when is media all-state announced?

I can't speak for the modern day Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association (I do wish I were still a member) ... between 1997-2004 the association met the Sunday morning after the state football championships concluded and selected the all-state teams. Usually was released a week later as long as representatives from each part of the state were present. I seem to recall a year, maybe two were the preps beat guy from Cape Girardeau who had all of the nominees for Southeast Missouri missed the meeting and the chairman made sure to get with him later to make sure that part of the state was included.

Traditionally KC Star had its preps guy (Derek Samson at that time, now managing editor with Rivals.com), same with the St. Louis Post Dispatch, Tom Rackers from Jeff City Tribune was the chairman, Russ "Big Game" Baer from the Columbia Tribune, Joe Kress and Kyle Neddenreip from the Springfield News-Leader, Anvil and I from the Joplin Globe and sometimes Kirksville and Lebanon would have a guy there. I can't recall the prep guy at Cape Girardeau either.

But the goal was usually to have sent out statewide the Tuesday the weekend after the state championships concluded -- in other words today -- in order for it to be printed in the Wednesday morning editions. This could have changed over the years.

Should HS basketball games be played on Sunday morning?

Wake me up when parents skip the travel team tournaments which ALL PLAY ON SUNDAY MORNING.

If there’s a consolation trophy to be won by the Super Select in the 6U bronze bracket of the USSSSSA World Series played in a cornfield in Soda Springs, Idaho, parents can’t write the $checks fast enough.

Spare me.
Post of the year!!!!!!!

Class 3 fact checkers needed

how is that different from a class 1 school with a student population in district of under 200 playing a school with a student 'population' triple their size? This has been happening for 40 years in class 1.

Apples to oranges. In mine one school has 350 boys/girls vs 1500 all boys. In your scenario both schools have the same number of students. It also took more area to get to that many students for privates because every one is not required to go to said school. Did privates have an advantage back then? Absolutely. Personally I think the Championship factor has worked as intended in the smaller classes. How many privates are left in Class 1 now? After this year I would guess SV will be in 2. I would like to see no cap on Champ factor to help with the STL all star teams. Like we said before it doesn't work for the teams that are already class 6.

Class 3 fact checkers needed

Honestly I don't care about playing other privates. The only thing I would be worried about is the huge gap size in schools. 350 to a 1500 all boys school is pretty damn large spread for one class or even two. To hear just recruit better is not a real answer to the situation. Granted there is no good way around it so it if happens it happens.

Sorry wasn't here on the forums for the Valle days to comment on it.

You privates are already crying about having to play other private schools.

Oh how soon we forget the wailing and gnashing a few years back when St Mary's truckstuck Valle and the valle honks tears flowed about how unfair it was to have to play a school with such a talent pool.

Funny part is I don't think said honks understand how foolish they looked.

COC nonconference games

Webb probably wanted to schedule Eldo, Seneca, and Sarcoxie.
Webb saw enough of Seneca at the jamboree:)
That doesn't mean they would HAVE to schedule up. Hell, they could even schedule some of the COC east teams that they are not scheduled to play. Looking at it, Webb probably had the hardest COC schedule last year. I really think not allowing out of conference games hurts the weaker teams the most. Think about trying to build a good program in Willard, Ozark, or Waynesville. Hard to get kids out when you go 2-8. If they had the ability to schedule a couple winnable games then 4-6 seems a lot better. It hurts no one and helps a most.
why even have a conference then ???
