.I think he would be a great hire. I just think it would be a toss up as to whether or not they would.

Well for starters the Flex is what started the spread, you have two A-backs who are up on the line and can catch, you can spread them out (flex) so it should not be called just the Spread Offense, but the Spread Option Offense—as the name suggests, it incorporates features from the Option offense (QB reads, option pitches) with some features of the Run and Shoot offense (Shotgun formation, QB rolling out). I think they could blend both styles very nicely. If they hire him I am curious what happens with the staff. The staff have been all Acklin/Spread guys including family members of Acklin. Do they keep those guys around or is there a clean slate of guys? Lots of variables at play.
yep he was a loadTW Norman.

He had a broken foot, kept playing in high school, dont believe he actually was able to play at Illinois.yep he was a load
got to see him lift when a came home for spring break and that huge cast on his leg
I found a couple of articles indicating that he was practicing, and was listed on their roster for FR and RS-F years, but couldn't find that he got into any games. He had a broken foot, kept playing in high school, dont believe he actually was able to play at Illinois.
The Flex is primarily Under Center or Pistol do to the B back being such a huge Portion of the offense if mid-line and inside and outside veer are not a threat then why run that offense. MV was 100% gun with a two QB system. They did line up in Bunch Set's but I don't recall a double slot look on many occasions. MV used Gap Down,Zone and Reach Blocking... the Flex will use Veer principles. Blending those styles might not be as easy as you purpose. Never a fan of a gaggle offense at the Small school level. Sure their are always cross overs from one offense to the next.... speed option out of gun, Read plays, etc but what MV does and the Flexbone are pretty polar opposites.Well for starters the Flex is what started the spread, you have two A-backs who are up on the line and can catch, you can spread them out (flex) so it should not be called just the Spread Offense, but the Spread Option Offense—as the name suggests, it incorporates features from the Option offense (QB reads, option pitches) with some features of the Run and Shoot offense (Shotgun formation, QB rolling out). Greg JonesWonder who will take the job at Jackson. Folks on Semoball think Nathan Norman.
Man, that'd be a huge pay cut...right? He and wife are both teachers. Lindberghs pay scale is ridiculous. Granted, they've got their best three years. Just mulling over the financial side. Other side is, probably make a pretty penny on their house in a sale and lord knows real estate in Jackson is pennies on the dollar comparative to STL county. He's got a couple kids in HS there, right??? Been there a while. Assume he's still got family in Jackson/SEMO area. Whether he stays at Lindbergh or goes home, one of those two places has one heckuva football coach.Wonder who will take the job at Jackson. Folks on Semoball think Nathan Norman.
Being as close to home as he is for him and his wife, I figure he’ll be at WP for awhile and then probably dip into Arkansas just like Acklin, Ary, and Webber have. Or he may just stay at WP. Who knows?I heard that Jackson knocked on the door of a former Malden and Kennett coach that currently coaches in Howell County, but were turned down.
