This is a new virus and the situation is fluid. The reason everyone got so worked up over this is due to the death rate. Based on CDC data (deaths with a positive covid-19 test), up to May 31st there were 108,668 deaths with 1,513,537 positive cases, a 7% death rate. From June 1st to current there have been 36,630 deaths with 3,510,112 positive cases, a 1% death rate. The situation is fluid and these numbers could change but as doctors continue to learn how to treat and care for these patients I think this number will continue to drop. If people are smart I don't see any reason why fall sports shouldn't go on as planned. With proper guidelines, I don't think there is any reason fan should be able to attend.
The scary number is 90% more infection rate under 17 in the us. 137% more in Florida. Those are in the last month.
Get all the schools open and you're looking at thousands of percent increases.

IDK. But we have had 164,000 in 6 months.
If we had gone to masks in February and did it religiously all over the country that number would be significantly lower. I drove by the grocery store earlier and saw about 10 people walk out with masks on and none of them were hurting. It’s really not that hard.

But how many of those are not actually COVID deaths or are deaths due to horrid policies like that of the NY Governor?

We have come a long way since March and continue to make genuine strides.

At this point it’s become political in an attempt, in most cases, to affect change in the WH.

Great point if covid was only in the US.
Trump failed as a leader and hundreds of thousands are paying with their life.
No other country dropped the ball on this like trump. Its not a hoax or conspiracy. Turn off foxnews and the whackos with Twitter and blogs .

The early death rate was skewed by Cuomo forcing Covid into nursing homes.

The Tylenol Murderer killed 7 people in Chicago in 1982 and the country spent billions and billions repackaging medicines and food all over the country. The stupid seal underneath the peanut butter or salad dressing lids have probably taken a year off my life. Prior to that there was no “if the seal is broken....” on any product in America.

How much is a life worth to people?
If there was a way to track the exact person who gave covid to someone who died, do you think more people would wear masks?
'

1 death in California of someone under 18 out of the 53,000+ confirmed cases and 600,000+ estimated to have had it. It is the Chinese Old People VIrus.

Your post is disingenuous at best. When the leader of the Democrat party is going after you for banning flights from China as being racist, and then following that up with encouraging the populous to get out there and visit Chinatown and mingle amongst the people, you have a huge issue. When the Democrat Mayor of the largest liberal city in the US, to include their Chief Medical Officer of the city, is telling people to get out and ride the subways and hit restaurants and movie theaters, you have an issue.

The United States is built upon the idea of having a small federal government and the day to day managements belongs to each states elected officials. Trump, contrary to liberal belief, is not a dictator and believes that the states bear responsibility in their own management and/or decisions. They are responsible for protecting their populous and to stock pile whatever supplies they deem necessary and important.

The federal government never has, nor will it, have a stockpile of equipment to deliver to all 50 states simultaneously in an event like this. They are prepared to handle hurricanes and floods in a city or two, but aren’t designed or equipped for all 50 at the same time.

You can’t blame Trump for the failings of local elected officials. For some reason guys like you have given them a pass and only point the fingers at Trump.

Your post tells me you have no idea on how the federal government operates and what it’s role is. I understand that you accepted Obama’s role as a dictator, but Trump doesn’t believe in that system of governing.

The pass you guys give elected officials, outside of Trump, is both sad and amusing.

In 2018 tRUMP disbanded the NSC pandemic response team who was charged with preparing for the NEXT pandemic to hit us.
I think the federal government has to be in charge of something that impacts every state.
I worked in disaster recovery at the corporate level and our responsibility was make sure that each of our 8 divisions (scattered across the US) were aware of what we would do and what they should be prepared to do. It was a big deal with yearly off site tests and monthly meetings.
Luckily we never had the real test but we were prepared.

tRUMP and his administration was ill prepared to handle anything like this. His response....no I don’t accept any responsibility.

Didnt you say its going away as soon as the election is over?
Is it logical or intelligent to state the whole world is in on a hoax to get rid of the petulant child in the white house?
Might want to check your premises

I should clarify. Depending on who wins the election, it will either explode into the "next level" of idiocy or magically disappear.

Your first sentence is completely false. The unit was moved into a collaboration with bio defense and counter-proliferations. He got rid of the useless overlap. I stopped reading after your first lie.

