Art Hains and Guy Newcomb just referred to a possible "head scratcher" hire at Aurora on Sports Talk. Any ideas?

I believe that is the guy who coached the girls there and went to a state title game.

Curious why the Aurora hire is a head scratcher. Seems like they hired a pretty solid young coach. Aurora had a big day yesterday, filled both basketball jobs with quality hires

I was able to break into the Mark Twain Conference at the same time as Coach Curtis and he's a heck of a competitor. He came from a good Forsyth program as an assistant, took over a DOWN Hurley program (5-14) previous season, won 49 games and lost 28 over his 3 year span. Not too shabby in my opinion, plus previous HC at Aurora started at Hurley. Maybe Hurley is becoming the coaching feeder to Aurora....

Didn't Kates take the William Chrisman job? or did he leave after just a month for the recently opened Belton job?

Yes. Kates did just accept the Chrisman job. I didn't know he left for Belton already. That's kind of a shock if you ask me.

I don't think he left Chrisman. At least it appears he hasn't. I'd say Belton is still open.
