Jay is gone.

The big offensive upgrade for 2016?

Check out @Cardinals's Tweet:

Jedd Gyorko now a Cardinal.
WS time. Woohoo.
Hard to move the needle when picking up a utility IF'er, but Gyorko provides a significant upgrade. Should be good enough to spell Wong vs. some lefties and provide some rest for JHonny and Marp. At first glance I was meh, but so it goes with a utility guy. Overall I think it's a quality move, and Jay was seriously buried. Now time for some REAL offensive upgrades. Hopefully.

Given how burned out Peralta looked late in the year, it is a good thing that he has a backup who can play 30 games at his position.

I wholeheartedly agree. BUT...Does anyone really think MO will use him that much? Or Pena that much? Too much thinking involved.

I seriously wonder if you guys really think Matheny couldn't compete in a IQ battle with a lump on a log?

Fair comparison some nights.

Seriously do you or duck think he is making game decisions without group discussions? Everything they do is calculated. Maybe a late inning pitching change is up to Matheny, other than that they are three steps ahead of what you guys are talking about.

He is not what I would consider a baseball genius. No doubt. But those are few and far between.

It's to the point where I know Matheny will get fired because of spoiled Card fans ********** about not winning the World Series every year. If that happens I'll gladly sit back and watch this ship sink and watch the rats run for high ground.

I would say at this point MO might be in more hot water than MM. Don't think either have much to be worried about, but MO has had some significant swings and misses the last 2 years. The Miller trade has to be considered a big miss now. Terrible job of improving the team at the trade deadline last year. The fact that he said they have money to spend, but can find no takers is not a good sign. The rest of this winter better improve or the Birds could be in big trouble. It's been a while since I have said this, but hope is not a strategy. They are hoping Waino, Martinez, Yadi, Holiday, Adams, Moss and Grichuk all return to good health and play. Jaimi is an injury waiting to happen. Other than Piscotti there is probably not one player that had a strong finish. The farm system's #1 player is a pot head. It's only December so maybe MO will get somethings done by the new year!
Hard to swallow that the Birds best pitcher and best fielder are Cubbies. Boooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!

Now MO claims he thinks the Cardinals will have an uptick in offense. So they probably won't be signing any offensive help. lol One of the worst offenses to make the playoffs just got better by losing out on their best offensive player.
