Why Webb will beat Carthage...

It has been since 99 since they haven't won a district title.
I think the PC/Webb rematch was very different then Carthage/WC rematch. Carthage knows exactly what they are trying to do! Easy to stay laser focus when the bully is 7 miles away, unlike Webb taking a very good PC team seriously who they beat bad the year before! That's why I love sports, any given day!
Best of luck to everyone still playing Friday night!

Fair to say that no one SHOULD be surprised if the Cardinals win this one. No matter how the match up looks on paper.

I'm hoping to see Ctown and Jackson play again but this time, I think Ctown could blow the doors off of 'em. It'll be fun Friday though.
Well I am really hoping to see them play again but if they do someone is going to make a 300 mile trip. Hard to find a town further away from Carthage that's still in Missouri!

Well they talk about how it's been like 37 straight district trophies or something but they were knocked out of the post season (by Carthage) in 2007 also but maybe they weren't in the same district?
They weren't in the same districts. District championships were game 10 back then.

They were in the same district. The playoff format was just different then, than it is today. The district championship was decided by your last 3 games of the regular season essentially. There were a few years in there where Webb played Carthage in the regular season (which decided the district champion) and then again in the first round of the playoffs. 2007 was one of those years.

Calling it

Webb 28 Carthage 27
This seems to be a hate of WC and figuring you’ll be disappointed again and Webb will find a way to win. I guess maybe there is a 10% chance with their coaching staff but I’ve seen both teams several times this year. Carthage dominated both sides of the los in their first meeting. Could have easily been a turbo clock. Carthage beat Joplin worse than the score indicated and the Tigers handled Nixa easily from start to finish. They are EASILY the.most physical team in the COC. Kabance may not be an elite passer but is the best QB in the COC.
Gall is the best RB/athlete in the conference. Guidie has Rod’s #. It all adds up to a bad night for the Cardinals. Carthage 42 to 14.
Go Tigers!!

I think the best way to decide this game if it goes to OT is to have the parents play a OT and first teams parents to score wins.

Exactly what are "Rod's" and Guidies record in head to head matchups??

Isnt it something like Rod 15 wins and Guide 2 wins ???

Carthage will win easy

You had me in agreement except for Guidie having J-Rods number as it is most obviously the opposite. Guidie has probably won over 85% of his games not against Coach Rod and is like has won about 15% of his games against him.
A couple of those Carthage teams in Class 4 were probably good enough to have won a state title.

I think Carthage is a much better team.

The outcome of this game is 50-50.

Both are true.

Nobody is talking about Joplin at Lee's Summit North. That whole area down there is on FB fire PLUS nobody also talking about the old, defunct Southwest Conference having two perennial doormats (McDonald County and Nevada) playing for district titles tonight...........

Joplin remains an interesting x-factor and has a legit shot.

The difference is that while Nevada and Mac County have made huge strides neither is a class 4 contender. West Plains or Smithville would handle either pretty easily.

Guidie has 3. He also hasn't had the ridiculously huge pool of talent just waltz in like Rod has.
Guidie is a great coach but Carthage has had some teams with a LOT of talent as well so don’t underestimate the difference coaching has made in some of these match-ups.

Bottom line, regardless of tonight’s game Guidie does not in fact have J Rods #.

I would never bet against the Cards and guilty as charged as being a homer but although WC has lost a few games over the years this is the first time since I would say 2003 against Kearney that WC enters the game as the clear underdog. That includes match-ups with Rockhurst and Har-ber.

I’ll be very surprised if it isn’t WCs best effort of the year and we will see if that is enough.

My post was getting long winded and I didn’t elaborate. I didn’t mean that Guidie owns Rod, just that in the first meeting this year, he proved he has the horsepower and game plan to limit the usually feared split back triple option attack. Thanks for calling me out. My bad. No doubt Rod and the WC coaching staff in general are one of, if not the best in the state. No team in the state has the number of championships they have. Just maybe he has a new wrinkle or trick up his sleeve for tonight? Also, stated right up front that Kabance is not an elite passer. Wright is the better athlete, but you cannot argue Kabance’s effectiveness in the role he has been given. Total game manager, leader and most importantly, winner.

I think we were all on the same page on this one. The district streak rolls on.........
The real question is will they reach state? I feel like that was mostly coach Rod. (No disrespect to Webb City on the big dub) Hard to beat him twice in the same season.

It is the pressure of playing Webb in a championship game. The Carthage QB missed several wide open TDs that he hit all year. He felt the pressure.

I really think a lot of Webb fans and parents went to the game last night thinking it would probably be the final outing for this bunch and these seniors. However, on Friday morning, one of my son's best friends on the team had this old line on his Instagram: "You should have killed me when you had the chance." Congratulations, boys, on the 22nd straight. You surprised us all, and tears were shed on both sides.

Let's just worry about Lebanon at the moment. I'm sure that's all the coaching staff and the kids are thinking of.
They are a sneaky team. Big. Not sure they are as gifted on O. But they have big kids.

Big doesn't have much of an impact with Webb it seems, at least in years past. But, I haven't seen Lebanon play this year so I know nothing about them.

A few D1 kids. Just saying for context. Lol I think Webb can and will win. But you never know. Maybe these young kids/team found a new gear. We shall see.

He and staff are pretty darned amazing. They now face a real hard to figure Lebanon (quarter rematch from last year). Will defer to those more in the know about what to watch for in this one.

Trap game between Carthage and a potential Jackson match-up but still playing football so good problem to have.
