Cardinal Ritter 0 - 7?

The HC/AD are the primary culprits in this case, but it goes beyond them, to the principal & superintendent - every admin in that school knew the ruse the HC pulled off, and "okayed" the action (by not taking action.) The school should be banned from post-season, and the coach should receive at lest a 1 year suspension from MSHSAA.

Arm sleeve anyone?

Agreed they should be done for the yr, but can see the argument coming of "but the kids on the team shouldn't be punished because of the actions of the coach"

Football is a team game. The old saying... take one for the team goes here. Blatant disregard to the rules and by-laws of MSHSAA. Should be done for the year immediately.

Perhaps you conservatives could just send a Woody Hayes type over and just punch the kids in the face.

I remember people here being pretty hard on the Dora kids for the whole free throw switcheroo thing last winter, and this, if it's true as depicted, while similar, is infinitely worse.

I don't know the coach, but it's the same guy who went to great lengths to compare his QB to another STL QB on social media, which I have never seen in my life. That seemed strange at the time.

It also seems as though whoever reports the stats to the STL reported that the kid played in Game 1 as he is listed in the defensive stats. That is something the original story probably should have mentioned.

Words mean nothing to liberals. They say whatever will help advance their cause at the moment, switch talking points in a heartbeat, and then act indignant if anyone uses the exact same argument they were using five minutes ago.

Totally agree, but still see that argument coming..."You can't punish the whole for the actions of a few". Time will tell.

*Jealous they have opportunities you’ll never have
*Oppose their success because they don’t look like you

(C’mon, man, you knew those two)

Ritter broke the rules. Using an ineligible player isn’t even questionable. Someone reported it to MSHSAA, and the school/team should be penalized. The AD and every coach needs to get smacked, and getting shit canned shouldn’t be out of the question. No post-season for Ritter this year, minimum.

Transferring to another school ISN’T against the rules. Especially, when you wait until the kid is cleared by MSHSAA until you play him. Even if it means you lose a game. Oddly, Ritter wasn’t one of the schools that gave you a hate-chubby, only Trinity and LN.

No tears wept over here, and I doubt any of the coaches on their side of the bracket are relieved. They still have to get past Lutheran North.

To those who shall remain nameless, here we are crying with laughter at all your defensive comments and accusations about all of us Walmart employee, trailer trash class 2 schools in SW Mo who just follow the rules.....

Yep. It was a brazen, stupid, shameful violation of the rules. Ritter deserves whatever punishment MSHSAA hands down.

None of that will earn your players college scholarships or a promotion to Head Greeter, though. Your kids are still gonna have to earn those themselves.

Ahhh the old number switch trick; this ploy has won many a JV game for STL area teams over the years. A player can have 6 quarters per jersey in these parts.

I find it crazy that a couple of you have said that the Kids and parents have any responsibility in this case. You have to remember that they are kids and that they likely fear that they would be punished for saying something. Also, a lot of Parents don't know all the obscure rules of football let alone the technicalities of the MSHSAA handbook

Right now, I picture the high rollers at MSHSAA in a meeting.

They’re all huddled under a large table, shivering and hugging each other, trying to figure out how to avoid making a decision that will be controversial.
Right now I picture Cardinal Ritter making a “donation” to a unmentioned scholarship fund to play in the post season.

I don’t think this is worthy of using the words obscure and technicality. Maybe the words blatant or obvious.

I feel bad for the second string rb that didn’t run his mouth or take a cheap shot to get suspended at the end of last year. Then coaches excuse this behavior by playing the kid offender anyway.

That’s whats being taught to everyone in that program. Adults will cover up and make excuses for your choices if you’re talented enough.

So the star running back changed his number for the first game and was listed under another name....You telling me that didn't flash any warning signs to the parents admin anybody?

Also is there a freshman by that name actually on the team or did he disappear after that game?

Agreed. Don’t buy the excuse for a second that most...nearly all...parents weren’t aware something crooked and illegal occurred.
The fact it took 7 weeks to come to light is, in and of itself, disheartening.
Whether they knew or not is irrelevant because it is in no way their responsibility, just like it isnt the responsibility of the kids.

The only reason it took this long is because they were playing an out of state team. If it had been an in-state team, it probably would have been noticed much quicker.

In next years MSHSAA football online rules review...

"In play pic #1, we see ineligible "Player A" is wearing the jersey number
of a nonexistent, but possibly eligible player.
Per MSHSAA (By-Law 1.1) Which states private schools can do
whatever they want...ineligible player A will have to wear an eligible
number jersey within the..uhh..*cough*..free blocking zone."

There...controversy averted..
