A class 1 team not on any list of substance might be Wellsville (hometown of Fred Johnson & Billy Roundtree...;).
Most of their schedule is made up of class 2 & 3 opponents and they have some noteable W's...

They were brought up here a little while ago, but would agree they aren't getting much talk at all.

They don't have many common opponents with Glasgow or Meadville, so it's pretty hard to gauge where they are at relative to other teams. The only win that can be compared is a 12 point win over a 3-14 Westran.

Now that I'm on mshsaa, I see:

Wellsville is the 2 seed in district 10 behind chamois as well at Madison

Meadville is the 1 and Northwestern is the 2 seed in District 12 at Norborne

Winston 1 and Braymer 2 in District 13 at Orrick

Mercer is the 1 and Worth county the 2 in District 14 at Eagleville(North Harrison)

Bradleyville is the 1 with no other winning records in District 4 at Bakersfield

Montrose is the 1 seed with Drexel the 2 seed @ drexel in district 6

Hermitage is the one with Wheatland 2 at halfway in 7

Leeton will host their District (no seeding yet)

Novinger and Linn county are 1 & 2 in District 11

Advance will host their District (no seeding yet)

how do you feel about a potential matchup between them and Walnut Grove at this point?

district tourney info: https://www.mshsaa.org/Activities/DistrictTournaments.aspx?alg=5&class=1&district=5&year=2016

it appears you guys are all alone in that district in regards to decent records
It could be very interesting. When they played in early December many players had not been in the gym very long for Greenfield. Greenfield is shooting well and defending well most nights. If Greenfield can stay in man all night and not get in foul trouble they will have a shot. If the game stays in the High 50s to the 60s I like Greenfield's chances, but if it approaches 80 it could be tough for Greenfield.

District Brackets are out...anyone have some bold upset predictions? Who does everyone have in their final 8?

Let's do this:
1. Final 8... (pick beyond if you want)
2. Dark Horse: Put in someone if you have to pick an underdog who could get hot and find a way to Como, even if they aren't in your final 8
Part two for the bolder posters:
3. Overall Favorite: Pick your champion
4. Player of the Year Nomination (probably should come from your championship team or could have a Co with other championship team)

1. D1-D2 Scott County Central, D3-D4-South Iron, D13-D14-Winston, D15-D16-North Andrew, D5-D6-Walnut Grove, D7-D8-Hermitage, D9-D10-Glasgow, D11-D12-Meadville
2. Darkhorse- They are not in my final 8, but I could see them being a contender if they get out of their district with Walnut Grove. My pick here is Greenfield.
3. Winston as Champion, Walnut Grove will be in the game I think, but a bad shooting night could get them or Hermitage could get them. Tough to beat a team 3 times in one season.

I don't get around the state to watch as much as I used to but I have Risco being a dark horse here. I believe they could beat SCC and then have already beaten Advance once at TRCC. I guess I am going to give Risco my "dark horse" pick but the team I have beating them in the tourney is Eminence. Eminence is finally getting healthy and just beat Ellington by 9 at Ellington if my memory serves me correct. The Redwings will get a tough test in districts from SI but I have a feeling the Redwings will win the district, beat Bradleyville, take down Risco, then have a battle with Winston and face Walnut Grove for the title. Tough to pick against The Grove but if Eminence has a healthy squad they will give them a game. If Thomazin is hitting then it will be hard to beat Walnut Grove but last year "Slamberry" used its length to bother WG and I think Eminence has a real shot to sneak out of the SEMO area and represent in the final 4 easily and a chance to win the title. Best time of year for basketball!

I'd bet the Risco kid that beat Advance with his NINE 3's, 4 in consecutive possessions, won't do that again soon.

A little movement in the top few possibly on the "night of love":

Mercer, North Andrew, and Winston with big wins.

Glasgow beats Meadville 57-50 in a likely prelude to a playoff meeting

Hermitage wins by 10

Advance falls to class 2 Oran by 11

Walnut Grove beats Fair Play 80-64

Anyone else want to weigh in on final 8, dark horse and POY nominees?

Walnut Grove beat Fair Play 80-64, Thomazin had 30.

Greenfield beat Miller 73-34. Play Diamond on Friday for SRVC Championship

I wasn't at the game but a friend said Meadville was down 2 at the end and had to foul.

Which coach and team will learn the most from this meeting? Hope we get to find out:)

Any Class 1 Districts start already? I know District 5 started on Saturday and all top seeds won. WG and Greenfield are in this district. WG won by 38, Greenfield won by 46.

District 16 title game is set. Jefferson will play Mound City Friday night in Mound City. Jefferson beat Nodaway-Holt by 12 and Mound City beat South Nodaway by 12. The 2 teams have met twice. Each with a win, Jefferson by 8 and Mound City by 1. Should be a good matchup Friday night.
