Missouri Week 9 Sportwriters Poll

Branson shouldn't be ranked. Not now, not next year or any other year in the foreseeable future. They left a legit conference for a weak one. That alone should eliminate them from the discussion in perpetuity.

IMO, if they want to be state ranked or taken seriously, they should have stayed in the COC and battled it out, not leave to be the biggest school in a weak leage.

They might be really good. They can prove it next month. Until then, they've just proven they're scared of competition and teams that are scared of competition shouldn't be rewarded or recognized.

Helias should be there. Branson on the other hand I agree not, but the main question is Who is better than Helias outside of the top 5 or even teams that not Ranked? maybe except for republic!!!
Carthage held a team that would destroy everyone on Helias' schedule to their season low in points and also beat 3 teams who are better than everyone not named Rock Bridge on their schedule. Anyone who thinks beating (even a down) Webb at Webb isn't difficult has never been to a game there.

Perhaps big if but IF Carthage and Webb hook up in the D7 playoffs good luck predicting that one.................

I don't think it's that big an IF. But predicting how it would go is impossible.

Carthage won by a missed xp, although arguably I think even had the score been tied Carthage still wins by a FG. Either way a close game. Webb City almost always comes out on the right end of district games, but this team hasn't performed like a typical WC team, although they certainly have improved. WC kept it close with a big play that you can't necessarily count on happening again. On the other hand WC has seen and experienced what Carthage is going to do, so it's just a matter of adjusting where they can. The only thing Carthage did out of the ordinary was only score 14 points.

I can tell you that Webb fans and players alike believe 100% they will win if given the chance. That could give them a confidence boost or cause them to overlook a team that shouldn't be overlooked.

I can’t imagine that Kirksville is better than Smithville.

I’m Class 3, it’s hard for me to see Dexter as a top 3 team playing a SEMO schedule.
The win over Park Hills was solid, but they are not close to SFB, I would put Dexter 9 and Boonville or Park Hills 10 and slide everyone up.

No they are aren't.

They played one bad quarter against Rock Bridge which killed them.

There starting D has given up I believe 64 points this year. They are solid. The rest of points were given up by second and third string.

The offense is where I am more worried about having sustained drives against better defenses.

I would say Helias should be top ten but where at I really don't know until we play a solid team.
What is your take from the Lift for Life game? I didn't watch it but that was the one that shocked me. I know Coach Pitts will always have the defense prepared, but like you said I was caught off guard by the lack of offense.

Even with the injuries to BO, I would be shocked if it's not BO and Seneca in the title game. I don't think there is a team in Class 3 that is within 4 scores of either of those teams.

Helias came out flat. Not sure if was because it was Senior night and your normal routine was thrown off or what. They came out the second half a different team. But lets give credit to Lift for Life. That team is going to make some noise in 3A. Most of their losses were all to good teams that are in higher classes. They are extremely fast and talented in the skill positions. They don't have a lot of players so they get tired in the second half.
