I don't know a thing about Ava other than a rumor that their conference is pretty good. I've heard that they're physical but undersized. True? I do know that Lamar is vulnerable in their oline & defensive backfield. The problem so far is that nobody that they've played has had the horses to take advantage. I thought Valle might be able but they turned out to be disinterested and puppy fur soft. Lamar is dang good as a whole. If Ava can low & fast off the ball & get the Lamar rbs before they get started, I think Ava could beat them.

Not a chance in heck Ava wins. They would be so lucky to even score in this game. Lamar by however much coach feels like. I’m not even affiliated with Lamar, I’ve just watched them plenty to know. But yes the conference is usually pretty good, but not this year.

I think i saw that all 5 of Lamars o-line were 1st or 2nd team in the big 8. i wouldnt say they are vulnerable there. In fact i think maybe 4 were 1st team...

Ava can come off as low and as fast as possible, the Lamar RBs will be just fine and if it is #7 running it, i would feel bad for the first Ava D Lineman that got there.

No disrespect to Ava, but like the others have said, Lamar is in another world.

I agree with M S 69. Ava is very good. Lamar > Best program in the state right now. They have set a new standard.

It's worth noting that any expected 'weaknesses' you might hear about in the preseason or early on in the season seem to evaporate by mid-season. When you are strong in so many areas year after year??? that gives you a ton of time to work on anything you could potentially be lacking in! I'm thinking that secondary was crazy successful last week!

In past years the SCA representatives have played Lamar as well as ANYONE in the state. This round has frequently been THE game to decide the state champ. The SCA is down this year and it will be seen this game. Lamar by as much as they want.

To be fair, Lamar only had one of these “close” games close. And it was a weather effected game. The SCA almost beating Lamar thing is overblown. Tbh.

Oh! In the spirit of all the current seating posts???
Someone let Ava know...
The Tigers will bring a crowd as big OR bigger than the population of Ava! :D
VERY interested to see how that goes

Would go myself if my daughter didn’t have a round ball game :D

2010: Lamar 21 - Mtn View Liberty 20

2011: Lamar 33 - Liberty 18

2015: Lamar 14 - Liberty 7

You're right, they only gave Lamar a game one time...

Basic arithmetic speaks otherwise.

It takes 3 times with the ball to equal 15 points. And that’s if you score, and kick the extra point. Yes you’d be winning on the third score, but a three procession game isn’t close. Sorry this is hard for some.

When you say a game I should close 15 points isn’t close. So I wasn’t off by much. My only point. I can tell most of you aren’t welcoming to new people.

How is that close? Close is a field goal and or a touchdown. What’s hard about this? Come on people. It’s more than two scores.

You are making assumptions that a two point conversion would have been successful. 14 points if that is two pocessions. You can only judge it by what happens. They lost by 15 points. More than two scores. Sorry guys.

So by this logic, trailing by 13 points is also a 3-possession game? One can't assume that the PAT kick would be successful.

Have you ever noticed in your non-bulletin board life how many people argue with you? Ever wondered why?

I can't take Ava seriously as long as they continue to play with a fullback whose stance looks like a cat stretching... its awful

Well now people we need more information, Who scored last in that game was it against somebodies scrubs was a timeout called?

I mean did they call a timeout to score against Lamar's scrubs with just a few ticks left on the clock to make the score look more respectable or did Lamar score last to stretch it out to 2 scores?

Tomato, Tomahto. The first time we met MV/Liberty, it was a barn burner at Lamar. This set the stage for some fierce battles in the future. There were 2 times that the Lamar/MV Liberty game was considered close. The others, not so much.
The '15 game was great. I still say that if anyone other than Ray Charles was playing center for MVL that day they win the game. Granted that kid turned out to be a good player as an upper class man, but he was a liability that game.

It’s all about circumstances. The one game at MVL was amazing and very close. The others were not. Thanks bleachers for the kind words! And San, you are a child. Name calling tactics because we disagree? I expect better.

Why does the final score have to be the sole indicator of 'being in a game'? I've seen several instances where at the end of 3 it's a really close game before a tack on score or two stretches it out to a 3 possession game. It really doesn't hurt any reputations to admit a contest was a test, in fact it will enhance them.
