Top three MO HSFB games you have seen in person all time

Even though they ran out of gas and lost the energy, efficiency and attitude Smithville brought right at very heavily favored St. Mary's last November was without a doubt the most impressive performance (especially for circa 2.5 quarters) I've seen in this area since I can remember.

Here is another nugget that supports what you say here: NUMBERS. Smithville's enrollment is smaller than Kearney and much so than Platte County but man do they ever have lots and lots of kids out for FB! Other key, as I pointed out before both Kearney games, is how every single player is working very hard physically. They have the look of a number of elite programs in MO history.

St. Mary's had Homey the Clown coaching them. That was like Pop Warner stuff over there. They won because they had the Jamal's and Jerome's. Period. Not even the great and powerful WIzard of Ambrosian could stop it.

YUGE O Line. Pounded and pounded and pounded until the holes opened up. The HC is gone to IL wonder what the heck to expect from the Dragons this year.

Anyone who attended in person may remember St. Mary's had a booster club of ONE Mom who could be heard rooting the Dragons on from Parkville.

No knock on Minnick...but man, they just don't come much better than Jason Ambroson. Dude can take his and beat yours, then take yours and beat his. Guy can flat coach.
We should not be leaving Utz at Platte County out. The Pirates have fielded several outstanding squads and players (2016 and the 2019-21 run stand out). The Highway 92 trio will go round robin Weeks 1-3 again this year all three regular season games were very, very tight last season.

Are you sure that wasn't Bosko in drag, preppy?

And look at the talent they had. Chandavian to the Tenn Vols. Cameron Wolfe to Pitt State, Nate Walls to Washburn and Carter Salzman to Arkansas State.

They got their backs broken, literally, by having to play Kearney and Smithville in games one and two. They lost Salzman for the year vs. Smithville. They were shell shocked after that.

Utz tried everything and the kitchen sink including having Bradley play both sides of the ball come playoff time. That Oak Park district semi was painful to watch, frankly.

Been waiting all offseason to hear from you. Yes Kearney has a lot of key talent back vs. Smithville basically clearing the decks. Were the September 8 regular season game at Kearney would definitely favor them pretty heavily but Smithville has not lost at home to a public school since old nemesis Platte County pulled off the miracle comeback in 2018 (the game I left at half like an idiot).

As for the coaching comparison Smithville is AHEAD of Kearney not better. The fair comparison is where Smithville was going into Ambroson Year Two vs. Kearney's current trajectory with Minnick and Co. In saying that I do wonder what psych effect that blowout loss would have IF Kearney and Smithville indeed do collide in the 2023 playoffs. That may not happen, though, because of the MSHSAA C6 expansion and subsequent filling the other classes. Kearney could very easily be Class 5 this fall.

I stand very strongly by any HC who can do what Logan did at Raytown and hit double digits wins first year at a school where winning is considered an expectation vs. pleasant surprise. As stated since last season concluded I do want to see Kearney move forward in the playoffs, though, something that definitely has been an issue for him so far. Experience, though, will likely take care of that.

Whooo, hooo... Heard some intel.

Including all the linebackers and the backfield for K this year, the average 40 times is about 4.63. Got a 4.4 and several 4.5s. Lots of 4.6s. Also, the Big athletic D front returning, bigger, and stronger. I say they average giving up less than 7 points/game. But slop time in turbo for most of their games will prolly drive up that number. Look for this D to be faster, and much better up front than last year.
