Excelsior Springs to the Midland Empire Conference

Independent for FB this next season. Will defer to someone associated with the school but I would think they remain independent unless the Suburban Blue came calling but not sure they'd want a private.
This is a very good move for Excelsior their enrollment etc. is a better MEC fit vs. the Suburban Blue.
My guess would be the Suburban will come calling for Van Horn
Do you believe Center will stick with the MRVC West? Geographically they should be in said Sub Blue in my opinion.
I dont know if they offer enough sports to be viable in the Blue.
Excelsior will get a couple wins but it's not going to be a alot different. Benton, Cameron and Lafayette.
There are enough charter schools and private schools in the KC area. Why don't they create their own conference?

Thank you I've been lobbying for this for years now but Pius is a bit of a misfit they would be utterly dominant in FB but that would be a very attractive BB league.
I would move Lincoln Prep out of the IL to join this league and would definitely look at adding Van Horn although I suspect Mullet is right a move toward them joining the Sub Blue may be forthcoming. This could also, as previously proposed, be a good geographical home for Center.
No indication they want back in I just was suggesting it would be sensible geographically as opposed to all those long country drives.
I actually think Danneman et al will improve the Tigers substantially fighting soccer as the predominant fall boys sport as they are and EXS will beat all three of those teams and could be on par with Chilli.
My guess is VH will get first right of refusal since the rest of the schools in the Independence school district are part of the Suburban.
SPX, Barstow, Summit, St. Michaels, Hogan, UA, Pembroke and KIPP would be a helluva basketball conference...and maybe Baseball.
They should beat those 3 teams. Probably could get Chilli, they are up and down. Might get Savanah. Probably not going to get Maryville.
Savannah has had good Ds the past couple of years that would be an up front challenge. Exiting the Blue's two fellow Hwy 92 schools, who are both beasts up front (Kearney and Smithville), will benefit hugely.
Excelsior would be better off replacing Braymer in the CLAA. They will still be bottom feeders in the MEC. Their boys basketball team hasn't won a game all year. The football team won 2 games.
Way back when I was a youngster it was elite with a capital E.
Vic Bonuchi followed by Bill Tuck had some hellacious teams !

And Excelsior fans outnumbered all the other schools in large meets by a huge margin. Impressive all around what memories!
I believe that it was '96 that Bonuchi led the FB team to a state championship. The semifinal game played at Excelsior vs. Webb City was a classic ! I'll never forget that one !
Agreed. They where making the pitch when Clinton looking at moving conference (which I still think will happen)
