Best Missouri QBs Coming out of High School in history?

Some of my favs that I’ve seen over the years…
Didn’t heavily follow any of these guys in college, but saw them play at some point when they were in HS

Adam Barmann(West Platte ‘03)went on to start for the Jayhawks on and off his Soph-Senior year. Even saw a decent amount of action as a true freshman there.

Adam Hinspeter(Centralia ‘04) probably statistically the best QB Missouri Southern has had in the last 20 years. His senior year was one of the last times the Lions had a winning record.
He threw for over 9,000 yards while at Southern

Eric Cziernewski (Montgomery County) was an absolute dude at CMSU(I know it’s called UCM now)

Is it time? Is it time Webb City?

Webb is like Kearney in a lot of ways. Both dominate Class 4 and are pedestrian in class 5. At least Webb nabbed a championship in Class 5. Kearney was sucked into a black hole during their time in Class 5 until the football gods pulled them out of purgatory and landed them back into Class 4.

As for this year's Webb team, they have no deep pass defense. Just throw the ball deep and you're assured a TD.

Best Missouri QBs Coming out of High School in history?

Skylar Thompson was extremely good and so was Drew Lock. You just kind of knew they were destined for big things. Who else in MO history do you guys remember thinking were of that caliber?

I'm putting this out there to see how it ages. I don't know if Rocco Marriott of Platte County just had a really good game against Fort's defense, which isn't easy to do, but I've not been as impressed with a high school QB as I was him. I can't pick apart anything of his game. He was 16-20 and two of those misses were flat out drops, maybe the other two were as well I can't remember. Very, very accurate and powerful on his throws and he's in motion a lot. He is very elusive running the ball as well, and fast. He definitely stood out much more than last year when I saw him in the playoffs. . He is every bit of 6'3 that he is listed at. On Twitter it says he is completing over 70% and no INTs. I'm not sure how he is just a 3 star. I really don't know what more you can do as a QB to be a 5 star AND he is a junior!

Is it time? Is it time Webb City?

For what it's worth Webb City played schools like Lebanon, Camdenton and KC Central back in the SWC days because they needed opponents. Travel (for football) was just as bad back then as now. But there are factors that could possibly make a re-tread of the old SWC worth considering. If the likes of Nevada and McDonald Co can compete I could see adding them, along with CJ, to Webb Carthage Joplin and Neosho. That's a decent SW Conference with room to schedule up or down depending on each schools preference.

The other thing is Jr High sports in this new conf are terrible. Not because of Lebanon and waynesville but because of all the SPS middle schools. Was talking to a parent the other day who said they've been playing these SPS middle schools in volleyball, making all these trips to Springfield and these schools don't even know how to play. So far in 3 games haven't seen even one successful overhand serve from any of those schools. The final scores are like 25-3, 25-4, etc with SPS only points being serve errors. Maybe other sports are better I don't know. But I don't see that arrangement lasting long.
Where doesn't Kickapoo get their volleyball players if the Springfield middle schools suck?

Yes I agree about junior high sports. Both the Springfield and Joplin areas have enough bigger schools to end all of this travel. The Joplin schools can include Pittsburg as well.

Sad development out of Hillcrest.

After going down mid 3Q against WP last Friday, QB is done for the year.
Shoulder surgery.
3 other guys went down in the 3Q for Hillcrest and won’t be playing this week. 2 concussions and a leg injury. Including their starting RB/OLB and starting all conference TE/MLB.

That makes Friday’s game against Marshfield an interesting one for the Hornets and sad to say but with their QB(and best athlete) done for the season, finishing above .500 for the first time in over a decade becomes virtually impossible imo.

Hope Weaver is healed up and ready to go for basketball season. Nice kid, good athlete. Tough break.

History Question for old timers,,,Cardsbeatwriter???

I thought there was a booked published some time back that had every score of every game all-time in it with Webb City football history not to mention the website which I completely forgot about until this question was brought forth ... what happened to the Webb City football history website?
I think the guy who did it moved away and stopped paying whatever monthly fee is required to keep the site.

Tri-County Week 4

As ive said, I am now located in the middle of the state so following the Tri-county and CMAC conferences just make the most sense for me and I wanted to get your thoughts.

Blair Oaks (2-1) at California (1-2) - BO by as many as they want.....50 in the first quarter?

Boonville (3-0) vs Southern Boone (3-0) - The real question here is why does Boone County and Southern Boone both end with an E but Boonville doesn't have an E???

Eldon (3-0) at Osage (2-1) - This one probably won't be close. The records are a little deceiving if you look at the schedules.

Hallsville (0-3) at Macon (0-3) Out of Conference - Both played Palmyra, Hallsville was competitive and Macon was not. Give me Hallsville

Hannibal (1-2) at Fulton (0-3) Fulton will be in conference next year - Oof sorry Fulton...
Your conclusions are reasonable assumptions.
To answer your Boonville question, a local television commentator and historian wrote that the spelling of Boonville derives from the commercial salt licks founded across the Missouri river in Howard county by two of Daniel Boone's sons which were known as and sometimes spelled "Boon's lick". When the city of Boonville was founded, the spelling on the licks was used for the city across the river. Now you ask why wasn't it "Boone's lick". I don't know. An accident of history I suppose. There were a lot of those occurring in a non-educated populace back then as they relied on phonetic spelling and of course the E is silent.
