Weird Jackson not being mentioned in class 5 . Ik they are 1-2 but they lost to pretty good schools . I think last year when Webb was 4-3 they never dropped out of the top 6 . I guess rightfully so since they won it all

It’s hard to count out Webb. I saw them play twice last year. Neither time I saw a team that could win state. Boy was I wrong. They are really good, especially here lately putting together a team as the year goes along. Think they can this year?

I personally believe Center is underrated and should be higher in the polls. They had a very impressive offensive showing against Oak Grove. St. Mary's deserves to remain number 1 in class 4 despite the loss. They lost to the this same team last year and when on to cruise to a state title. Francis Howell is going to make some noise in class 5!!

I personally think Webb is better than last year at least at this point in the season . But they are a walking mash unit in the backfield and have not shown much ability to throw the ball this year . Also lost a huge special team factor in Washington. Their QB started 4 games last year and threw it well but it was kinda mid season so hopefully that comes along . When they can be effective passing they are about impossible to truly stop . I haven't seen that so far this year but their #5 or 6 RB had over 200 yds last week so the o line is obviously doing their job . They don't have to be dynamic on the passing game ....just good at hitting small slants and dig routes here and there and so far they aren't good at it . I think this team can potentially win state but beating Carthage when it matters won't be easy .

Hannibal too low. The fact that could play with Troy shows me they are really good
St. Mary’s is gonna lose at least two of the next three games. You mooks on here continue to look at last year and think that the all the same players are back it makes me laugh.

Don't underestimate the mental block that Webb is to Carthage. It'll go about the same as it did last year.

Nevada returns the best rushing attack in the state.
I feel they are possibly NOT the 3rd best team in that stacked class. But people are underestimating that line they have on both sides, and the run game. Steadman is one of the most underrated RBs in the state.

Platte County in Class 5 to me is a no brainer. Combined losses to Smithville and Kearney by 10 and just knocked out NKC of Class 5. They've already played a playoff schedule and have Grain Valley, Oak Park and Raytown coming up. Those three games will really show where they are compared to the rest of class 5.

9. Hillsboro

Monroe City is not number 1. They have South Shelby this week and then Centralia. Also they finish with Macon and Clark County. Hopefully they stay healthy for the play-offs. The 4 districts are pretty evenly matched up top of each that they will have to face to make it back to the finals.

Not sure some people realize how good Nevada is. Seneca and Lamar will both be tests, but not sure there is a Class 4 team in SWMO that is better.

I really like Center's RB in particular but Oak Grove is really, really down this year.

I’d put Nevada (right now) in the top 5. We will see if they can truly put themselves in an undisputed spot if they beat Lamar and Seneca. But those are the only teams in their way before districts come around.

Watch this Grain Valley game. NEVER pays to "score compare" and think that will yield what is going to happen. This is quietly a very nice little rivalry.

Nevada and Center are in the same district. Lots of FB to be played before anyone dares talk seriously about that BUT would be quite the matchup from what I've seen/read.

Is Nevada supposed to be much improved from last year? Only reason I ask is because their performance against Lincoln in the playoffs told me that while they're a solid team, they aren't elite when it comes to C4. Like others have said the Lamar game in 2 weeks will tell you everything you need to know about Nevada. I personally think they're ranked to high. Hannibal, St. Mary's, Smithville, Kearney, appear to me to be at least 2-3 touchdowns better.

I'll believe it about Hannibal when I see it. Everybody talked about how great they were all year last year, too. Then I saw them in the title game and thought they'd be about .500 if they were in the KC area.

Sure, but Smithville beat them about like they beat everyone other than PC, Lincoln, and MICDS. Hannibal would do fine against other C4 and C5 schools in the KC area IMO.

Line play is a lot better. They have a running back that’s bigger than last year who has elite speed, but like you recognized and I’ve said. We should hold most judgment out from when they play Lamar. I’m personally not I’m the camp of they will go far out of districts. But I do believe they are better than last year. Still, it’s wait and see for me. The media is high on them, which is weird to me. But I’ve only watched a part of a game this year.

Nevada returns the best rushing attack in the state.
first off Hannibal and Webb City has the best rushing attack. second how does a team get ranked because of a RB. rankings is based off game game performance and 3 Nevada is ranked 13th maxpreps and 14 Calpreps C4 rankings!!!

Hannibal is better on offense this year and last year. 3 reason Hannibal lost state.

first reason Aneyas Williams blame it on himself not the team. Hannibal should of went to other receivers and running backs last year championship game. It was all about Williams in the championship game.

second it was hard to get other players the ball last year in regular season and playoffs because about every time aneyas touch the ball he scored.

3. West Plains, North County, and Smithville uses a different offense and defensive schemes that the teams Hannibal play in their conference and Non-conference games!!!

Well, you are a Hannibal fan, so I feel there’s some inherent bias. Next, maxpreps and Calpreps are using data, and not using eye tests, or anyone around in any of the states to judge for this data.(Yes you can argue that’s better. I get that) They would also pick every private school in every matchup because of player recruiting “stars” whatever. And also use strength of schedule. It’s also very helpful sometimes, but not always. But it’s not always the case those are more accurate at all really. There’s really no reason to argue. I think any team is in trouble if they think a RB is going to win them the game alone just saying.

Here in the KC metro a team that could be very RB heavy is Center. Were LN-Ray Pec not that week would go to Pleasant Hill to check them out live. Week 7 hosting Odessa is also a possibility (battle of the top RBs there).

Your judging Hannibal last year off of one bad game. They played bad, and Smithville played pretty much a perfect game. Smithville was the better team, but not as much as the score made it look like.

The combo of Winston Moore and Steve Hall at MICDS will be a problem for every team. Winston lines up at QB, RB and WR. He also ran a 4.38 laser timed 40. Steve while not as fast has been an all state RB for 2 years straight. MICDS line is pretty big this year, not quite as large as the year they lost to Helias, but still good size. I expect both of them to have over 1000 yards by end of year.

Smithville had a drive that took 8 minutes off the clock to start the 4th qtr. It stalled at the 7 yd line, where they elected to kick a FG, making it 31-0. If that had ended in a TD, the game would have ended with a running clock. Frame it how you want, but that is an ass kicking.

The fighting Freds (MICDS) almost took them out in the semis. That awakened Smithville in my opinion.

Hannibal had two interceptions in the red zone. One was in the end zone where Hannibal's QB threw into literally triple coverage to Williams. Bad decision, not necessarily a great play by Smithville. Big plays early killed Hannibal, and Smithville's ability to be able to get just enough to keep the chains moving on that 4th quarter drive was huge. Again, I said Smithville was the better team, especially upfront. Their OL/DL played great.

Undefeated Eureka after beating a solid Kirkwood team and not getting ranked is pretty awful IMO. Easily better than Camdenton and Lebanon while they would get tested against the rest of the pack, but like their chances frankly against everybody else based on how they matchup. They have a huge offensive line and a great running back in Kevin Emmanuel who already has 709 rushing yards, nine touchdowns, and averages 9.6 yards per carry. Their o-line's combined weight average is 262-pounds and that doesn't include 6-4, 240-pound tight end Trenton Groff who is almost always blocking.

If Eureka beats Marquette this Friday you won't be worrying about them being ranked anymore.
