Teams in bold are located in Southwest Missouri, my guess is the list was copied from Ozarksportszone.

I am always entertained by this list. It's more a list of media favorites than anything. I thought it was weird that WC was still ranked after starting 0-2. Now at 4-3 they are still a top 10 team? Only a team with their history would still be ranked after dropping 3 games. Nixa fell off the list after just one loss. This week they are still receiving votes, probably just from the Springfield media. On the preseason list Glendale was RV and I didn't get why because I never hear much about football coming out of Springfield except occasionally Kickapoo, but Glendale from what I have heard has been very impressive.

Wonder what is the justification of Ranking Reeds at number 10 but not Cassville who beat the Wolfs easily and who clearly play in a very weak conference? Cassville only two losses are to Lamar ranked number 1 in class 2 and Monett ranked 4th in class 3.

Or Ozark who has beat 3 ranked teams. The teams they beat stay in the rankings and they don't even receive votes. Like I have said before, program history seems to carry a lot of weight with the media rankings. It takes a lot, apparently more than 3 losses to convince the media that WC is not a power this particular season. And it seems that newcomers to the list seem to have to prove a lot to get into the club.

Yeah you have to wonder if the justification to that is Well Webb is not the same this year so not as convincing of a win... But on the other hand when Ranking Webb they are probable like well it's Webb.

It's hard to figure out if the COC large is really good overall or just not very good overall this year. We will know more once district starts. But it seems there is a lot of parity this year, which is exciting for us fans.

I think the reasons Ozark isn't ahead of the 3 ranked teams they beat is pretty obvious: they beat Carthage in week 1 but Carthage hasn't lost since then while Ozark has lost twice; and class 5 Ozark isn't in the same class rankings as class 4 CJ and Webb.

Well, I can say I agree with keeping Valle at #1. I do have a problem with keeping Centralia in the top 10 after 2 straight losses over an undefeated South Callaway squad. And lol at Webb in the top 10. Oh well, it will work itself out.

Class 5. 1. Chaminade, 2) Glendale 3) William Chrisman. 4) Staley 5) Park Hill South 6) Battle (They had that much trouble with Truman, they are not in the top five.)

Class 4. 1. Kearney (Then everyone else right behind them in no order: Platte County, Webb, CJ, Parkway North, and Ladue.) Hannibal? No.

Class 3. 1. Maryville 2. Richmond. (having them at 7 is ignoring the stomping they have been doing...they should only be 7 point underdogs to Maryville.) 3. Bair Oaks. 4. Center 5. Monett.

I agree on Centralia, they have started playing teams over .500 and drop 2 straight. Meanwhile Lawson who also has 2 losses to quality opponents and a couple good quality wins is not ranked. Doesn't seem logical.

Centralia is a joke in class 2. They played nobody for weeks.

Dark horse is still out there though....

Off topic, but about Centralia still, I always wondered what MoSports logic was when they kept putting Centralia at number 2 in the power poll over Liberty in C2

At this point of the season at 5-2 Camdenton should be ranked. They do have Glendale in a couple weeks so they will be underdogs. I find it amazing the Camdenton isn't even getting any votes. The only other team getting any votes is Smithville. Kearney is #1 until proven otherwise.

As for the rest of Class 4. I can see why Hillsboro at 7-0 might think they should be ranked higher but if Hillsboro and WC had traded schedules I suspect WC is 7-0 right now and Hillsboro is 4-3 or worse.

Yes, but Carthage went from no votes to making the list after beating a ranked C4 team (CJ). I'm not claiming that Ozark should be ranked, but some of the logic in the rankings seems more based on what programs typically do than what they have actually done in the current season.

How is class 2 playoffs oriented this year? North/South or East/West?

A loss to 2-5 Republic could be a factor...

Well besides Camdenton, who I definitely think should be ranked, there isn't that many candidates I suppose. Raytown South or West Plains are probably as good as some of the teams listed but both have lost playing better competition and although Maryville beat them soundly that is their only loss.

Truman, the best rushing team in KC area.

I think district seeding should be done off of rankings. It would make the rankings much more meaningful.

Hard to do when you have bias in the media. I would rather have the formula that is in place for now. St. Louis media voting for teams on the west side of the state? No thank you

Kansas City 810 Sports;
Metro Area including Kansas has it this way...

05) Bishop Miege 4-1
06) Kearney 7-0

How do you get placed ahead of a unbeaten team with "less games" played and a loss?

If both teams win out with no more losses. Kansas keeps its higher ranking even though (2) games less will be played and a loss.

Sounds like someone has some News Papers to sell in their home state.

Did I mention that Missouri just crushed every OZ team they played?

Calpreps has bishop as a 35-21 favorite. Bishop meige is loaded again per normal. Only loss coming to #1 blue valley. Both are in the loaded ekl instead of the weaker sunflower league that played the missouri schools

I think district seeding should be done off of rankings. It would make the rankings much more meaningful.
That would indeed make the rankings more meaningful, but it wouldn't make them any less silly. It would just give the teams in the spotlight more of a cushion for mistakes because the media will continue to rank historically strong teams high even in an off year. As well as teams that may not be as competitive on a state wide level as their local media wants to think.

It might not make a huge difference for many but there would be some cases where deserving teams get the short end of the stick simply because they haven't yet earned the attention of the media.

I believe a quality Mill Valley school last year was undefeated as well and #1.

In Kansas that is ...

How can you have Staley at 4, with two losses, and and undefeated Chrisman team at 5, when Chrisman beat Staley?

How can you have Staley at 4, with two losses, and and undefeated Chrisman team at 5, when Chrisman beat Staley?

I believe he said a turkey sandwich with bacon was his reasoning.

To break this down for you by the numbers...

#01) Turkey is served at Thanksgiving

#02) State Championships are served in November

By simply doing the math one can conclude that Staley had Turkey Sandwiches for lunch.

According to maxpreps HC has a strength of schedule of 11.5. Blue Springs is at 43.9. I would say HC should be ranked around 8th based on that. I would guess HC will get throttled by CBC. CBC is also ranked behind BS.
