Mt. Vernon 48 East Newton 6
I hope so. Are we going to see a two or three way tie for second place in the Big 8?Mt. Vernon starting to play better. First few games were rough. Them and Lamar next week should be a good game.

No sir those of us with real town pride don't want to be like Webb, I hate the recruiting they did understanding their are some legit move ins but there was also a lot of recruiting and I prefer to watch local talent earn the wins not have it recruited in. But to each theor own you can want what you want that's what makes America great
Ok here comes the blatant honesty that hurts feelings sometimes. ( I know it won't yours)THoughts on Ruskin?
Ok fair enough. I am sure if your team/town was winning at the Webb level you would be criticizing their "recruiting".No sir those of us with real town pride don't want to be like Webb, I hate the recruiting they did understanding their are some legit move ins but there was also a lot of recruiting and I prefer to watch local talent earn the wins not have it recruited in. I get why others are giddy over watching them struggle, but I have nothing but respect for the run they have had. Every school that hates them wishes their school was like them. It is no doubt going to be an interesting story to follow.
I noticed the QB is a soph. He unloaded a pass that covered 60 yards in the air. A talent for sure! Three Jrs on the dominant Oline. Probably take the COC again next year.Yeah I’ll admit it nixa deserves this hype this year.
I talked to a guy from nixa at half, he said most of what makes this team so brutal will be back next year but he’s not sure they will be anywhere close to this level after that.
I keep telling spoiled "bandwagon" Chiefs fans here essentially the same thing. Yeah different level altogether but they are NOT going to win the SB every darned year! This is a nice post . Just my opinion, but history tells us dynasties run their course and come to an end. Back in the day, I remember it being Jeff City. Where have they been? Camdenton not as dominant as they once were. Joplin/Parkwood had a decent run. (And I’m talking public schools primarily). Any way, I’m thinking they have next year to rebound (quarter appearance min). If not, a 7 win or less season and it teeters on becoming the new norm.
It is my belief that there were games WC was not the best team on the field during their run, but they won, not because they thought they could, but because they knew they would. That played in their opponents minds too. It was an expected outcome. That is gone.
Nope, Chuck "Kilmer" Greminger. Played in the 60'sYou said Chuck, was that Alex Greminger?

Hey I get it they've knocked the crap out of so many SWMO FB programs over the years................rivals etc. they have been such with my Alma Mater Kearney but I have nothing but pure, flat out respect for them and everything they've done for MO HSFB over the decades. Yeah I'm the sappy type who roots for all the kids but, my goodness, they are gonna recover and I cannot wait to see them do it!
The last game will be for home field in the district title game. I don't see any other scenario.I would say that is a fair assessment. WP cannot have many injuries or their season is over.
They don't play each other until the end of the regular season too. Will be interesting to see if that game means much in the district standings. Home field advantage could be on the line for districts. That is a pretty big deal. I could easily see this being a situation where one teams wins in the regular season and the other team takes the district game.
THoughts on Ruskin? What appeared to be a deep district at beginning of season is not living up to the bill.
I would say that is a fair assessment. WP cannot have many injuries or their season is over.1. He sounds like Buckmaster. He was a great coach but some kids didn't want to play for him. A kid would either love him or hate him
2. WP and CJ will play in the district title game. WP has a better first string. I would say CJ has more depth. Only a few kids are playing both ways for CJ right now. The game may be decided by how many injuries WP has at that time.
It’s been said many times before (probably even in this thread), but even JRod went 5-5 his second season.I know that’s what a lot of people want to see but I think that’s unlikely. Will Webb football be what it was in the 2000-2010s almost no chance of that. Even with roderique I don’t think that would be the case. Not unless they can convince a few hundred kids who don’t play football to leave the school so they can drop a classification.
Two bad losses while abnormally short handed isn’t the end of everything. Now if losing these games becomes a trend we’re seeing when the field is covered with skilled experienced athletes that’s a different matter but it’s not where we’re at today.
Today they are just struggling and everyone is enjoying seeing Webb city be legit bad at football for the first time any of us can remember.
1. He sounds like Buckmaster. He was a great coach but some kids didn't want to play for him. A kid would either love him or hate himAlso, I think this is showing a little of the limitations of Coach Wyatt. He is a great X and Os coach and he is doing a good job with the Zizzers IMO. But he is also a guy who is going to rub some the wrong way and he is not going to get out some of the athletes on the fence about things. The result of this is going to be lower numbers. This is what separates Coach Ary from many coaches including Wyatt. He was great at X and Os and had the personality to get out and keep kids playing. Perkins had that personality as well, but struggled with more of the game and discipline stuff. Wyatt has been at schools where lower numbers were not a big issue and pretty much everyone played both sides of the ball. Now that he has moved up in class size that becomes a bigger issue. Will be interesting to see how he maneuvers in those waters. I think they have a good shot of winning their district still. But maybe tough to go much beyond that.
This is what is shocking to me. Kickapoo didn't even belong on the same field as Republic last night. Republic could have scored 80 if they had wanted too. Webb will have to improve massively to just lose to Republic by 14.Hope springs eternal! Reality check. The teams Webb has lost to have been clobbered by a couple teams remaining on your schedule (Republic and Carthage). Small chance against Neosho or Joplin. I’ll give you Willar_.

I’ll give you Willar_.Would tickle me to death if they would win out. None of the teams left on their schedule are much better than average football teams. When Webb was halfway healthy they had Nixa on their heals for two quarters and scored more on them than anyone so far.
I saw kids on defense last night standing on their heels waiting to get hit, time to start some different kids and find a group that wants to play
I sure did at least early (which only really verified opening night when nobody knows what to expect) but yeah they are really settling into an offense that can control clock with an explosive Soph QB who is also settling in. Scary stuff for future opponents. Skipping Homecoming (pretty much always do) next week but will be over in GV Week 6.Oh, and don’t look now but they are averaging 35.5 ppg scoring. By end of regular season that will likely be over 40.
I thought losing 9 starters from last year on offense would lower that?
You sound like a Royals fan...............I’m really hoping they don’t win another game this year
