MSHSAA

Does this mean that most of Missouri will still have football in fall except St. Louis area which will have it in the spring? (same for Boys Soccer, Volleyball and Softball)

Mr. Hoops, my guess is that's TBD. Earlier today, I told my local super that I think MSHSAA will pull the plug this week, this being the dead period. But truth be told, I got no better idea than anyone else.

Thought you might appreciate someone (unless it's you in disguise lol) with a love for all things backwards...

Damn I'm going to miss that cesspool.

Now that I think about it, it would make more sense for the students who do compete in athletics to be required to attend online where possible.

Whoa! Is Rawmeat busted!?

On an unrelated note, where is this forum? You say cesspool, I think potential Doc Guy habitat!
Rivals National forum aka the Mainboard aka tMB. Not to be confused with The-Mainboard.com. There was a group that split off from the Rivals MB to form their own.

It's behind a paywall, so you would need to be a paying member of any site on the Rivals network to view.

Back in the day it was a crazy good place to lurk. Fantastic and entertaining troll/flames. WAY too toxic now thanks to politics. It's still the best place to get breaking news. One famous example is the Bin Laden raid. A former Seal posted a cryptic message about 6 hours before the news broke to not go to bed too early that night or you might miss something 'big'. Another is the navy ship that caught on fire recently. Guy was there and posted close up pics before any news outlet even had the story. Many more over the years, but with the traffic that place draws it's not that surprising. Off-topic threads are still outstanding and I've been exposed to many things I wouldn't have otherwise and am much richer for it.

The poster who planted his flag here ~6 months ago @Even Janitor is a tMBer. If you ventured to the MoSports Track and Field board late last year, another did as well (RIP @kdawg68) trashing @gavin 's mom (not really) looking for a landing spot to escape the madness while keeping the exclusive group together. I'm glad they found a home elsewhere, not because they are bad dudes but because it would have changed this board forever.

To quote one of many tMB idioms - hope this helps.

Oh, I forgot. There is a free National board called College Football Soundoff aka the JV board. A little less traffic, quite a bit less politics, and not near as many great off-topic threads. A few years back there was an e-war between the two boards which was hilarious. A few mods got banned over that incident.

This is......amazing. I had no idea this existed either. Not that thrilled its behind a paywall though. What is the cost?

I do remember the activity on the Track and Field forum. Seemed really out of place at the time but with this context, makes more sense.

Id love to see the Doc Guys move over to the main board!

$9.90 per month, or $99.90 annually.

Hahaha. The 'Fraggle Rock' thread and the 'My little pony' thread are really Volume 1 and 2 of 'Q' conspiracies. I've never entered either, however the former mods would take trash threads and merge-dump them there so some of my older posts are lost within.

Staples like 'Hottest female movie character' are multiple times a day. They have Milf Monday's and Thick Thursday's designed with clever thread titles trying to entice posters to say yes they 'wood' to less than ideal photo subjects. Like I said, cesspool. But, it's my kind of cesspool.

Speaking of having first hand observers all over the world, may I submit this gem from Lebanon this afternoon:

It's quite remarkable. Hell, tMB was a subject of a research paper several years back. I'll try and find it if there's interest.

Lol! Figured the threads 'Fraggle rock remake' and 'my little pony' were more than meets the eye. I love diving in those threads.

If you could dig up that research paper, that would be awesome. Seeing modern culture like forums being the subject of or used in research is fascinating

Here you go.

Sorry to those who wanted a clean MSHSAA thread. Guess there's more doc guy in me than first thought.

Well.....the primary elections are over so let's see the dominoes fall.
BTW...UCONN announces they are cancelling their entire footballl season.

UCONN does not belong to a conference in football. With most conferences going to conference only schedules, that left them with not much of a schedule.

Colorado and Minnesota just moved to the spring, joining Illinois, New Mexico, Virginia, NY and California for alternative seasons. Those are off the top of my head, there may be more

Virtual schools can play. Don’t have to play half the contests to be eligible for post season and districts won’t be released until 18 sept.

Columbia, Mo.- The Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Board of Directors met virtually on Tuesday afternoon August 4, 2020. Among the topics discussed were granting relief of two by-laws and a Board Policy; granting relief of the MSHSAA Constitution allowing schools not meeting in-person to participate in MSHSAA activities; allowing virtual competitions in activities with the technological capabilities and modifying the release date for Fall Classification and District Assignments, and other topics. The following changes were for the 2020 – 21 school year only. The Board discussed a request made by member schools to grant relief of the MSHSAA Constitution, under the Hardship Provision of the MSHSAA Constitution, for the 2020-21 school year only, waving the requirement for member schools to provide instruction in a building or buildings. The Board granted relief of the MSHSAA Constitution which provides a MSHSAA Member School the ability to participate in activities if the school begins the school year or transitions to entirely virtual instruction, provided they are following all health department requirements and phases, if applicable. After a long discussion, the Board determined this should be a local school decision. Upon the approval of the Board, a member school may now determine if its teams will participate in MSHSAA activities while its students are receiving virtual instruction only, while following all requirements and guidelines set forth by their health department officials. Students must meet all requirements of the local school, with the local school having the ability to always be more restrictive. It is a local school decision on what criteria it puts in place in order to earn the privilege to represent the school in interscholastic competition. MSHSAA Member Schools may always be more restrictive than the minimum requirements of the MSHSAA By-Laws put in place by the member schools; however, they cannot be less restrictive. The Board also took up two requests for relief of By-laws for the 2020-21 school year. The first was concerning By-Law 3.16.6 and in conjunction with Board Policy 23. These two areas of the MSHSAA Handbook define a “preseason jamboree”. The Board granted relief from a portion of the terms and conditions to allow for an additional option of a two-team jamboree. This action was done to help schools wishing to take part in a preseason jamboree.
Due to the ever changing procedures on how member schools are handling the start of this school year, the Board discussed and approved moving the release date of the classification and district assignments for the Fall seasons. Originally scheduled to be released on Friday, August 21st, the assignments will now be released on Friday, September 18th. Member schools will now have until September 11th to notify the MSHSAA office if they have a sport that will not be able to participate in the postseason. Those teams that will not be participating in the postseason will be removed from the classification process for that specific sport.

Yes at ending your season before it starts. Still no plan on what happens if there a covid kid on your team. No direction there. They back pedaled on the virtual schools. No balls.

The GOP in jeff city has MSHSAA running scared as usual.

Different counties have different guidelines and levels of infection. And districts will have to follow.
The sad thing is not all sports have the same level of risk but when we have to shut sports down due to shot-gun administration, MSHSAA will call it the “fair” thing to do.
Social distancing is easier with some sports.
I do applaud MSHSAA for making it possible for schools to compete.

That’s two top 10 recruiting states in VA and Cali, probably more like top 7.

They should move signing day back.
