Kickapoo and Glendale invited to COC

Glendale should be required to upgrade the visitor stands/bathroom area. It's not COC-worthy.

Well, had the Bond passed in 2017, we'd likely have a whole new gym complex at this point.

As it stands, Glendale's issues haven't been deemed worthy by the various facilities task forces assembled since that Bond failed. Glendale's new gym complex wasn't on the Bond that DID get approved in 2019 and the second one this last Spring. Maybe, just maybe, Glendale will be on the list for the 2027 Bond, IF it passes.

Now, we did get new bleachers in the main gym over the summer. Also, the bathrooms are being renovated either now or maybe over the winter. Not sure.

Although, why you'd put new bleachers and renovate bathrooms in a building that's going to be demolished in maybe seven years is BEYOND ME, but that's typical SPS.

SPS spent millions on a new frontage at Hillcrest that only lasted about ten years before being totally demolished with that school's most recent renovation.

You need to understand that a bloodletting at the hands of Webb City is an anual rite of passage most COC members have endured since it's inception. The last few years have been a bit different but trust me Glendale won't be alone in repeatedly losing to WC if the cardinals get back to their winning ways. There are a few teams that have never beat Webb City as far as I know.

Aside from football I just don't see how Glendale will be worse off than Carthage, Neosho and Joplin. You may be overestimating how good these schools are at the other major sports.

Let me clarify, I'm only talking about football, boys & girls basketball. That's it. It looks like girls basketball is going to finally come back to life with Coach Powell, but that can go sideways. Okay, fine, maybe we'll be okay against Neosho, Willard, Joplin in football, but that's three wins....only 3, and not every year either. I know Ozark is down, but I'm not sure Glendale could even beat Ozark this year! Let's see how they do against Branson tomorrow.

"commit to things and build a program"....easy for some schools to say. Not so much at Glendale. I've seen it for over 27 years now.
Brother...when SPS decides to commit to any school other than Kickapoo, you'll have something. There have been coaches at the other schools that have had success and then moved on. Schaefer at Hillcrest with hoops. Beckham with football at Hillcrest, to some extent. Hays at Parkview with football. Cornish and now Simpson at Parkview with hoops. Epps at Central with hoops. Hell, Mauk had some really good years (comparatively) with football and they jumped at the chance to rid themselves of him. Probably justified to an extent, but sometimes if you want to be competitive you have to get your hands dirty a little.

Glendale hoops will be fine in the COC. Probably, at worst, like Webb or Carthage has been in recent years. At their best, I can see them contending for a top 3 spot. Baseball will be just fine.

In the end, SPS needs to give a damn about building athletic programs at all of their schools and not just the flagship. They've got the resources and money to make it happen.

Some might say "unfortunate" color scheme.
