West Plains 29 - Hannibal 14 (FINAL)

His Junior year(when he was known for a lot of PF, was all on being too rough on the softies)

His senior year he may have had 1 or 2 on D

Either way, I don’t think giving him more touches would have equates to more personal fouls, unless the game has regressed so far that breaking a tackle or burning someone down the sideline is now a personal foul LOL

In today's work environment (live it every day here at my business) you make a very good point, something we used to take totally for granted. The key is to make the neutral site geographically sensible. Iowa does theirs in the UNIDome semis and finals. High schools in particularly the Tulsa metro pretty much all have very nice facilities with adequate seating. Ditto Texas and most of the larger Little Rock metro and NW Arkansas schools.

Gotta arrange it all with those neutral sites/schools way in advance to make it work. The other deal perhaps MO needs to look at is rotating the semifinal sites. It was my understanding they made the change because, back in the day, the West side was winning all the titles beating each other on the way to easy wins in the Dome. That is obviously NO LONGER the case at all.
Need to move it back to the dome where the temperature doesn't decide all the games.

I am not from West Plains but have attended a few of their games against Camdenton in the past and the Hannibal game last year. I agree 100% that I thought Perkins was outcoached last year. If I remember correctly a 1st or 2nd in goal from like the 1 or 2 and got a delay of game when he had timeouts. And then I just thought they should’ve used the Lair kid more in that game. Just an outsiders opinion.
I actually agree most of the thought process in this thread. But are you actually trying to say that Aneyas Williams was not a difference maker in that game?

He was absolutely the difference maker last year.
I believe I said after the 9 point loss in Sectionals last year that without Williams, WP wins that game by 2-3 TDs and I stand by that to this day.

Agree, and if he had played Friday night, Hannibal wins by at least 2-3 TDs.

one more thing, that announcer for West Plains is a character, how he announces the game is funny, i would like go back only to hear him
Steve Martz.
Great guy, awesome announcer. Tries to make the game fun for everyone.
Was a FB for WP back in the mid 90s
Also was one of the coaches for some of the freshman teams back around 2005 give or take

I agree Hannibal would have won, by how much is hard to say.
I don’t think WP was favored in this game by many, even with Williams out and they still won by 2 TDs.
Due mostly to the Zizzer D shutting down Hannibal in the 2nd half.
They’d already put a 15-0 deficit on the board for the 3rd Q even before #33 went down with about 2 min left in the quarter.
With Williams, Hannibal wins. I’d say 2 TDs more than likely

after seeing this i hope Hannibal football makes it to the semifinals next year. we Could have Hannibal Moms and Kearney Moms at the same game

Suggest we settle any disputes with a wet T shirt contest. Let the tops cling where they may.

I would have to say that my prediction would be a win for the Suburban KC Kearney moms, albeit some of them would probably be silicone-aided in their victory

LOL where in my statement did I say that? I know he was a difference maker. I'm just stating, even with Williams, I think West Plains was more talented and the better team, but they got outcoached.

Hannibal does not lose to West Plains this year if Williams is playing. I am not trying to take anything away from West Plains by saying that.

i still think Hannibal could of won friday night game without williams. Hannibal gave it their best but West Plains came out with the win. they're were bad officiating calls on both sides .West Plains they found Hannibal weakness all year in the Secondary. Hannibal need bring in a better DB coach or have a college kid come in and teach them how to cover, Hannibal will never get farther into the Playoffs if they have a better DB covering better.

In about the same amount of time it took you all to come up with these important and valid points about why neutral sites would be difficult or a bad idea, I could work out the logistics. Heck, I wouldn’t even charge MSHSAA because frankly they couldn’t afford me.

I won’t waste everyone’s time with all of the details, but just to whet your appetite a bit how would you feel about some doubleheaders at a collage site for quarterfinal games, for example?

It’s no wonder MSHSAA won’t work to make things better - they can come up with excuses too.

Back to my original point - it would be a better system if a team in the final 8 (quarterfinals) didn’t face the disadvantage of being a true away team just because they were on the bottom of a bracket in an odd year.

Oh get off your soapbox.
Drive your hind end down to MSHSAA and make them see the light.
Your theories and views are very valid points, but I’ll go back to the whole “MSHSAA would have to drop some dough to make that happen” and we all know they won’t.

My bad, was thinking this was a message board where we were welcome to try to come up with better ideas. Getting down from my soapbox now and will spend the rest of my evening enjoying my memory of playing in a state quarterfinal game on the campus of what was then Southwest Missouri State. Pretty cool experience.

Oh it’s definitely an open forum, but if you’re going to be a condescending diva with half of your response then there’s going to be a reaction. 🤣

I'm probably the reason why this thread been going for a long time now but i got a Question. What Starters does West Plains bring back next year, i always get the list of starters every game but i didn't get one at the West Plains games.

Will Stauffer DB sophomore- ran a 11 in the 100m dash last year as a freshman, was on the sideline last week against Hannibal, done for the season, spleen

Briggs Hughston WR/S sophomore 6’6 210

Peyton Reynolds Tackle Sophomore 6’3 240

Alex Judd MLB Sophomore

Dawson Howell FB Junior 6’2 230

Rylan Kenslow DB Sophomore

Chase Larson K Sophomore

Pretty sure there’s another D lineman and O Lineman coming back as well as another offensive player, but that list is just off the top of my head.

Only one of the players I listed is a two way starter, all those Sophs will be two way starters next year more than likely.

Hannibal Brings back 7 on Offense 6 on Defense

QB #14 Waylon Anders Sophomore
RB/S #22 Aneyas Williams Junior
TE/DE #24 Kane Wilson Junior
OL/DE #59 Noah Young Junior
OL/DL #79 Trenton Cowden Junior
OL #65 XXavion Washington Junior
OL #72 Ryan Ross Junior
LB #7 Owen Andrews Junior
LB #32 Dylan Bock Sophomore

I'm not Including S #23 Aaron Daughtery Sophomore because he replaced Aneyas, But i can tell you something about this Daugthery kid, he's a beast on Defense. Started the last 3 Hannibal games replacing Aneyas and in the 3 Games (5 Interceptions) and this is no joke either.

Hannibal actually has a very good DB coach. From what I know he played in college. I believe he works mainly with the safeties, but oversees the coverage. High school DBs, especially corners, have a tendency to look at the QB instead of their man. I've seen Hannibal's corners do that quite a bit. I doubt very seriously if they are being taught to do that. I think the problem with Hannibal is, mainly in their conference games, they are just better than the WRs they are playing, and they try to get by on athletic ability. Once they play better competition, they haven't been playing with technique, and get beat by good WRs. Also. like what happend in the WP game, Hannibal's DL got little to no pressure. Their DL is pretty good against the run, but they have no real pass rush threat from the DL. They've had to rely on bringing LBs to get pressure all year.

Daughtery had 4 ints, 3 in one game...but he did an excellent job once he got in there.

No agenda whatsoever. I wasn't meaning to badmouth anyone. I assume you are referring to the Ozark thread. I just stated what I was told by people close to that program. Based off what I was told and the results, I said what I said. Nothing personal against Dupee. It just didn't work out for him at Ozark for, most likely, various reasons. Not really defending anyone from Hannibal either. Again, going off what I've been told and what I see when I watch. It is what it is. The corners from Hannibal have been an issue for a while, not just when the current DB coach has been there. Like I said, he mainly works with safeties. Hannibal has had 3 All State safeties the last three years that he's been there, and maybe will have another this year with the Parker kid.
