Advisory Board to meet the 19th

I like the cap @ 32 on class 1 but make it public schools only.
Cap at 40 in class 1 with the caveat that no team exceeds the 2.0 ratio. Why 40? Then you can get most district teams within reasonable 'drive time' from one another. PC don't like playing in kentucky round 1.

Adrian was at 155 just a few years ago. I expect their enrollment to drop again.

Remind me I'll look it up tomorrow but I'm mobile right now

Public schools can't give scholarships .

If your private school has any kind of scholarship fund or takes money from the diocese to offset cost for some kids, you shouldn't be competing against public schools that cannot.
That is a good point, you hear from time to time the argument that "you can go to another public school, you just have to pay the tuition". Using that logic, would it be legal for an athlete who lives in Cape boundaries who wants to play for Jackson, to have a Jackson donor pays the Cape student's tuition for him?

Depends. What's his 40 time, height, weight, etc.? If he meets those admission criteria, then it's legal for a donor to pay his tuition.

Open enrollment every where. If we don't split privates and public. Voted on it in 97.
i think with the success factor coming in it moved some of the 'problems' up and now other folks are getting a taste of what class 1 and 2 put up with for so long.

Maybe they'll rethink the vote to split after 25 years since it affects them now.

they would never stream the meeting, they hide everything

Yes they meet on the 19th. For their Christmas party! Imagine with all that money coming in what kind of spread they have.
They probably use this time to hand out bonuses as well.

1. Separate public and private. We had the chance to do this in the early 2000s and for some reason that’s still not clear, the coaches’ association voted it down. Let’s not make the same mistake again.

2. Make the enrollment radius the same for public and privates. If privates can draw from a max of 30 miles, publics should, too. If a kid in Ashland or Fulton wants to attend Blair Oaks, fine. His family shouldn’t have to go through a charade of owning land in the BO district or some such BS when any kid whose family can afford it can go to Helias - don’t even have to be Catholic.
BO is a public school.

Adrian drops a 48 this year and adds a 61 so will go up the following year they drop a 52 and pickup a 58 then the enrollment will decline with no move ins as they have a 50 and 45 next in pipeline

I know the split was brought up maybe 10 years or so ago, does anyone remember if the vote was close? What would make a public school vote to keep it the same? Just curious if anyone remembers.

IIRC it wasn't close. The class 3 to 5 schools really hadn't had to deal with the problem at that point.

Now they have just a little bit and I suspect they aren't liking it.

That was what I was remembering, that and the non STL and KC area didn't have any skin in the game so they voted no. Obv there isn't the amount of privates in KC area, but have to think the changes in the last few years there is more support for splitting them. At the least, would be nice to see it get on the ballot.

im surprised KC doesnt have the same issue st.louis does

from my time in that urban area I recall it's mainly poor admins that were/are the problem.
i read an article yesterday out of stl that the teachers have credit cards and were charging food drink travel and entertainment on them to the tune of over 100k. then they wonder why anyone with a gpa over 3.0 and any sports talent ends up in a private school

Admin should get rid of those teachers.

The spending was all done by central office folks that the supt brought in w her from the Seattle area. 1.6 million dollars. They have cleaned house some, criminal investigation looming.

Because KC public schools aren't a complete

like STL

The StL county schools are fine. City of StL school district, obviously huge problems. The biggest problems in schools isn't the staff, it society and the parenting or lack of it. You have kids graduating hs now that also have an associate's degree.

…. And have had issues for a long time! Been following the story on local STL news… supt didn’t make it through one year !!! Summer back in the day was a load on the FB field! They had a ton of great athletes….

Duh. That was my point. Public kids should have the same freedom that the private school kids do.

If a kid in Ashland or Fulton wants to attend a private school like Helias, fine - even if he’s not Catholic.

But if that same kid in Ashland or Fulton wants to go to Blair Oaks, his family shouldn’t have to go through the charade of owning land in the new district so he can attend there. Should be open enrollment for public schools too.

They can, they just have to pay tuition.

It was about 15 years ago and I don’t remember it being all that close then. I don’t remember any one reason - we just stepped on our own dicks and voted against our own self interests. Happens a lot.

I remember one guy said he voted against it because he didn’t want to be the champion of just some schools in the state (public). He wanted to be the champ of all schools, so privates should stay in. Pretty fvckin stupid though, since we have 6 classes so you’re not the champion of all public schools either - just those in your class. 😂
