In anticipation of this weekend's results:

If _____________________ team wins their class, there is no way of determining if they would have won a larger class, but it is doubtful.

And if _________________ team wins their class, that doesn't necessarily mean that ____________________ was the 2nd best team, or ____________________________ was the 3rd best team, etc.

There. That should settle that.

If Jackson wins, they are the best in state and that's really not open for discussion.

Whomever wins Class 1 and 2 will have earned it fair and square. No asterisk.

Class 3 was ravaged by the 'rona. Sucks, but if there's an asterisk to be applied this is the class to do it in. Still, it was a very strong class this year.

Class 4 was most hurt by the 'evening out' of class sizes it seems. Lopped off too much to fill in Class 5 from a competition standpoint. Might take a few years to see some recovery.

No Asterisk for any class! Everyone and every class has been affected....period. Teams that have survived this deserve everything they get.

When you play a sissy schedule, of course you don't lose any.
That’s right, all of Jackson’ opponents were girls’ teams. Forgot about that.
Understand, when you compete in a sparsely populated area, unlike KC, STL & SWMO area teams, it‘s always a problem finding opponents willing to play your team.

And it is can be a real wake up call when you play a team that has played 6 teams better than anyone you have seen this year.

Only 2 that had a chance was St. Marys (lost to Lutheran North) and Odessa (beat SOBOCO 32-20 and BO beat them 42-21 and beat Maryville 28-14 and BO beat them 51-8). Not really the best class to put an asterisk on.

Correction: MAYBE ”6 teams better than anyone” Jackson has had a CHANCE TO PLAY this year.

Only class outside of Class 6 (St Louis) that lost anyone of note. The undefeated reigning champs are a HUGE asterisk. I also give Blair Oaks a ton of credit as their side of the bracket was daunting and they emerged. Class 3 was without a doubt the deepest class this year. Doesn't change the fact it was significantly weakened by COVID-19.

If you have to take into account the teams that are playing in the Spring and not even in the hunt. That makes class 5 and 6 the ones with the biggest asterisks

They were lost to realignment, not COVID. We're obviously not going to agree.

Just curious. How you win a national title in High School.

But they were actually realigned due to the states new balancing act, combined with the number of schools that opted for spring pulling schools up. PC would still have been class 4 and more than likely will be next. Webb City is going to be really close to going back down to four as well. So, you could make the argument relatively easily that they were in fact lost to 'Rona.

I don't have the numbers in front of me but something like 15 teams got moved into class 5 this year from just the realignment if Webb was in the top quarter of 4 ( pretty sure they were) there is a good chance they will stay in 5

Not sure on PC, but Webb is solidly C5. I'll concede PC would have done well in C4. I'll also stick to C3 being impacted more. It's subjective.
