Shout out to the "Conservatives"

I'd take your faith a lot more seriously if you had the same compassion and love as jesus and if you didn't cherry pick which parts of the bible you followed.

OK Bible quoters, try this one on for size;

"Sell your possessions and give to the poor." Luke 13.33

That's what the Bible says you should do. The way you all follow the teachings of the Bible word for word, there's no getting around it.

MILLER, AGMAN, KENNY - KEEP US POSTED ON WHEN YOU WILL BE HAVING YOUR YARD SALES.

I guess you must think I am the rich young ruler Jesus was talking to. Or more likely, you don't have any idea what the Bible actually says.

These people are so charitable. They don't want the poor to have healthcare or food stamps but other than they are are god-like.

Never said I was godlike.
I want everyone to have their needs met just don't want the government deciding what needs are or forcing participation.

Or you decide which parts of the Bible are convenient for you to follow, disregard the rest, and then decide ONLY your interpretation of scripture is correct so that you can forever maintain your "moral superiority". Easy to do when you can make scripture say whatever YOU want it to, and completely shut out anything that contradicts your narrow worldview.

It's not about my faith. Faith in me would be foolish. It's about following Gods rules. You are the one picking which parts to believe as opposed to the entirety of the book.

You're the problem. I bet you're a joy to be around with your holier than thou attitude.

And some Christians wonder why other struggle with churches ? People like the Amen Corner on here.

If you can retire at 59.5 then you probably are exactly who Jesus is talking to.

All I have ever done is said what the Bible says. I have NEVER said I was in any way holy or even good at following the Bible.
The problem lies in those like you who want to say the Bible says things it doesn't or that it can't be trusted.

Matthew 23:28

If you arent even good at following the Bible, you need to read Matthew 23:28 and see what it says about hypocrites.

I own 4 vehicles. The newest of those is a 2002 model.
Idrive a 99 Monte Carly with 320,000 miles on it to work every day with no AC. I get up at 3:15 AM every day but Sunday and get home from work around 5:30. I give away more than I save every year. I'm clearly living a self consumed life full of riches.

Here's a quote for you,

If you want to know the true character of a man, look at how he treats his inferiors.
-Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, pg. 410

That's about as relevant as any of the Bible verses you spew on here.

If you trust Harry Potter as much as the Bible then I rest my case. There is nothing that can be said to a non Christian to persuade them to follow Gods advice.

I am a Christian, but I'm not judge and jury like you. Christianists like you are the reason younger generations are leaving the church in droves. And it's a shame. The new Pope gets it and will be good in the coming years for the faith.

People leave the church because they are too selfish to give up their "rights" to follow Gods ways.

In other words you like to pick and chose what government perks you like to pick as you do Bible readings. In other words you probably like the USDA to inspect meat and produce, etc. and tell you what is safe for your consumption. Plus a jillion other programs. You are a radical in so many ways.

Sell your possessions and give to the poor. That's what the bible says. Period. So until you do that, don't throw bible quotes out there to suit your argument.

So some of us try to follow as much of the bible as we can, and some mock the bible. Then you put us down for not following EVERY little thing.

People trying to do what is right........ Mock them
People not trying to do what's right....... Praise them

And then u wonder why we call liberals judgemental ?

Yes liberals are judgemental. Republiberalcan religious extremists like miller particularly.

Who is praising those not doing right? How bout big mouth 'Christians' follow the whole Bible or shut up?

Problem solved. Mind your own danged business and quit preaching when you ain't walkin the walk.

Not to get into the theological urinating contest but if the point is that "liberals are judgmental" when the entire argument being raised by the right is a judgment of others...how is that magically any better?

Far right extremists just aren't very smart.
The gay people I have known in my life didn't "choose" to be gay. They just are. So you judgmental people just sicken me. Do you hate the mentally handicapped too? They are different from you. And they didn't choose their situation either. Why can't you just leave these people alone? Being born isn't a sin.

Each person on this board has enough problems of their own, that they don't need to worry about who is sleeping with whom.

It says a lot of things that aren't accurate when you just take a small snippet.
You "Christians" sure get offended by Bible verses.

Oh yeah, I'm a huge fan of the USDA, FDA, IRS, EPA, and all those other alphabet soup agencies. You've got me pegged.

Is saying what the Bible says is sin judgemental? Have I ever said a homosexual was anything other than sinning? Have I ever said a homosexual was a person to fear any more than anyone else?

Liberals ARE judgemental towards conservatives in unfair and inaccurate ways

What is unfair and inaccurate?

The fact is that the evangelical right has tried to use the government to legislate its desired morality for decades. It's losing the battles for public opinion and in the courts, and it's throwing a hissy fit that it's being told it's not ok to discriminate against people when others find discrimination morally unjustified.

Where is the outrage about divorce? Adultery? Work on the Sabbath? Etc. The social liberals are right - the battle over gay rights is a fight against selective outrage from the right against a group they don't like.

In the battle for public opinion on gay rights, the religious right has lost, and it's still coming to terms with just how bad it's going to get for them on this. LGBT rights are the civil rights movement of the 21st Century. They will continue to win these battles for public opinion over time.

Further, the "conservative" position is that gay marriage shouldn't be illegal if straight marriage is legal. The GOP big government position is that it can legislate morality in situations where the actions of others impose no substantive harms on them. The libertarians have been all over this not being conservative for a long time.

Agreed. GOP isn't conservative by deed.
