Shout out to the "Conservatives"

Are you saying there aren't any Baptist women preachers?
As I said different churches put more emphasis on different passages.
As i've stated before, Catholics are catholics. They have their own Bible, follow the teachings of the Pope over Christs teachings, and aren't protestants like all other Christians. Mormons too fit the same description as Catholics.
Southern baptists aka swmo baptists? Absolutely not.

You have a very poor understanding of Catholicism. Laughably poor. If you think Catholics aren't Christian then that's asinine.

If I show you Southern Baptist women preachers will you admit you are wrong???? No, you will hide.

Are you saying Catholics don't have their own Bible? Are you saying the Popes teaching doesn't take precident?
That said, not all Catholic churches are created equal.

This whole line of debate was started by Veer saying 10 people would get 10 different interpretations.
I said then that was false but on some passages you might get 2. That in itself is acknowledgement there are dissagreements in interpretation sometimes. 3R said that was the reason for the different "religions". The reasons for the different denominations among Christians are many but disputes over interpretations isn't the reason. Emphasis on different scripture is foremost. The use of spiritual gifts is emphasised by the pentecostals. Weekly communion is important to some and baptism by immersion by others. All believe in spiritual gifts, all believe in communion, and all believe in baptism.
Worship style is another big reason. Some, mostly older, want traditional worship while others want a modern approach. Neither is right or wrong but there is a difference of method. Some churches emphasize missions and others emphasize fellowship. Some emphasize respect in dress and some emphasize casual attire.
There are many styles of churches based mostly on personal prefferences but all emphasize Christ as savior of sinfull people. If not, they aren't Christian churches.

There are outliers to any encompassing statements so, you will find examples that don't fit this statement but they are not the rule.

Yes, please do. Please show me that church, because they would be in direct violation of the charter of the southern baptist convention.

They have the apocrypha, but it does not provide teaching. They are historical books. They do not change the message of Jesus Christ. You can buy Protestant bibles with the apocrypha too.

Catholics see the pope as a direct emissary from God to teach the world. The pope's word certainly does not replace christ's word. The pope is not God to the Catholics, and he is not on the same level as Jesus Christ.

Again, your knowledge outside of your little bubble is laughable.

Except for, you know, the two largest sects of Christianity. But you're right, totally not the rule.

BWIM released four reports on the State of Women in Baptist Life, with the most recent in 2010. The total number of women as pastors or co-pastors reached 135 that year, up from the 102 recorded in 2005. Virginia led with 23. North Carolina followed with 19, Georgia with 14 and Texas with 11.

Wait..Catholics don't use the Bible as their Holy Book?

Evidently your knowledge is lacking.

Can women be pastors or deacons in the SBC?
Southern Baptists have long valued the priceless contribution of women as they have ministered to advance God's Kingdom. The Baptist Faith and Message (BF&M) affirms the vital role of women serving in the church. Yet it recognizes the biblical restriction concerning the office of pastor, saying: "While both men and women are gifted for service in the church, the office of pastor is limited to men as qualified by Scripture." The passages that restrict the office of pastor to men do not negate the essential equality of men and women before God, but rather focus on the assignment of roles.

If you are saying they CAN'T, how are they?

They can and they are!

Veer's not saying they can't, the southern baptist convention says they can't.

Furthermore, 1 Timothy says, "A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet," so I assume those churches that do have women pastors are not Christian churches.

Since there are women Pastors of SBCs, they aren't prohibiting it. They aren't supporting it as an organization but they are not stopping them either.

I being Paul. Paul talks of women in leadership he worked with so he had no problem with women leaders but society did (in church or society) thus he said women should not be the teachers in order for the gospel to be recieved.

This is just another example of different groups of Christians emphasizing different passages. In certain circles, women being leaders is not usefull since man is the head of the woman in other circles the woman being created equal trumps that. Both are right but not all society accepts both.

It's right there in black and white son.

I can't help it if some Christians pick and choose what part of God's word to believe.

Yes, some do. It is usually people like you claiming Christianity but not accepting the Old Testament history as accurate or the New Testament teachings as followable.

If it's a violation of Gods word, as you claim, why are you part of a church in violation of Gods word?

I don't think it is. A bible literalist like yourself thinks it is.

YOU are the one saying it's a violation of scripture....not me.
YOU are the one saying women CAN'T be pastors in SBC.....not me.
It's not a violation of scripture if the WHOLE scripture is used. YOU are the one saying it is.

