Class 1 Early Top 10

Those kids that are there, have been there since kindergarten. Maybe, just maybe, they have worked hard for their success. When you are winning, the haters just have to hate. I guess maybe you can argue that these kindergarteners have been recruited, but that is laughable. Don't worry, this years Valle team will not beat Lamar so maybe then people will be quiet. But I think not, they will just say those RECRUITED kids aren't as good as they thought they were. It never ends.

I don't have a kid going there, just been following Valle football for years. Most of those kids are my friends kids or grandkids. They have been there since kindergarten. If anyone knows the percentage of the starters on Valle' s team that have been there since grade school please inform us.

Valle does give ACADEMIC scholarships, not athletic. I challenge you to name one student who was given an athletic scholarship.
All that were deemed smart enough to get an acedemic scholarship (even if they were not that smart). No one can prove scholarships were given to get athletes in this plan but no one can prove they weren't either.

Does anyone know how many scholarships they give out or what the guidelines for receiving one are?

Most of the catholic school website that I've seen advertise that the majority of the students attending the school are either on a full scholarship or receive more than half of their tuition in "grants or scholarships".

If the tuition was low enough...don't all you private school boys say the education is superior?
I would say that if the tuition was low enough more kids would go to Valle. The recession in 2009 impacted class size. I think there was only about 25 kids in that freshman class.
Median family income in Ste Gen is probably about $55K give or take. So it is fair to say that some number of people do need assistance to send their kids to Valle. And that is probably on a sliding scale much like the lunch programs. Prove your need and not just your want!
I know kids who went to private high schools outside of Ste Gen and they had a different experience but were not any better educated than those of us at Valle. Ste Gen public had and still does have a more varied curriculum but Valle kids can hold their own with any school, IMHO.

I'm sure you have no bias there VALLEGRAD...

Mr

Mr. blakmilk. I was born on a day, but not yesterday. I am not here to bash on Valle. Nothing but good things to say about the sports programs. DO NOT give me that crap that they do not give scholarships for sports. They clearly give scholarships! That is the only thing I have said about attending a private school. If you do attend a private school, YOU SHOULD HAVE TO PAY THE TUITION TO ATTEND! Not get a scholarship. I believe if that was the case, there would be less kids attending private schools. As for the Valle scholarship thing... Call it what you like, but here it is:
Valle Catholic School is a faith based learning community admitting students of any gender, race, color, or national and ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. Valle Catholic School will not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, color, national origin, or ethnic origin in admission policy, SCHOLARSHIP and loan programs, and athletic and other school administered programs. (4101)
That money that Valle or any private school gives as scholarship or aid to people who need help to send their kids there, does NOT come from ANY PUBLIC FUNDS. So why does that anger you so? As a reminder, people who send their kids to a private high school still pay all the taxes associated with the pubic schools. And then to add insult kids from private schools are not eligible for the A PLUS program for community colleges after graduation!

If you read that sentence where you chose to highlight the word scholarship, you will see that it says that Valle does NOT discriminate on giving scholarships to anyone needing help.

Kids from small private schools succeed in life and college at a higher rate than public school kids. That might be because of a better education but usually it just means kids motivated to succeed attend private schools at a much higher percentage than public schools.

Again, public education is free. If you can not afford a private school education then do not go to a private school. It is your choice to go there. Should be your choice to pay for it. Go to the public school if you want the A plus program. AGAIN! YOU can say what you want to about not giving athletic scholarships. IT HAPPENS at private schools. Just like recruiting happens in the public school.

You support choice for everybody except for Catholics, Lutherans and other religious organizations choosing to offer aid to members of their faith.
I feel as you do IF a non Catholic or someone from out of Ste. Gen county wants to go to Valle, they should foot the bill and not the members of the parish.
ps....I know some good anger management organizations here in St. Louis.

