Cardinal Ritter 0 - 7?

Yep. It was a brazen, stupid, shameful violation of the rules. Ritter deserves whatever punishment MSHSAA hands down.

None of that will earn your players college scholarships or a promotion to Head Greeter, though. Your kids are still gonna have to earn those themselves.

C'mon, man, I couldn't resist. Head Greeter?? Whoa, now that's moving on up. That justifies a move to a double wide..!!

Cover the tattoos and they might have gotten away with it. They should be covered at the high school level anyway.

I find it crazy that a couple of you have said that the Kids and parents have any responsibility in this case. You have to remember that they are kids and that they likely fear that they would be punished for saying something. Also, a lot of Parents don't know all the obscure rules of football let alone the technicalities of the MSHSAA handbook
I would be willing to bet the kids knew he was ineligible to play the first game.

Whether they knew or not is irrelevant because it is in no way their responsibility, just like it isnt the responsibility of the kids.

The only reason it took this long is because they were playing an out of state team. If it had been an in-state team, it probably would have been noticed much quicker.
Yeah, there is no rule that says if your teammate or coach commits a violation, and you don't report it, you get suspended. That's not how things work. Punish the offending player. Punish the coaches, AD, administrators. Forfeit games he appeared in. But getting all fired up because some 3rd party knew and didn't report it? That's not real logical. Put the pitchforks down, SWMOers.

1. Not having that kid doesn't make CR a bad team. So stupid by whomever chose to play him. Stupidity should be the violation!!!

2. MSHSAA will never punish the whole team for a kid and coach problem.

3. It is not the school that violates the bylaw that gets punished, it is the school that follows the rules that gets punished, because they never take advantage to get an upper hand! So why not break the rules?

When a kid changes their name and number...and everyone knows it...just who has responsibility?

If they made up the name for the Freshman kid and he is not an actual person, than the made up kid is ineligible as well because they would have had to forge the MSHSAA eligibility list that each school has to send to MSHSAA each year. Stl today shows Ritter running for 10 total yards in the box score week one, yet the Freshman Phenom scored on a 68 yard run.

They’ll probably all just transfer to Trinty or Lutheran North tomorrow.
yes, this is what I am talking about. Cardinal Ritter will just fire Gregory. And then he will get hired somewhere else (another private or charter) and take all these kids with him and he is right back in business. CR needs to be banned from post-season play at least this year and Gregory needs to be done forever. And I have absolutely no dog in the fight. Inexcusable.

I think the MSHSAA By-laws are pretty clear:
1. Participate under an assumed name=immediately ineligible for up to 365 days.
2. Egregious or intentional violation of the by-laws or the rules/regulations of the sport by a coach may cause the board of directors to withhold his approval as head coach which approval is required under the by-laws.
3. The institution can be suspended from membership for up to one year.