17% of Americans attend church every Sunday. Many Americans have become disillusioned by organized religion, myself included. I was born and raised Catholic, but there is so much I don't agree with in the Catholic church. The priest sex scandals and the Catholic church systematic cover up for decades were the last straw for me, and no longer attend church . I refuse to give one dime to the richest institution on earth so they can pay off victims of priests' sexual abuse.

I guess you don't take 1 Timothy literally. Picking and choosing again.

I might be wrong but I believe the bible was pro slavery. Enough said. That is just my interpretation.

Is IT the SBC? The SBC isn't stopping anyone from being a pastor unless you think those women pastors aren't in SBC churches. They are like the GOP with their platform issues. They don't support but don't stop.

Churches don't force you to pay attendance admission fees or require any contributions. Do don't have to pay to play. That is an easy out.
As i've said, the Catholic church values their human leaders more than their beliefs derived from scripture.

Yes, you are wrong. The Bible isn't pro slavery. The Bible promotes all followers of Christ giving up their God given freedoms if need be to promote good relationships.

Yes I do. Paul litterally told Timoth (a young pastor he was advising) he didn't allow women to pastor.
So Paul's instruction to Timothy is just for Timothy, but Paul's instrustions to the Romans about homosexuality is for all people?

How deep do you want to dig this hole?

However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way. (Leviticus 25:44-46 NLT)

If you buy a Hebrew slave, he is to serve for only six years. Set him free in the seventh year, and he will owe you nothing for his freedom. If he was single when he became your slave and then married afterward, only he will go free in the seventh year. But if he was married before he became a slave, then his wife will be freed with him. If his master gave him a wife while he was a slave, and they had sons or daughters, then the man will be free in the seventh year, but his wife and children will still belong to his master. But the slave may plainly declare, 'I love my master, my wife, and my children. I would rather not go free.' If he does this, his master must present him before God. Then his master must take him to the door and publicly pierce his ear with an awl. After that, the slave will belong to his master forever. (Exodus 21:2-6 NLT)

When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again. But he is not allowed to sell her to foreigners, since he is the one who broke the contract with her. And if the slave girl's owner arranges for her to marry his son, he may no longer treat her as a slave girl, but he must treat her as his daughter. If he himself marries her and then takes another wife, he may not reduce her food or clothing or fail to sleep with her as his wife. If he fails in any of these three ways, she may leave as a free woman without making any payment. (Exodus 21:7-11 NLT)

When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property. (Exodus 21:20-21 NAB)

And from the NEW TESTAMENT....

Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ. (Ephesians 6:5 NLT)

Christians who are slaves should give their masters full respect so that the name of God and his teaching will not be shamed. If your master is a Christian, that is no excuse for being disrespectful. You should work all the harder because you are helping another believer by your efforts. Teach these truths, Timothy, and encourage everyone to obey them. (1 Timothy 6:1-2 NLT)

In the following parable, Jesus clearly approves of beating slaves even if they didn't know they were doing anything wrong.

The servant will be severely punished, for though he knew his duty, he refused to do it. "But people who are not aware that they are doing wrong will be punished only lightly. Much is required from those to whom much is given, and much more is required from those to whom much more is given." (Luke 12:47-48 NLT)

Perhaps you don't know your Bible as well as the heathen.

What hole? Paul was instructing Timothy how he handled the situation of society rejecting women preachers. Paul was instructing CHURCHES (people are the church) what was sin and the effect thereof.

Get out of your hole so you can see around.

Perhaps you don't know your Bible as well as the heathen.

I was obviously talking about New Testament instructions to todays church (no longer under Levitical laws). There is NOTHING in the New testament that encourages taking slaves. As I said, it does encourage people to show respect in any situation you find yourself.

You don't know the bible very well. If you did, you would know that Paul was instructing the people of Rome, not all churches. You can't have it both ways. Of course you'll try to have it both ways, but people with functioning brains will see right through you.

Yes the SBC makes it clear the bible says no women preachers.

How can anyone disagree when it's all in black and white?

Have I EVER said the SBC thought women pastoring was a good idea????

What does the mean old SBC do to these women pastors IN SBC CHURCHES when they find them???? Are they burned at the stake? Are they reprimanded??? Are they allowed to continue????

If you will answer those questions the case is closed. That is why you won't.

By that logic none of the Bible applies to us since none of it was directed at us. You really are ranting now.