The problem is aid is given to students who DO NOT belong to that faith of the school they attend! SOOOOO, how can scholarships be given when the church is suppose to pay the tuition? No anger management needed at all. I am way too old and been in the coaching business too long to be angered. Again, I am not mad, but just stating the case that private school students should pay the cost of tuition no matter the case.
PS: People outside of the county? I hope they are within 25 mile radius of the school board!

Lets not get carried away here.

Thanks Kenny, I needed that lmao

I am not familiar with the large religious schools and what they do. I have remained close to Valle and can only speak of not knowing of any non Catholics attending there with or without aid.

Your use of caps is disturbing. What do you mean by this sentence== SOOOOO, how can scholarships be given when the church is suppose to pay the tuition?

You said... "You support choice for everybody except for Catholics, Lutherans and other religious organizations choosing to offer aid to members of their faith". There are many private schools that offer aid to students that are not of their faith. I just ask how can scholarships be given if they are not a member of their school's faith? As for what you said. Simple question.

My kids attend a public school and play on the football team. We have played Valle 3 times and have had some success. My kids love to play Valle. Part of the reason they love to play Valle is that we are the underdog. Winning a championship without Valle in the mix just wouldn't be the same. I couldn't care less if Valle gives scholarships or not; just adds to the underdog role of our kids.

You've played Valle 3 times.

Was the combined score of those three games more or less than 170-20?

If it was even in the ballpark, then they aren't underdogs, they're sacrificial lambs...

Less than 170-20. We won 2 out of three. Not sure of the point total but I know in the three games combined we scored more than we gave up.

Well Valle hasn't lost since 2012 so your sons aren't "in high school" and played Valle 3 times.

What is your point? Did something change from then to now? I was 4-0 against the Warriors in the years I played. Did they forget to recruit or gain the advantage those years? I mean it wasn't even close those years.

Bro any team coulda been bad what 50-60 yrs ago lol:)

My kids attend public school. When I say we played Valle I was referring to our school. But you are correct that they are not all still in school. They have all been on a team that has played Valle. Win or lose they all loved the game. Hopefully the one still in school will get another shot this year.

Ok, and Ste Gen is like 50 kids from being a Class 4 school, you're SUPPOSED to beat Class 1 schools.

Sikeston beats Charleston every year, Poplar Bluff beats Dexter every year, Perryville doesn't really play St. Vincent all that often, but they'll beat them later this year.

Bigger schools beat smaller schools all the time, nothing to beat your chest about.

Last year they beat their conference by a combined 417-41 or an average score of 70-7.

What is Crystal City or Valle getting out of a 78-7 massacre or Herculaneum taking a 78-8 loss? At what point is that not worth it anymore to anyone involved?

If I coach at a public school ...or if I'm a booster at a public school...and I pay or help pay out of district tuition for a student to attend my school..MSHSAA would HAMMER that school. That alone is a huge difference. A person can go to private school at no cost if that school allows it.

Just for our info...how much is tuition at Valle? Seems we're skirting around that number.

We're in the same county that supposedly Valle gets all of the athletes from. Yet somehow for 10 years Ste. Genevieve completely dominated.

And lets be realistic, most years since their turn, Valle could beat over 90% of teams in class 3. Valle is normally on another level.

I just have two questions.

Why didn't they do well during a 10 year run, if they have that advantage?

What school do you coach at by the way? You've never said.

Cant say for sure but I believe it's under 5,000 a year.

And does a person really go to private school at no cost when they pay taxes into the public system?

I love it. You act like a libertarian but when it comes to athletics you're hillary painted over.

Bro any team coulda been bad what 50-60 yrs ago lol:)

50-60 yrs ago Valle was as good as any team as there is now........unfortunately. They just celebrated the '64 team(year might be wrong) that didnt give up a single touchdown.

A lot of recruiting going on back then as well.

Do you have a problem with rich boosters supporting public school programs? Isn't that an unfair advantage to those programs who have no support?
