Mo Southern Fires coach

He was fired after a meeting with the players. Put that together with what happened at his last job.

Hopefully there’s more to the story and they didn’t fire a first year head coach who took over a losing program for only winning two games
Saw an interesting thing for a Jeffrey sims on mocase.net but who know Joplin's a big town could be a different Jeffrey sims not sure on the guys age

i want to say he was mid to late 40s, maybe early 50s. Jason Brown was an assistant of his in the Jayhawk League before brown took over at Indy on last chance U.
I think he actually got into a physical altercation with brown and then fired him

"I don't think there was a reason," Sims said later. "There's new leadership. I was brought in by Dr. (Alan) Marble, and Dr. (Dean) Van Galen and Jared Bruggeman have the right to choose the people that lead their departments.

"I had a contract, and they exercised their options in the contract. We shook hands and went opposite directions. I'm not privy to what they're wanting to do. But it's like anything. I get to pick the players, I get to pick the offense and I get to pick who's our quarterback. They get to pick who their coach is," Sims said.

Great job MOSO, Sims was trying to recruit local talent and build a little culture around this sub par program. Let’s see if Daye is available. There’s still a lot of talent to be cherry picked from the LA. penal system. That was the last coach that won anything and nobody around the area gave a crap.

Just saw that as well, age would be close. Like you have no idea could be a total coincidence. Seems like from afar he was making progress in the program, team was doing better academically, etc. Something obv went down.

Good grief. If that's him, and THAT is the reason why...just wow. Misdemeanor pot possession. I get it, bad look...but would like to think, as a society, we're a bit passed this. Awful lot of coaches get DWI's and keep their jobs. That's an infinitely worse offense, IMHO. Sheesh.

I agree a hundred percent... I've found that those things are typically an excuse to get rid of a guy you don't like more than about being on moral highground

Funny... I wondered last night if perhaps Daryl Daye hadn't hinted about coming back. If he does, I hope he's in it for a longer term and not quickly seeking a step-up elsewhere.

You're going to get the "get off my lawn" group all fired up with these type of outlandish comments! Your music is too loud as well.

IF that was true and is the case, there would be a deal of hard to discipline players for it if that happened to him, double standard obviously. Again, don't know if that is the truth or not. Agree as well that society is changing, some things need to be looked at and dealt with differently. Obv it is medically legal, and recreational usage will be legal at some time as well. Let's face it, it is a lot less harmful than a lot of pharmaceuticals that are prescribed. JMO but treat it like alcohol, tax it, use the tax money for something worthy, don't use it and drive, common sense. Free up police to focus on other things, don't jail people for usage unless they cause harm to someone else, let anyone out of jail for possession or non violent offenses with it.

I disagree.....I have seen time after time that a player gets involved in Pot and it always without question leads to a downturn in their whole mojo....school motivation etc.....I don't think it harmless and have years of experience with student athletes that back up my beliefs.

Just speculating. There might have been a clause in his contract that outlined that if arrested for an illegal drug, then the contract is terminated with cause.

That probably has far more to do with the kid than the herb.