I worked 25 years as a Federal Agent and just retired. Ten of those i worked with the NSC on terrorism and counter-proliferation, to include certain issues with the export of dual-use technology. Stop googling CNN man, you’re wrong.

No No No It’s college presidents who are intentionally losing millions in revenue just to get Trump.
Didn't you hear? 20 million people all over the world have volunteered to contract a potentially fatal disease, 750,000 have already given their lives to the effort, and the governments of 181 countries (many of which are our allies) have deliberately ruined their economies just to bring down Trump.

Tell us what you would have done as president in January and February after receiving word of the pandemic. Follow the playbook established in 2016 or blow it off for rallies and golf?

Impossible as I have no idea what he was told, and neither do you.

Everybody has made mistakes dealing with this human developed bio weapon, to include your beloved liberals. Just go look at NYC and NY state, for starters. Those decisions had nothing to do with Trump.

Bahahahahaha. You are full of poo. I don’t believe a word you said on either post. The man was informed of what was coming. His own cabinet has said it. You don’t know what he was told, but you know top secret intel that it was human developed. Bahahahahaha that takes the cake.

Ok. Nobody said you have to believe me. I’m not an insecure dope like you.

Thanks for the laugh!

"human developed bio weapon". Lol

The genome of COVID has been definitively isolated by several western universities including in the US and unequivocally confirmed to be a natural mutation that evolved from bats with genetic material from another mammal intermediary (likely a pangolin).

Go put on your tinfoil hat and hide under your bed. The gubmint might be reading your thoughts right now.

Actually they genetically manipulated the virus in the lab. But please continue to enlighten me.

insecure? I pay attention to what is going on in the world. He was tweeting about the virus in January. He was bragging on China’s transparency. He wasted the entire month of February. But keep your head in the sand.

So do all your liberal retard leaders have any skin in this game or have you been too busy with your TDS? And Kamala Harris, nice choice by your hero Biden picking the kid who finished in last place.

How did a MSHSAA/football thread evolve into a Covid/Trump thread?

Not to say I haven’t derailed a topic or two (hundred), but this one’s quite a leap.

Makes me wanna throw a Molotov cocktail at my iPad.
Its the beauty of MoSports!! You never know what you're walking into when you click on a thread!

He saw it on a T-Shirt at Sturgis.
I read something that speculated Sturgis has been the largest public gathering in the USA, and possibly the world, since the pandemic started. Which could easily make this years Sturgis a "super spreader" event. Only compounded by the fact that most people attending probably think COVID is a hoax and masks are INFRINGING ON MY RIGHTS!!

So back to the topic of mshsaa, did anyone hear about the school in georgia that closed all in person classes after just one week of school and +900 kids and students quarantined because of a few, (less than a dozen I believe) positives? Kind of foreshadows what I expect will be happening here about 3 weeks from now.

Like I've said before it's just impossible to do things like school and sports when the only reaction to a positive case is essentially to carpet bomb. I wonder if mask use is taken into effect when ordering quarantines? Are you exempt if you were around a person but were wearing a mask?

They are now having major issues with their internet service infrastructure.

I know when they opened they let kids choose if they wanted to wear a mask. Did they ever mandate mask usage?
Don't know but from what I've seen, kids and particularly teenagers/college age kids are not interested in socialdistancing and mask wearing. They know the odds of actually getting sick, even when testing positive are extremely small. Part of me doesn't blame them even though logic suggests if they all wore a mask much of the problems with in person class would be eased. The narrative is confusing. They are young and place a high value on social connections and finding their place and identify. It's hard to do that in the age of 'rona. I would hate to be school age, especially HS or college right now.

I've heard of at least one school that mandated it but many students basically ignored it and called their bluff, so to speak.

Very well stated in all respects and pretty well sums up the dilemma we have with school.

Back at MVBT Liberty I once watched a fellow Shannon county student get a few days OSS all stemming from the fact that he wore a hat inside school so I feel like if a school district was serious about masks they could make it happen.

Problem is that in a lot of districts there are too many kids that would welcome the OSS.

I think it will be like everything else. The urban areas will see more testing which will result in more positive test and over reaction. 90% of the rural schools will never have a kid tested, meaning business as usual.
